Negative experience: I've heard terrible things about Bridgfords attitude to their tenants at the end of tenancy. Obstructive, laggardly and unhelpful in deposit returns despite ample evidence of tenants' absence of fault or damage, they will not work on your behalf! Renter beware and take plenty of photos and records of emails!!!

Negative experience: Contractors should avoid!! Fitted a cylinder in a property for this agent and despite numerous calls/emails/complaints we are still yet to receive payment, now three month overdue. They tried to pass us over to the landlord when we dealt direct with them, but we’ve heard nothing. Would not recommend working for this company.

Negative experience: Had a seriously frustrating and concerning experience with them - they withheld our deposit for over 3 months after our tenancy ended and proved highly difficult to get in touch with. This is an issue I am aware numerous other students have experienced with Bridgfords. Would strongly advise all students to avoid using this company. They clearly think they can take advantage of students by continuously delaying deposit returns - either that or they are simply incompetent.

Negative experience: Warning to avoid letting with Bridgfords at all costs. They refused to give us back our deposits for 3 months and a half - deposits manager Paddy ignored our calls and emails. Eventually received the money after threatening action. Very distressing experience; complete chancers and possible fraud risk.

Fantastic experience: Having seen a property up for sale with Bridgford's. Spoke with them and arranged a viewing, Dan came out and showed us around and also suggested a couple of other properties I may be interested in. Following the viewings actually agreed a price on one of there suggested properties and purchased it and cannot fault there service. Would happily use them again.

Fantastic experience: I approached Bridgfords lettings about a property I’d seen online and was very pleasantly surprised! After speaking with several other agents in the area, I was feeling so deflated. Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENT! If i could give them 0 stars I would. They told me they could rent out my property for me, made me spent £1000 on their own maintenance people and then told me one of their contractors refused to carpet the property. Negative experience: Where do I even begin, well here goes. AVOID at all costs, terrible service by Bridgefords and the landlords of 7, Neville terrace. A warning to potential future tenants of buyers, do your research into this property and these people. At first all seemed well, then eventually issues started to arise from mould, fault electrics, broken floor tiles, dodgy gas pipes, a broken roof, decade old radiators that really did not work, cracks in ceilings, issues with the downstairs living room such as broken wood pannels within the floor. For months and months we tried calling, reporting etc. and every repair felt as if we had to go fight in the battle of stalingrad. eventually after the albert einsteins of bridgefords and the landlord decided to fix the roof some how they managed to screw that up too. So another long wait and battle with both parties and their grand wisdom they decided to we could leave any time.... knowing the current housing crisis in Durham from what I gather they knew how bad it was and took advantage. So we ended up stuck in the property for a good few months, I have had numerous surveyors round and contractors some even complaining that they have to fight for their invoices to be honored. Eventually after leaving on the 16th of July they had the cheek to send an email saying Me and my partner are in rent arrears. after battling to get that cleared up. As of the 24th of August they still have not returned our deposit. But yet they still have time to try sell 7, Neville Terrace. Just one final warning, please get a full survey top to bottom as we did because they will tell you the issues we got told. Stay away very well away.

Fantastic experience: I would 100% recommend Bridgfords Durham, particularly Madison and William, who made the process of buying my first home surprisingly smooth and stress-free; I was expecting to be confused and stressed for months but I don't think I broke a sweat once (until I transferred the deposit). From start to finish, everything was handled with efficiency and professionalism. The entire process was completed in just over two months, without a single hiccup – something I didn't even think was possible! William secured me a fantastic mortgage rate as well as a great insurance deal. He was incredibly responsive and flexible with his time, often replying to emails outside of normal working hours and making himself available around my work schedule – I’m still not sure when he actually takes a break! Does he sleep? Madison was equally outstanding – friendly, approachable, and always professional. Both she and William kept me well-informed at every stage, explained everything clearly, and were a genuine pleasure to work with; they both made everything feel straightforward and manageable, which as a first time buyer is such a relief. Both Madison and William are a credit to Bridgfords and their branch. They made a potentially overwhelming process feel simple and even enjoyable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and I’ll definitely be back when it’s time to remortgage!

Negative experience: Rented a property through Bridgfords that was signed off as safe, yet it was anything but. I have clear photographic evidence of significant water damage to the ground floor ceiling—directly around an electrical light fitting—which we were later told had been caused by a leak from the bathroom above. This bathroom was the only place in the property that provided basic sanitation, making the entire home effectively uninhabitable from day one. Despite raising these serious concerns with Bridgfords multiple times, I received no proper follow-up or resolution. The issues were downplayed, responsibility was shifted, and no real accountability was taken. We were ultimately left unable to live in the property and severely out of pocket. A deeply disappointing experience that reflects a lack of due diligence and concern for tenant safety..

Fantastic experience: Bridgfords is probably the best letting agency I have rented with. They are extremely professional and are very honest with every detail about their properties. Every stage of the tenancy process is thoroughly explained and guided through, and there aren't any rude surprises anywhere. Negative experience: Contacted Bridgfords and arranged for a valuation. They came out on the 29/1/25 as arranged. Said we’d probably receive an email the next day with all details and to go from there. No email and again the next day nothing. Phoned on the afternoon to be greeted by someone who seemed to have a could not care less attitude. I was told the person dealing with it had not been in all day yesterday and not in so far today. Call ended with “I’ll jog her memory” Six days had passed since the valuation viewing and still not a word. I rang Dowen’s on the 4th Feb. Came out on the 5th and house up for sale before lunchtime 6th. Guy from Dowens was professional, knew his stuff and pointed out a major mistake Bridgfords had made on the pricing they were going to use when advertised. Woeful service after the initial call out.

Negative experience: I have experiences of renting and buying with various agents in the past but has never across an agent as bad as Bridgfords. During my purchase of a property in Durham, they lied again and again to cover a minor thing that the garage lock was broken. When the keys were handled over and they no longer could cover this lie, the agent-in-charge actually quit the job exactly on that day. Meanwhile, the letting team tried to convince me to let them manage the property on my behalf. When I declined the service, they even attempted to withhold any related property documents from me. What an ‘impressive’ operation! I would avoid Bridgefords at all costs.

Negative experience: An absolutely shocking experience selling our home using Bridgfords Durham! Communication was shocking and we had 3 viewings not show up. We got an offer the first weekend of having our house on the Market but rejected it, expecting to get a counter offer but instead had no further communication from the team regarding that buyer. Once we had accepted an offer, the forms that we had filled in to get the ball rolling with our solicitors turned out to be absolutely pointless as we got assigned new Solicitors and had to complete them all again. I'm not kidding you, we were assigned Conveyancing Direct as our solicitors, started the process with them and then were assigned another Conveyancing company due to work load, then they were too busy so we got reassigned to another solicitor before being resigned back to Conveyancing Direct but with a different solicitor (who turned out to be very helpful). When trying to get to the bottom of this with Bridgfords no one there had even heard of the companies THEY had assigned us. Despite numerous promises to have calls back from Jonathan to resolve this, it was always myself who had to call him. There is no point in selecting the selling your property option when doing so- it seems they only ever pick up when you cheat the system and pretend to be a buyer. He even failed to send over the official complaint procedure documents without being prompted twice. An official complaint was never made as I believe he is no longer working for the branch as manager. Once we'd sold our property, communication was non existent for around 6 weeks, until we were notified our Buyer had pulled out from our solicitor. When trying to get in touch with Bridgfords to find out if they had any information we constantly got passed around and no one seemed to have any answers. I believe 3 different staff tried to contact our buyer to get details but none of these were passed on to ourselves in full. Apparently an email was sent to one member of staff but no one else could access this email account. On one occasion when trying to call, we ended up getting passed through to a different branch (due to the whole team being in training/staff sickness) Luckily this branch was 10x more helpful than the Durham branch and we got a slightly less muddier understanding of why we lost our buyer. We were sold a higher priced package based on absolute lies!! The higher level of service that was promised compared to other Estate agents disappeared as soon as we agreed to sell our property! I think they are deliberately over-estimating to make you more likely to choose them over more realistic estate agents. 100% would not recommend!! Stay well clear of using this estate agent if you can avoid it. Luckily we were recommended another local estate agent who were absolutely brilliant! They had our house back on the market in a day with new photos and listing and were incredibly helpful throughout the process with great communication with ourselves and our buyer to complete the sale.
