Negative experience: I used Brown & Merry to manage my rental property for approximately two years. Unfortunately, my overall experience required repeated landlord follow-up to resolve issues that should have been handled through normal management processes. Key concerns included: • Management decisions made without prior landlord consultation or approval. • Administrative errors, including incorrectly completed documentation. • Lack of clarity and delays around financial transfers. • Communication delays requiring repeated follow-up. • Property management and maintenance oversight concerns. Since moving to a different management company, the difference in organisation, communication, and financial transparency has been significant. Based on my experience, I would encourage landlords to maintain close oversight of documentation, financial transactions, and management decisions if using this service.

Fantastic experience: I am in the process of signing a contract for a property that is being rented through Brown & Merry Estate Agents. We have had a very positive experience due to the excellent help we received from Alexandra Read (Alex) Senior Lettings Manager. I initially contacted Brown & Merry with a request to look at a property that was listed that day. Unfortunately, it was already allocated to someone else. I was disappointed as the property looked perfect. Alex was really reassuring and said she would look out for similar properties for me. Alex promised to get back to me quickly, which she did. Offering 2 excellent properties to look at which totally fitted my description of what I wanted. Alex was very helpful at the visit to the property I have chosen and used her expertise to match me with this incredible property. I found Alex to be sincere, interested and she invested extra effort by keeping us up to date with all the steps needed to apply for the tenancy. This has been so refreshing as we have had 2 properties that were listed with online Estate agent services. This service was not personal & the help was not there. 2 Properties were not made available due to the online distant process of application, which I chose to opt out of. My situation was complicated due to needing to find a rental within a short period of time, which has all worked out due to the right guidance and opportunities Alex found for me. Fantastic experience: Myself and my partner have recently moved into our first rental property together. We have been absolutely over the moon with the service specifically with our property coordinator Steph. She responds within 24 hours and most of the time it is within 2-3 hours and amazingly it is almost always with a solution already sorted. This has been amazing especially now myself and my partner have welcomed a baby girl into the world. Couldn't ask for more from Steph when the odd issue arises.

Fantastic experience: So after initially listed our house on the market in March 2024 to FINALLY completing last Friday, the one thing that was never a problem during the whole process was Brown & Merry, especially Klaudia. We had two sales of our house fall through, only for the third to finally stick. Each time Klaudia sold the house within 4 weeks and communication was great. Buying and selling a house is a stressful and at times demoralising task, but I can honestly say Brown and Merry were always great with us, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Through no fault of Brown and Merry the chain was not the easiest, (possibly a bit of an understatement there) but they went above and beyond to help get our sale over the line and proactively engaged with the solicitors and estate agents to help move things forwards. Negative experience: Terrible experience with this company, specifically the letting team. They call and chase you for payment but when it comes to doing their job, they unfortunately take their time. Got the keys to a property only to find out that there was no hot water or heating working. We went 11 days without heating or hot water, checks that should have been done before we were even given the keys. We have had no compensation or even a reduction, just a basic sorry. Not a great start.

I’ve been letting them via Brown & Merry at Stony Stratford in Bucks for about twelve years and I’ve been more than happy with Alex who has found me really good tenants and been particularly helpful along the way. She knows how much I think of her! I decided to use the ‘fully managed’ option about a year ago which is where I met Steph! I have been so happy, relieved and impressed with Steph and her abilities. She is a complete pleasure to deal with in all respects. She is kind, caring, very knowledgeable and professional. She replies to my emails concisely, practically before I’ve pressed send! I really can’t think of anything bad to say. Any reservations I had about letting go of the whole process of letting my houses have been completely blown away. Fantastic experience: Every aspect of our recent experience with Brown and Merry in Stony has been outstanding. We chose B&M to link in with our purchase house, and were quickly visited by Mason, who set us at our ease, helped us assess our requirements, and gave us a market value that turned out to be accurate and fair. Klaudia took on our file, carefully going through the paperwork, and explaining the process. The online B&M portal was helpful and kept us up to date with the early part of the sale. They gave us advice for the (excellent) photographer's visit, and arranged for the EPC to be completed. The team worked quickly to arrange viewings, even one before the sale had gone 'live'. When we (quickly) found buyers for the house, Klaudia and the team provided advice throughout the conveyancing process, and were an excellent go-between as we negotiated various aspects with the buyers. The sales team were always available to visit, or on the end a phone - and invariably gave excellent advice to enable the sale process to go smoothly. Updated review (year 2025) My tenant had to be evicted with rent in arrears, but thanks to the landlord and legal protection offered via Brown and Merry, it really minimised my loss. Now that I have to claim the insurance, I really appreciate Alex recommended this protection scheme to me last year, otherwise I'd really struggle right now. When finding a new tenant, Alex has been so efficient and communicative throughout the process. She has been diligent with housing the right tenant for my property, she is helpful, considerate, professional and approachable as usual. Fantastic experience: I am a single man (first generation immigrant) who moved to the UK (for the first time in my life) from India as a research fellow in early 2024. Back then I didn't know anyone in the UK - barring my boss! Upon arrival I checked into a hotel in Milton Keynes and began applying for properties to rent on RightMove. Although I had contacted several estate agents, Alex and Jenna were the ones who responded immediately and arranged my first viewing. When the first deal didn't get through (landlord opted for council housing) they took it upon themselves to help me secure another rental property in Milton Keynes - which they did in a couple of days. Within eight days of moving to the UK, I had secured a place to rent...it was only because of Alex and Jenna. House-hunting in a foreign country can be stressful and confusing - in my case it wasn't because Alex and Jenna tirelessly guided me through the entire process. They were (and still are) always available over the phone and email. Rarely in my life have I come across people who are so professional, expeditious and compassionate. Negative experience: Despite repeated requests to take me off their database they keep phoning and emailing. The people phoning don't seem to have a clue. I have had to add their phone to spam calls block list to get rid of this agent! So glad I did not select them to sell my house as they are hopeless! Update 11/7/24. Just had yet another nuisance call from Stony Stratford office. Clearly they do not understand Data Protection laws!! I will now be reporting this company.

Negative experience: Telephone conversation regarding a rental property advertised that had unfortunately been removed from the market, led into an additional conversation relating to another prospective property. It was at this point the female colleague learnt that my wife was disabled, and her immediate response to my wife was to tell her that she would need to pay a year in advance, a total sum nearing 16k. On receipt of this deplorable conduct, a complaint was made to the appropriate head office, which led to a conversation with a senior body, followed by email correspondence from the area manager. The explanation for the behaviour was honestly pathetic and stated that her actions were because there contracts ( plural) say so, following further nonsense and recusal: implying and or stating that this is normal practice and that it is not abnormal. Brown and Merry have acted intently with discrimination, dishonesty, and illicit incompetence. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Fantastic experience: I was originally suppose to view a property within Stony Stratford, but then changed my mind and went for a new build elsewhere. However I went for my mortgage with Brian at Brown and Merry, he was very patient with us, as we was first time buyers we were not aware of the process and what we have to do. Brian sat with us and went through every single thing, and was very quick with responses and questions we had. Our house was getting delayed as you can imagine with new builds, but Brian was very patient with us and kept us updated with every little thing. I highly recommend Brian as a mortgage broker, very professional and goes above and beyond to help you with the best product.

Fantastic experience: After 8 weeks of repeatedly calling/emailing letting agencies & rarely getting a response, I was giving up hope of finding a home. Then I saw a house with Brown & Merry, I left a voicemail/emailed over the weekend & was prepared to chase them as I have had to do with other agencies, but Charlie called me early Monday morning, listened to my situation & assured me they could help. Soon after I received a call from Alex who was equally as helpful & friendly, she assured me of a call back after speaking to the landlord. Shortly after, Charlie called me with the good news that I have the house & I was over the moon!
