Fantastic experience: An excellent experience, Charters is the place to go to sell your property, weekly updates, I feel I was lucky to choose Charters estate agents.

Negative experience: Think very carefully before renting through Charters My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. The property was originally managed by Beales before being transferred to Charters. Unfortunately, the change of agent did nothing to improve the situation. Quite the opposite — whenever something went wrong, communication was poor and repairs seemed to take an unacceptable amount of time. The worst example was a water leak through the bathroom ceiling which went on for over six weeks. Plumbers were sent out and, incredibly, we were essentially left with the response that there was “a leak there somewhere.” Despite repeated visits, the problem wasn't properly resolved. Eventually, the ceiling collapsed. Having to live with water coming through the ceiling for that length of time is completely unacceptable. The communal areas were no better. The bin sheds were allowed to become absolutely disgusting, including overflowing over Christmas, and it took weeks to sort out. Residents moving out were also leaving unwanted furniture in the sheds, yet there appeared to be little or no action taken. Other tenants were moving out or complaining about the issues Then came the end of the tenancy. There was very little communication about the inspection, leaving us unclear about when it would actually take place. Following the inspection, issues were raised and money was subsequently taken by the landlord. I understand that Charters are the managing agent and don't personally own the properties they manage. However, that doesn't excuse poor communication, delays in dealing with serious maintenance issues or a lack of proper management of communal areas. For me, the whole experience was incredibly frustrating and left a very poor impression of the company. If you're considering renting a property through Charters, I would strongly recommend doing your homework first and thinking very carefully before committing. My experience has been one of delays, poor communication and problems that seemed to take far too long to resolve. Definitely not an experience I would want to repeat, and not a company I would recommend based on my experience.

Fantastic experience: We've had a really great experience with Charters so far. As first-time buyers, the whole process felt quite daunting to begin with, but Skylar and Ned have made it much easier. Skylar has been extremely helpful from the start, showing us around the houses and making the viewings feel relaxed and enjoyable. Fantastic experience: My experience with Charters has been amazing. It doesn't matter who answers the phone, the team are easy to contact and happy to help with any questions you have. Maya was attentive and made the process easy and straightforward.

Negative experience: My landlady switched letting agents in February from Charters to another agent, and Charters contacted all of my utility suppliers, the council and electoral roll and told them to close all my accounts as I have left the property which is incorrect. I have spent 3 months now receiving letters and emails informing me of account closures, and then spending hours on the phone for each supplier to get the account reopened and resolve outstanding/final billing issues.

Fantastic experience: Skylar has been so helpful in our property search, with prompt responses and alternative options she has made such a difference in helping us find the right home for us. She is so informative and knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions we have had. We will definitely be continuing our house hunt with her!

Fantastic experience: We called in to several estate agents while walking down the High Street, because we we looking for a specific type of property. We were greeted at Charters by Maya, who took all our details. Within hours she had found three properties which she felt might suit us and arranged viewings for us. We visited all three on the same afternoon with her a few days later, but none was quite what we were looking for. We did find an ideal property being offered by another estate agent, but cannot fault the service offered by Charters, and Maya in particular.

Both of them were very helpful, and always helped or assisted with any queries or questions I had. Positive, polite, and made sure things went smoothly untill the keys were handed over. So glad I dealt with these two Great members of the team for sure.

Negative experience: They are good at wanting to get house buying processes moving, as well as very quick to complete tasks. However, they try to put on pressure when not needed. Also ended up liaising with three people instead of one. Also, one of their estate agents broke GDPR laws and found my name on Facebook and privately messaged me (9 months after) and asked me to hold her mail (she was also the individual we bought the property from) Not only was I uncomfortable with being contacted on Facebook, but after 9 months, you’d think that you would have redirected your mail by then (we had still been getting all of the mail). I contacted their head office to make a complaint and I was told that someone would contact me that week to discuss what happened and what I would like to happen further this. Well, I didn’t get a phone call.

From our first meeting with Adam, the branch manager, the service we have received has been the polar opposite. The professionalism and attention to detail, coupled with excellent customer service, couldn't be faulted. We had more viewings in the first week with Beals than a month with the other Agent. We received both verbal and written feedback after each viewing - something we had to chase ourselves with the first Agent. Viewings arranged and conducted by both Louise and Anna, were done so without disruption to our routine, and to fit around our availability. The team found us a buyer within a week, sadly this fell through at no fault of Beals, however within a week of this the property sold successfully again. Louise has become a regular caller and has answered and queries we have both quickly and efficiently. We are in the last stages of our move now and can't thank Adam, Louise and Anna enough for making this process as hassle-free as they can. Having bought through Beals before, we should have gone to them first this time. Having a property of our own to sell in the next 12 months, we won't hesitate to place our sale in the safe hands of the Beals, Gosport team, when the time comes.
