Fantastic experience: Had a really good experience with Curchods. I did a lot of house viewings recently, looking to buy for the first time, and often found myself being shown around a place by someone who clearly either barely knew or had never been to the place before. Not with Curchods. I had two viewings and both times they were really knowledgable and helpful. I understand they actually get their team to go to the properties when they take them on, so they get to know them. Not just the vital statistics, but thoughts on how rooms could be arranged, and how little bits might be fixed up cheaply. Makes a big difference. I ended up buying a property Curchods had on the market, and given the whole process went very smoothly and quickly it’s clear the team were on it in terms of paperwork with my solicitor too. I also really appreciated getting emails from them at key points in the process setting out what I needed to do and when, which was very much appreciated when navigating all of this first time around.

Fantastic experience: We sold our house with Curchods in spring 2025. They have been most responsive, prompt and communicative. Small examples - when a buyer pulled out very early in the first week on the market they immediately ramped interest up and got us a new buyer who then stuck. They organised very nice photos and were happy to redo them as the season turned and lights/garden looked different to refresh the listing. They were open about marketing strategy and communicative. Robbie Barklem particularly has been excellent.

Fantastic experience: In summary, my house moving journey has been a long one and I might well have given up if it wasn’t for Curchods! I can highly recommend Jessica and Kat who have been super proactive and always advocating for me and my buyer throughout the chain. Initially I had months of no offers and barely any viewings trying to sell my place with another estate agent, but once I moved to Curchods it only took a couple of months to get a full asking price offer. They were honest with me that my initial price was too high for the market and gave sound advice which got lots more potential buyers through the door. James got me loads of viewings back-to-back on one Saturday morning resulting in offer number 1. Kat was then excellent at keeping my buyers from pulling out at various points as they were in a rush to move and had to wait for me to find somewhere to buy and then for a completed chain. Sadly, as I ended up with quite a long chain, I did eventually lose my buyers after about 4 months. This is when Jessica stepped in, finding me a new buyer within 2 weeks! My new buyer only took 2 months to be ready to move and Jessica was then tirelessly on the phone ringing up and down the chain to chase the slow movers at the top of the chain. Without her, it would have all gone on for even longer, but finally we exchanged this week and the journey is nearly over (one year from initially putting my place on the market and 8 months with Curchods). Negative experience: We enquired on a property on Fairlands Avenue, we was ready to offer on the property as soon as we had been shown around the house, we called on Tuesday to be told the earliest that the vendor would allow people to view was Saturday, I stressed is there no way of viewing the property sooner and the member of staff I spoke to said unfortunately not Saturday would be the earliest after going away to check with another colleague of hers. Friday morning comes and I get a call from the office to say that unfortunately our viewing has been cancelled as somebody viewed the property on Thursday and the vendor has accepted their offer and that we were no longer able to view the house. Very disappointing and dishonest experience.

Fantastic experience: It was Feb ‘22 when we decided to sell our house through Curchods Guildford. We made the decision based simply on the fact that they seemed to market the most properties in the area we were looking to buy and Garry (who came out to value our property) made us feel as though we’d be in safe hands. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. It’s been a VERY challenging time to sell a house and buy another one - very little on the market, huge competition for every property - plus we had a tiny search area and needed to buy and sell within a tight timeframe. Fortunately, Ben Williams was put in charge of our sale and he really went the extra mile. Over the months it’s taken to get to the point of exchange, he’s responded to every one of my relentless emails with dedication, professionalism and the optimistic belief that we’d get there in the end. We simply wouldn’t have succeeded in selling our house in time and at the price we wanted if it hadn’t been for Ben working tirelessly on our behalf. Everyone in the team helped us at various points along the way and they are all brilliant. Fantastic experience: Always conscious that any estate agent always represents / is paid by the seller not the buyer… however, Curchods strike that balance extremely well, and as a buyer we felt that Ben & team were very fair in also representing and guiding our interests and helpful in trying to coordinate all parties (lawyers, us, sellers etc) and push things along & unblock any issues between Offer and Exchange/Completion. For any prospective sellers it’s also worth mentioning that they value and guide sellers well in terms of asking price - rather than promise the world (and therefore achieve disappointment when offers are not forthcoming), they value fairly but conservatively in order to generate interest and multiple offers so that you’re pushed to give your highest possible price in order to outbid others. In the Guildford market where there is healthy demand and limited supply, that is a good strategy and why we would use Curchods if we were selling. For those interested, we paid over asking, and I’m sure the vendors were very happy, but equally I don’t feel we overpaid. Curchods created an environment where the ‘market price’ was achieved - being the highest price of a number of credible bidders (there was a higher offer, but Curchods correctly advised the vendors that we were in a much better position re chain free etc). As I say, the best compliment I can give them is that having experienced and gotten to know a number of different agents and their different styles & ‘strategies’ in our 6 month search for our house, Curchods would be the first agent we would pick up the phone to if in due course we ever want or need to sell.
