Negative experience: I had a very frustrating experience with Romans Sandhurst. I signed a 6-month exclusivity contract, trusting the branch based on prior loyalty, but viewings were poorly vetted, feedback was vague and unhelpful, and communication was slow and inconsistent. When I tried to exit the contract six weeks early to work with another agent, Joe Douglas refused, which ultimately caused me to lose the property I intended to buy. After raising a complaint, communication improved slightly, and Lewis was professional, helpful, and responsive, but overall the branch felt more focused on the number of properties on their portfolio than actually selling homes. Transparency, proper buyer vetting, and honest communication were lacking throughout, making the process unnecessarily stressful. I strongly advise anyone considering Romans Sandhurst to research the branch carefully before signing a contract.

Negative experience: *from a buyer’s perspective Really poor form from Roman’s I’m afraid. As a buyer, was essentially told that if we didn’t agree to use their connected solicitor, that our offer would be looked unfavourably on, which I believe is illegal. As it turns out, what should have been a very quick transaction as we were chain free turned out to be a drawn out process due to the sellers solicitors (who were Roman’s recommended). I also had to chase constantly for any communication about an exchange/completion date. After exchanging and not hearing a thing about completion for several weeks, I called up on a Tuesday to be told we were completing on that Friday. No forewarning whatsoever and no asking us whether that was ok for us. Unsure if the staff just have to follow corporates awful rules/guidance or if they are incompetent. Either way, I certainly won’t be using them when we come to sell.

Negative experience: Absolutely disappointed with the service from Romans. After being told repeatedly for over six months that they had buyers interested in our bungalow, I decided to give them a chance, even lowering our asking price by £50K for a quick sale based on their assurances. Despite all the promises, not a single viewing was arranged. Communication was terrible, and it felt like they did nothing beyond just listing the property on Rightmove – something anyone can do for a fraction of the cost. Professionalism was lacking from the start; the agent took pictures using his phone, which were then used in the marketing. It felt like there was no effort on their part to actively market our property or follow up with potential buyers. If you’re considering Romans, be cautious. Ask for guarantees on the number of viewings they’ll arrange, or you’ll likely end up wasting your time as we did.

Fantastic experience: I used Romans to sell my property in Sandhurst and could not be more pleased with the service and result. The team were professional from start to completion and kept me updated with each step including when the sales team passed over to the move team. I have used Romans twice now and each time I have received a 5 star service. Special thanks to Joe and Catherine.

Negative experience: I signed into a 3 month contract with Romans after being told they had 10 potential buyers with 1 cash buyer ready to view. I handed over the keys at the property with good expectations. 4 days later I was asked to drop the price by 25K from their original valuation as they hadn't seen the property. The property that I signed the contracts and handed over the key in. I explained I was very disappointed as they hadn't put up a for sale sign and with this small measure being missed I was very concerned of the lack of marketing being done in other areas before I dropped £25,000 off the valuation. After 4 weeks I was asked to drop the price by a FURTHER 25K after being advised their sales team couldn't get any interest. £50,000 in 4 weeks after they seen the property and valuing it. Over pricing it to get the listing and and smashing the original price to get the quick sale. In total Romans organised 2 viewings with no feedback over the 3 months of having the listing. I was advised on multiple occasion that our contract could not be broken, despite being giving an original valuation and promises of viewings. If you want false promises and an agents only selling technique is to drop the price, then use Romans. Lewis was the original contact who I signed in with. If he or Romans promises anything get it in writing as I have and I'll now be send it to the property ombudsman. I was also only getting up dates and replies to my emails every 3/4 days with a graph from Rightmove with click activity, proving they were not being proactive and didn't push the property and only relying on external leads. Please see below for a list of bad and lazy sales excuses.

Negative experience: Purchasing a house advertised by Roman's Sandhurst. As many estate agents now offer viewing days, I was disappointed to hear that the house my partner and I was interested in purchasing the viewing day was fully booked. With this and in short, we approached the sellers ourselves, arrange a private viewing and became the successful new homeowners. Our move manager, Catherine McNicholas, contacted us once. Her first and only email was of great use, it broke down the steps we needed from beginning to completion and what we could expect. Within the email Catherine said: "The first couple of weeks can feel a little quiet from us" - I didn't hear from her at all after this email. We managed to organise all elements without continuously updating her. Lewis Woodman-Allan, was supposed to be overseeing our case and was of no use. He forgot to tell the sellers that our mortgage survey was being carried out on the property which resulted in this being moved back by 2 weeks. He said he would chase our mortgage lender for the survey to be pushed forward due to his fault - he failed to do this and even though I called on two occasions to check on his progress, he failed to answer the phone and coincidentally called back once the survey had taken place. In addition, he failed to understand or communicate the collection of the keys on completion (we collected them from the sellers ourselves). Thankfully my partner and I had direct communication with the sellers from the beginning due to our desire to purchase the home (we did not know the owners prior to this). Therefore, at each point where Romans failed, we spoke directly to the sellers. I would not recommend Romans Sandhurst and will definitely not sell with them when the time comes.

Negative experience: Bad experience with big name Romans, more than 50% of viewing were cancelled some of them were on the day at the time of viewing. Romans staff did not have a clue the price of the property on the market and was asked, how much is it on the market ? In front of the buyers. Big names disappointing action was sale board by my property one day ahead of ending the contract, by surprise!!!!!! which we never wanted and agreed on contract. When contacted the branch their response was like "We don't know" who put it. Had to contact head office to remove ASAP and it took them 3 days where as its only 5 min drive!!!!!! Would not recommend to anyone with such a bad experience.

Fantastic experience: This is my second sale with Romans Sandhurst and its my second great experience. Chris Klee and the team have been fantastic and professional throughout what is usually a very stressful time for anyone. They have also been extremely efficient - Chris had lined up the first viewing of my house before the ink had dried on the contract! He had sold the house four days after going on the market. They know their customers, they know their market, they know the area and they know the business. I would not hesitate to use Romans next time we move. I knew the cost was higher than some 'purple' options, but having witnessed the performance of 'purple' when we were buying.....I wouldn't ever consider that as a sensible option. You get what you pay for...... 6 stars and a massive 'thank you'!

Fantastic experience: We were initially hesitant about instructing a traditional agency to sell our property as the draw of lower-cost 'internet-only' services seemed to make sense. We then met with Luke from the Sandhurst branch, whose expert knowledge of the industry, local area and advice in general was second to none, it was a clear choice. Everyone from Romans that we came into contact with during the 7 days the house was on the market were professional and courteous, reinforcing our decision to put the property on the market with Romans. Needless to say, 11 viewings in 7 days was very impressive, and more than we'd have been able to manage if conducting the viewings ourselves. The whole process from initial meeting to exchange was as smooth as it could have been, with Laura from the sales progression team keeping us up to date every step of the way. Fantastic experience: We recently sold our house with Romans of Sandhurst and I would just like to place on record how delighted we were with the very efficient and friendly team of Luke the Manager and Jonathan senior sales negoiator. The whole process became somewhat protracted due to a very complex lease on the apartment which we purchased but throughout the whole period the help and assistance that was made so ready available was most impressive and together with their moving manager Kerris Head they achieved a most satisfactory result and we are now looking forward to moving into our apartment, The purchase of our apartment was conducted with a good deal of skill and patience from Matt, Will and the team at Romans of Crowthorne. Fantastic experience: Having recently marketed my property through Romans of Sandhurst and purchased a property through them, I have had my faith restored in their service and professionalism. The new Manager, Luke, has led the team to its strength. Building strong customer relations and ensuring that they meet a high service level. I was kept up to date during the whole move procedure and in close contact with Luke throughout. This made for a smooth transition and a far less stressful experience than it could have been. I was very pleased with the end result and service given by Romans.

Fantastic experience: The sales team working in the sandhurst branch are truly amazing people! They helped us sell our house within a couple of weeks, which also helped us move into our dream home. When we had our valuation meeting, Chris Klee was well prepared, very informative, friendly & not pushy at all - this made it a great experience from day one. After choosing to sell our home with Romans, we met the rest of the sales team who were all equally as helpful & friendly. Whenever we had a question, the phone would always be answered or they called us back when they said they would. Jonathan Hill kept us well informed on the progress of our house viewings, providing quick & honest feedback (which was vital). The team went above & beyond for us on many occasions, but the main scenario that stood out was on our completion date, we were advised by our solicitors that our move would not happen due to issues with the chain (awful news to receive when you've packed up your entire house & personal belongings). We spoke to Laura Rohan, who as usual, got to work straight away getting to the bottom of the issue. She was amazing throughout the entire process but really supported us during this stressful time. After explaining this same situation to Luke Strzadala, within 5 minutes he had called us back, worked some magic & turned the situation around for us so we were able to move in!! We could not believe our luck & we never doubted the decision we had made to sell with Romans - I cannot recommend or praise them enough!

Fantastic experience: I sold my flat in Sandhurst through Romans at the end of March 2016. and moved to North Wales. Buying the Welsh property proved a long and rocky road, and I tilted at two previous properties before succeeding in buying this one. The first was lost when I withdrew from the market due to illness, and the second due to a boundary problem with which I struggled for 6 months before giving up. I also lost one of my own buyers, who withdrew without explanation. Throughout, Romans under their manager James Linder were patient, sympathetic and helpful, not to mention extremely efficient in marketing and selling the property. After each hiccup, they had the property back on the market in no time, and sold for a good price. They even helped me with all the tedious paperwork associated with buying and selling, as I have a hand problem which makes writing by hand a bit of a problem.Top marks from me!

Fantastic experience: Best estate agent in Sandhurst! We had previously listed our property with another 'leading' estate agent in Sandhurst and were disappointing in both the service and poor number of viewings we received. Romans on the other hand was a completely different story. From the first time we met Luke, the brand manager, we received great service and communication throughout. They advised us well without ever pushing us in a direction or towards anyones agenda but our own. We have now secured a sale of 99.5% of our asking price and are really happy!

Fantastic experience: We used the full suite of Romans services; mortgages, conveyancing partners and of course finding us a house. By getting to know us Romans identified the right property for our family and then set about the difficult task of putting and holding the chain together. The Romans move coordinator was fantastic, she cajoled, complemented and worked miracles to get us into our house through a very traumatic move which seemed perpetually about to collapse through events outside of our and Romans control. We are now in our new house, paint spread on walls, garden pruned courtesy of a very professional outfit. House buying is to a certain degree about luck, luck of finding the right house and luck that you can sell your own in the right time, Romans made the whole process ultimately very successful for us and took a huge chunk of luck and guest work out of it. They will be my first point of call for any subsequent move.
