Fantastic experience: I have rented with Davis Tate for the past 6 years, then in Feb I relocated to another Davis Tate property in a nearby village. The whole process was managed through Rebecca based in the Reading office. Despite there being quite a few hurdles during the process, Rebecca was excellent, communicating with me almost daily. I cannot thank her enough, moving is stressful, yet Rebecca made the process much smoother, remaining upbeat, calm and supportive throughout. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: I would strongly caution anyone considering using Davis Tate. When viewing a property, we were told in the advertisement that parking could be obtained “on application.” After progressing further, we discovered that this was completely untrue — the property had a signed agreement prohibiting parking altogether, so there was never any possibility of it being available. This was something they had known from letting out the property previously as well. When we raised this with Davis Tate, instead of acknowledging the error, they tried to distance themselves from what had been advertised. This was highly disappointing and felt deliberately misleading. Buying or renting a property is stressful enough without having to deal with false information. Based on our experience, I would recommend proceeding with extreme caution and verifying any claims made in their listings

Negative experience: Updated review in 2025. This branch has unfortunately gone downhill (at least the lettings / property management). When we moved into our property in 2020, the property manager was brilliant, attentive, responsive, accommodating. She left the company in 2023 and since then, we bounced around 4 different property managers. All poorly responsive to emails, essentially uncontactable via telephone, not updating on progress of works or discussions. We waited 2 months to get the security deposit back after moving out. Far cry from the excellent service received in 2020.

Negative experience: Rubbish like any british letting agency. The process is always the same: 1) Advertise an overpriced "ruin" known as room or flat nowadays though edited pictures to make it look better than it is. 2)During the viewing dont forget to lie and conceal important information from the tenant. Remember they dont give a damn about you, they just want your money. 3) After the contract is secured make sure to ask for a couple of months rent in advance as a deposit. Yes people renting nowadays dont want a roof on their head. Deep down they want to vandalize your property. You got us!!! 4) Should any issues arise make sure to take a couple of weeks to reply. In the event that someone insists about a repair in the rented "ruin" make sure to use your super powers! SECTION 21 EVICTION notice. Why? Because you dared to ask for some decency in your "ruin". NOPE. You dont matter my friend. But your pocket does. 5)Make sure to deliver the final blow! Keep the whole deposit by blaming the tenant for everything that is wrong inside the "ruin". After all it your reward for your "hard work". 6) Last step. While the tenant is trying to move out make sure to harass them and stress them as much as possible. Once they are out of the "ruin" re- advertise the "ruin" BUT dont forget to list at least 200£ more expensive. After all the more its "value" increases so do the chances for it to collapse. BRAVO!

Negative experience: I don't usually write reviews, but had too after the awful experience I had from Davis Tate twice. Offered £10,000 more than the next buyer and still lost out because they “preferred” someone else. Property came back on the market, I was ready with all documents, gave broker details — they never contacted them and sold it to someone else. Zero communication, zero transparency. Avoid like the plague.

Fantastic experience: I bought my house through Davis Tate and liaised with Charlie Hill, Branch Manager and I have to say the process was really smooth and straight forward. Charlie was really easy to get along with, very efficient and supportive with any queries I had raised and dealt with everything very promptly. I also used their recommended solicitors Premier Property Lawyers. They were also very good. Great job all round by Davis Tate and I would highly recommend. Now to enjoy the new house :-)

Fantastic experience: I have just marketed and sold my house through Davis Tate and couldn’t be happier with the experience. We dealt with Charlie and Sam in the main but everyone from the office always seemed fully up to date with what was going on regarding our sale and we’re happy to help when needed. Charlie was great at explaining the process of marketing the property and the best things we could do to maximise sale value. Sam handled the viewings and the majority of the work following up with potential buyers and communicating feedback with myself. Their advice and help meant that we sold the property on the first day of viewings and they managed to get us an above asking offer. All in all a first rate service which I would highly recommend. Their fees were also highly competitive and in line with all the other local offices we spoke to.

Fantastic experience: I recently sold my mums house with Davis Tate in Reading. Communication was great and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. Charlie the Branch Manager came out to give the initial valuation and was brilliant. His presentation carefully explained his valuation based on various market factors and sales of similar properties nearby. The valuation was significantly higher than another one obtained - based on Charlie’s valuation we received several full asking price offers and we have now exchanged contracts on that basis with completion shortly. Sam also was really helpful and provided full support throughout the process.

Negative experience: Compliance Director failed to outline the compliants procedure when he was told a compliant needed to be made. This was after continued failures by the Director and his team to manage a property. Successful in making a compliant for standards of communication and property management. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: Everyone says that buying a home, especially your first home, is always a nightmare. However, David Tate made our process as easy and stress-free as it could be. Our fantastic agent, Tom, was professional, communicative and highly efficient from the start, and he continued to keep us updated throughout the whole complex process - thank you! Negative experience: Awful service and communication. Two properties I had chased about renting one of which I chased for 3 weeks kept being told they had the wrong keys then I get an email saying let agreed now the same thing this morning been chasing about a property told by the sales team they are short staffed on the lettings side of things that's why they never answer the phone but then I get an email saying let agreed on this other property I've been chasing. Not even the manager has got back to me!

Positive experience: I have just sold a flat through Davis Tate and would like to thank Charlie Hill, in particular. If it hadn’t been for his tenacity in pursuing solicitors, I don’t believe the sale would ever have gone through! I would give Davis Tate five stars if they hadn’t arranged entirely the wrong conveyancer at the start! However, they certainly made up for that early inconvenience throughout the remainder of the sale process.

Negative experience: I’ve waited a long while to write this review because I wanted to see if we were really in the wrong, but having now passed referencing easily with two properties costing more per month since, I can confidently say my experience with Davis Tate bordered on disgusting. To be brief: found a place, got accepted, went to referencing, the referencing company congratulated us and told us we passed, next day we were told by Davis Tate we didn’t pass by like 10k (we’re self employed) and would need a guarantor, we tried to prove we would pass sent bank statements etc, they said no, that’s all fine whatever everyone’s got their own system (but to clarify we passed with absolutely zero problems at the same amount the following week), the part that’s disgusting is we were told “well what if you break up” referring to me and my husband. I honestly can’t believe someone (maybe it was shioban could have been someone else it was over a year ago) actually had the cheek to say that, we’d been married about 6 years by then. Anyway there were some other bits but honestly I’m just so thankful we didn’t end up handcuffed to them and good luck to whoever did. Edit to address below comment: As mentioned, referencing did not fail. We passed with no problems immediately after with a much more established estate agent at a different property for the same affordability, and the referencing company themselves told us we passed that morning. We did pass affordability. But even if we didn't, that's not what I'm commenting on. I'm commenting on how unbelievably rude it is to ask a married couple looking for a new home "well what if you break up".

Negative experience: Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Following a viewing of a property, I put an offer forward last Saturday morning. Was told on Monday there were 2 offers and I would receive an update ASAP. Still waiting for a call! Absolutely no communication from Tristan at all! Luckily we did secure another property with a different estate agents. If you’re looking to sell/buy/rent a property, definitely use a different agent. Very disappointed ☹️ To add following their reply: That is absolutely incorrect! I did not advise I had accepted another property. I told Tristan I had seen another property, but I was holding off on that one, until I had a decision about this one. I heard nothing further and only had a response from Tristan after posting my review!

We had to come down a long way from Brian’s initial valuation which was a tough, however it was in the same ball park as other estate agents, so just part of sell to us and the time frame we had. Fantastic experience: 5 stars for these guys - I experienced top-tier service from Davis Tate initially when I bought my property in 2016; then again when I let it out in 2020 (as well as being my rent collectors throughout the tenancy); and then finally when I sold it this year in 2024.
