Negative experience: We moved out over two months ago and we are still chasing deposit. Currently in dispute (which has only just been raised by the way) over extremely inflated charges for dust and general wear and tear. We have had to chase on ten occasions so far because no one is in any rush to sort this out for us.

Fantastic experience: We purchased our property through Bowson and they were absolutely fantastic throughout, nothing was too much of a bother for them and they went out of their way to help when required, John is great and was extremely helpful throughout the whole purchasing process, everyone is really friendly either on the phone or via email and I couldn't recommend them enough if you're selling or buying.

Positive experience: Standing between a demanding buyer and a resolute seller (who is paying for the service) cannot be straightforward, and the Agent handled himself admirably throughout the process. I was surprised (not having previously sold a large property in a city like Newcastle) by the variety of skills, including diplomacy and political awareness, displayed by the team at Bowson. All in all, the service represents good value for money, and I would encourage others buying or selling in the Newcastle area to regard Bowson favourably.

Fantastic experience: Bowson have been brilliant. They look after my tenants and properties superbly, organising repairs quickly and efficiently and keeping me up to speed. And when it came to the student cycle they had all mine let by the end of October at great rents. Thoroughly recommended if you’re a landlord or a tenant.

Negative experience: RE: Anne Marken & Bowsons Recently rented a property from Anne Marken, the property was transferred to Bowsons during our tenancy. Overall, Bowsons provided a decent service being responsive to issues and investigated such issues – however it is important to note that Bowsons ultimately answer to the landlord who owns the property, making it extremely rare for repairs/requests to be completed (in our case). The landlord Anne Marken failed to replace faulty items and fixtures, resulting in a poor living experience in an extremely dated house which required significant investment. Upon moving out the landlord attempted to withhold over a thousand pounds of the deposit, after contesting this the amount was significantly reduced, highlighting their questionable practices. Overall, while Bowsons provide a decent service, it should be known that the Landlord still has considerable influence and therefore requests, and repairs are rare - i would not recommend Anne Marken as a landlord.

Negative experience: Represented horrible people as landlords, bowson themselves was helpful to a certain extent. We were forced to lived a mouldy house for over a year, a whole wall being stripped to wet brick and told to “not use that room” despite the kitchen being through there. Did not receive any benefits or even concern for our health. Would just avoid in general to be honest

Negative experience: FOR ALL UNI STUDENTS - DO NOT CHOOSE BOWSON I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the highly unsatisfactory experience my housemates and I endured with Bowson during the final stages of our tenancy. Our experience when leaving the property has been nothing short of distressing, primarily due to the unprofessional and inefficient manner in which Bowson handled the checkout process. Upon handing back our keys, we were assured by your team that we would receive an update regarding the checkout report within the week. However, despite this assurance, more than two weeks passed without any communication or update from your side. Instead of resolving the matter promptly, we were repeatedly passed back and forth between Bowson and our landlord, both of whom were uncooperative and dismissive of our concerns. It was abundantly clear that there was a severe lack of communication and coordination between Bowson and the landlord, which resulted in significant delays and frustration for us as tenants. For over a month, we were subjected to unnecessary stress and upset as we tried to resolve what should have been a straightforward process. The level of unprofessionalism displayed by both Bowson and the landlord was utterly unacceptable, and it left us feeling angry and disillusioned. Given this experience, I strongly advise any university students or potential tenants to avoid using Bowson's services to save themselves from the distress and inconvenience we faced. It is deeply disappointing that what should have been a simple end to our tenancy was marred by such poor service.

Fantastic experience: Bowson now manage three rental properties for me up in Newcastle. I am based in the south east of England and therefore I wanted a very hands-on. agent due to the geographical distances between myself and my properties up there. I have been with Bowson now for several years and I have never had any problems. To my memory, we have not had any periods when they were unable to find a tenant for me, and I’m always very happy with the speed and accuracy of communication. I am looking to expand my property portfolio up in Newcastle and I will be using Bowson for any subsequent properties.

Negative experience: Probably this agency is better if you're a landlord, but it's not great if you're a tenant. They have an online system to report your issues, but the problem is that they don't always solve them. Unfortunately, we had several problems in our bathroom from start to end of the tenancy, that were never sorted out in the 2 years we lived in the flat, with a dripping tap in the shower (only God knows how many litters of water we lost!) and a wall with humidity issues that was only partially repaired -after several months of wait- by the agency's contractors who left a hole behind the toilet from where a variety of insects were constantly entering the property. They don't work with the most skilful contractors, who seem to do just the minimum to say they solved the problems, but with no care on details at all. Additionally, Bowson does 4 inspections per year, which it's a bit annoying when they really don't sort out your issues. The whole experience was disappointing to be honest.

Fantastic experience: I'd like to thank John for his advice, work ethic and professionalism in all that was involved in selling my rental property recently. John worked with the letting team, the rest of the selling team and liased with solicitors to make everything go as smoothly as possible. Sam was also a great help when John was out of the office. John kept in touch after every viewing, responded quickly to any questions and nothing was tok much trouble to him. I wish John every success in his estate agency career. I'm also grateful to the whole of the Bowson Property team for their service over the last 15 years.

Fantastic experience: Bowson has a very professional team that ensures the properties under their management are well looked after. They have a mobile app through which you can register issues that require fixing and you can monitor the status of the repair. The team is also very responsive. Fantastic experience: We recently completed the purchase of a house through Bowson Property and had the absolute pleasure of having Sam Todd as our estate agent. From the moment of the house viewing (being first time buyers) we felt completely at ease. We absolutely loved the house but Sam's knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm definitely went a long way in our decision. The journey from the offer to completion was a tricky one (solicitors!) but Sam was there every step of the way and went completely above and beyond his role to guide all parties in the right direction. Without him there, I really don't know if we'd be in the position we are today. He is a credit to Bowson and if selling in the future would definitely feel safe choosing Bowson as our preferred estate agent from now on. From us both thank you for everything!

Negative experience: I would not recommend going with Bowson estate agent, they do not seem to be supportive to the tenant needs or concerns. Since moving in four months ago we have had continued issues (despite multiple calls and emails) with: No hot water in one bathroom, thick black mould in the other, broken oven, no intercom, broken door lock and an advertised garage that was full of rubbish and unusable. We have given multiple chances for them to sort this and yet the problems all persist. So think before you sign a tenancy contract with them as you don’t want to be stuck with estate agents that don’t care about their tenants.

Fantastic experience: We were buyers for a property sold by Bowsons and dealt with John. The service we received was exceptional and would highly recommend Bowsons to anyone without hesitation. John was knowledgeable, professional and highly efficient. His communication skills were second to none and it was a pleasure to deal with him.
