Negative experience: Automated message is broken. No one answers the phone, called 3 times and keep getting a message after waiting around 15 minutes stating that the lines are busy and I can either hold the line or email and then get cut off. Why give me the option to hold the line and then cut me off?? It's pretty obvious that whoever was in the office on Saturday 12th July at around 11am was clearly sitting there twiddling their thumbs and avoiding calls. Each time I called I was either position one or two in the queue so clearly the lines weren't busy. The whole reason I called in the first place is because no one got back to me when they told me they would. Absolutely fabulous service

Negative experience: Rung to enquire about a property listed today. I wanted to make a cash offer at the listed price without a viewing just like a property I bought from them 2-3 years ago. I was informed that they do not have the full particulars of the property and will not accept offers without a viewing which they can’t give me regardless at the present moment in time! Great sales service. If you are looking to buy a property quickly, efficiently and without any games then I would suggest you look elsewhere like myself!

Positive experience: Honestly, it's an ok agency, but there's always something that fails!! Possitive: They held the office late just so I could grab my keys as my trains were supper late! I got a welcoming gift box with the cutest things that you might need on your move in day! Negative: Have reported a problem since the beginning of the tenancy, such as mould, and only by the end when I am about to move they send me a number of a contractor to take care of it... 6 months where my health was at risk due to a problem not solved directly when I reported it! The whole house is full of damp, and my room has 2 leaks on the roof, which creates a bunch of mould. (I have reported this, but they never took care of it) They don't seem to be great at replying back to you through email.

I couldn’t speak highly of the service Chris provided and I’m extremely grateful to him for coming out so late on a Friday evening!

Positive experience: Took me 10 calls to get through to someone. When I did start to speak to someone they placed me on hold without telling me and then just left me there for 10 mins and showed no sign of caring to pick up the phone and talk to me. Tried to call back a few times and another 5 calls later I finally got through to someone who managed to send me an application form.

Negative experience: Really poor customer service. Filled in a form for a property that I was interested in as requested on the day it was uploaded to Rightmove. A whole four days had come and gone and had no update for a physical viewing. Called up again today and was told the property was gone. Didn’t even notify me of physical viewings taking place and was still showing available on rightmove after the call. Stay well clear. The bad reputation for punctuality and professionalism I had been told about was correct.

However, everyone at Martin & Co was supportive, helpful, honest and kept their promises, which seems to be quite a rare thing these days! Fantastic experience: Martin & Co dealt with the sale of our house. We mainly dealt with Becki and Luke and they were helpful, friendly and polite throughout the process.

Negative experience: Please avoid this letting agency if you want your deposit back. Me and my partner gave our end of tenancy notice one month before we moved out and the agency is now saying that we left without letting them know. We have all the evidence that it has been done. The agency is now avoiding all our calls and emails. They say they will ring us back but they never do. Last time we rang them they just hung up on us in the middle of the call. If you read other reviews you can see that they have done this to other people aswell.

Fantastic experience: I have recently sold my house with Martin & Co. The hard work, commitment & dedication that Becki shown is nothing short of outstanding. The help & support she has given me has definitely been above & beyond any 5* service. I am a strong believer that communication is key and Becki never failed in this area. She listened to my frustrations with solicitors and assured me she would do all she could to help, and she did. She spent hours of her time on hold to multiple solicitors down my chain, chasing for updates & pushing for completion dates. On top of that she never stopped until we had a completion date. She contacted me in her own time, in the evenings to update me. When Becki tells you she will get back to you, there is absolutely no doubt that she won’t. Even if it’s in her own time. A girl that is true to her word. She pulled out all the stops to ensure the customer (myself) was happy & satisfied. Becki is a credit to Martin & Co. She is adding value to your business on a daily basis through sheer dedication & commitment. She is extremely professional for her age and shown me nothing less than 110% at all times. Her work ethic is something you should all be proud of. I will be contacting Becki again with my Buy to Let’s. She is an absolute ⭐️

Negative experience: Dishonest especially David McKnight who really just about sums up why people dislike estate agents. If you are renting from these guys then be careful when trying to move out. They were given one months notice in advance, I emailed David to confirm no more payment would be taken. He replied yes moving out date would be 17th. My brother moved out of the flat then they said that actually he gave his notice 3 days late. He dated it the 20th and although had moved out on the 17th they now want another months rent. I even emailed David before the 17th to confirm they would collect the keys. He didn't reply as he is oily and slippery, he happily took the keys before telling us we had a month left and now wont give the keys back. Think twice before renting from this lot.

Negative experience: Communication is really terrible as I sent an email for a move out date and they charged me for an extra month replying that they haven't saw my email because of the pandemic and I should have did a follow up call eventhough they had a proof that I sent my email one calendar month before my move out date. I honestly had bad expierence renting with them.

Negative experience: Arranged a viewing with them today and they didn't show. When I phoned to ask where they were they said they'd already agreed an application with someone and then said that one of their colleagues had phoned & emailed me that morning (which they hadn't). I wouldn't usually leave a negative review for a simple mistake, but I'm not a fan of liars/timewasters. Poor service.

Negative experience: Tenants, please do not use them. They’re scams and tried to defraud me of £400 deposit in 2019. Luckily DPS were supportive and helpful, and got my money back. They are also very bad communicators, specifically if you report a fault. I had complained multiple times on a certain issue from the start of my tenancy and instead of fixing it, they tried to charge me for it (a fault not from me) at the end of my tenancy. My other flatmates had multiple issues with the letting agency also.

Negative experience: I moved into a HMO with Martin and Co a couple of years ago. It was a really stressful experience which lead me to ask for my room to be re-marketed after several months. I have never had any issues renting elsewhere. I took the room under the premise there was secure parking. However there were more cars than spaces and after being unable to park my car securely most of the time, one day I woke up to find my car had been keyed all the way round causing £1600 worth of damage. It was a rough area. My bedroom was downstairs and the upstairs room above me wooden floored. The tenant in the room above me would frequently got out till late night mid week and come home drunk with friends keeping me awake till 3am. I start work at 6am. Ear plugs weren’t enough. I was constantly stressed and tired. After explaining all this to M C they had zero sympathy. Telling me I was using this a leverage to get out the property early. They made me feel like I was a problem and the relationship deteriorated quickly. They charged me a fee of something in the region of £140 to re-market the property. Within a week they accepted the first tenant who came to view even though they didn’t want to move in until the day my tenancy was due to end. I explained my situation to the manager who was really insensitive and obnoxious. This was the first time I’ve dealt with customer service style like this and hopefully the last. So bad was my experience I ended up moving out 4 months early while continuing to pay rent. I was vacant from the room for 4 months paying full rent to the cost of thousands of pounds and they couldn’t even let something so petty as a blown lightbulb go, threatening to withhold my deposit as a result. Thankfully I’m buying my own house next year. Tenants think twice.

Fantastic experience: I have had the opportunity of dealing with Rebekah Andrews in connection with my search for a property in Derby. I had a number of telephone conversations with her regarding viewing appointments. She was respectful, courteous, professional and helpful throughout. Negative experience: As a landlord please avoid, first tenant sporadic pay then second tenant stopped paying. I went round noticed bed set up in living room neighbours telling me various people coming and going found out she was sub letting, so Martin and co did not do the vetting correctly or the periodic checks on the house. Bad tenant finally left Martin and co kept the deposit as David knocked on the door twice so deposit was to cover this. Complete con artists tbh avoid. I can only assume some of the tenants behaviour has rubbed off on David as he is as big a con artist as the tenants they provide.

Fantastic experience: I have used Martin and Co Derby for many years and always found the team there to be professional, helpful and efficient in finding new tenants and sorting all the paperwork. The team is also available to consult on any day to day matters. I wouldn't consider using any other agent as I value our good working relationship of long standing.
