We are an independently owned estate agency franchise serving the Reading area since 1999. Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Parkers Estate Agents. Bernadette kept me informed every step of the way and made the whole transaction feel straightforward and stress free. Fantastic experience: My experience with Parkers was one I couldn’t find anywhere else. Having viewed multiple houses with multiple different estate agents, Parkers took the extra step to make sure I was looked after throughout the process.Today Matthew assisted and guided the viewing process. Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. Worst renting experience I've ever known, impossible to contact them, they never answer the phone never respond to emails. Only way to get them to reply to an email is to withhold rent, and even then they respond once and then stop again. Been waiting over 2 years for basic repairs and now living in a flat with no working hob or oven, mould on the ceilings and recent work to fit new smoke alarms failed after 3 days and now have trunking hanging from the ceiling. The management in this branch refuse to address the problems and refuse to reply to emails. Having to take legal action to get your estate agents to do basic repairs to the place you rent is an absolute joke and should never happen but it looks like that must be the only option. We have attempted to put in a formal complaint but got nowhere with it as the management clearly don't care. DO NOT USE THIS BRANCH OR THIS COMPANY THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOTHING ELSE.

Negative experience: Estate agent arrived 20 minutes late to house viewing and forgot to bring keys to enter the properties. An extremely unprofessional first impressions of Parker’s Reading. I booked a house viewing with them for 3pm. We arrived at the property at 3pm, the estate agent wasn’t there so I called them up and I was informed that the estate agent was stuck in traffic and would be 5-10 minutes late, the estate agent then arrived 20 minutes late at 3:20pm. We were stood outside a house waiting on the street in the cold for them. Upon the estate agents 20 minute late arrival, she apologized and said she did not have the house keys to both of the properties we booked viewings for. The one thing you need for a house viewing she did not have. Failing to take any accountability she then began to blame her coworkers for not putting this house viewing in her diary blaming her coworkers for causing her delay and disorganization. I called up Parker’s 3 days before the house viewing, the day before the house viewing and 1 hour before the house viewing to get details about the house viewing. How then did her co-worker who looks after the incoming customer calls then fail to put this on her calendar? She offered to drive back to the estate agents to get the house keys which she should’ve had to begin with. We declined because with Reading traffic God knows how much longer that would’ve taken and there were other plans we had to attend to later that day. This was a terrible first impression of this company, showing poor communication, extreme mismanagement and total lack of accountability. It was a shame because my family and I had driven 1 hour into Reading to view these properties and were interested in viewing the houses as I am keen to buy a property this year. But if a company is behaving this unprofessionally at the beginning, it will behave like this throughout the whole house buying journey and I do not want to deal with such unprofessionalism. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Negative experience: I been charge several times and not allowed to share my ciews with them. Please avoid dealing with this agency. They speak very sweetly when you want to rent a place, but in the end they will charge and fine you for no reason, even when you return the property in an ultra-clean and well-maintained condition. I had a six-month agreement but stayed only four months. Despite this, I handed over the property after four months and paid the remaining two months’ rent in full. Even then, they showed no consideration whatsoever. They charged for cleaning three times under different terms and deducted £595 for a very old property that was cleaned and handed over in far better condition than when it was initially given to me. Everything was taken for granted, and no fair assessment was done. They deliberately use different people to handle different situations, passing you around until you become tired and frustrated, which allows them to extract as much money as possible. The worst part is Mathew, the director—a completely let us down who does not allow anyone to escalate matters beyond him. This makes it impossible to reach leadership or resolve issues fairly. His standard response to everything is simply “NO.” I lost two months’ rent and half of my security deposit due to their poor management and careless customer service. I am extremely disappointed, and this is the worst real estate agency I have ever dealt with in my life.

Negative experience: My experience renting from Parker’s in 2025 was poor and unprofessional leading me to move as soon as the break clause was up. I chose the property, in part, due to being advertised with a specific allocated parking space. This ultimately caused the issue as the parking management company required a physical permit and one was not provided, resulting in multiple fines issued to my car and having to find an alternative space for weeks whilst I attempted to resolve this with Parker’s. Unfortunately communication was poor during this period. After placing blame on the landlord for not providing information (that should already have been in their possession from renting this property for some time) we spoke to the landlord ourselves who had the information/ paperwork readily to hand. As it was so easy to obtain I can’t understand how a quick phone call would not have given Parker’s the same info. The issue dragged on for months and only started to be resolved after I contacted the head of rentals and the manager of the branch directly. I eventually managed to have the fines overturned though being out of pocket/ under threat of legal action for parking exactly as advised by the estate agent isn’t acceptable. I don’t believe this issue should have occurred in the first instance, let alone been ignored for as long as it was. As it stands I don’t trust this company so won’t be using them again.

The matter was investigated thoroughly at the time and, following an independent review by the Property Ombudsman, it was concluded that there were no shortcomings identified in the service provided by the agent and quoted: “4.1 I have not identified shortcomings in the service of the agent.” Once the required information was available, the issue was resolved and the penalties were overturned.

While we understand that you remain disappointed, we acted in line with our role as managing agents and worked to bring the matter to a conclusion. We wish you all the best going forward.

Negative experience: The worst agency I have dealt in my entire life. Our flat close to Addington Road had clear dump issues, consistently over 80% humidity despite dehumidifier on 24/7 collecting 2 litres of water daily. Many objects got damages by mould including laptops, clothing and optical instruments. I had pneumonia after I left the flat, and was on inhaler for months. My girlfriend was on steroid inhalers for months despite we never had asthma in our entire life. The agency refused to help, claiming they had fixed the issue and it was basically our fault. We refused the price increase as they lied about fixing the issue and we left the flat one year ago, what a blessing. We now live in a normal flat and normal humidity levels and never had any payback for the damage we had on our health and goods. All we can do is to warn everyone about this agency. In my opinion avoid, any other agency Reading seem to take these issues more seriously. Awful experience, STAY AWAY. Edit to respond to the agent: the problem was not fixed and we have evidence of that. What they call “appropriate action” was literally to paint two walls, they said they would replace the old windows but they never done it. The tenancy has long ended and I am truly glad about it, as we live in a normal flat and our health is not in jeopardy.

Negative experience: I have had a profoundly disappointing experience with this letting agency. Having rented from them in the past, I encountered consistent issues, including frequent and unnecessary inspections every three months. This constant monitoring felt more like harassment than professional conduct and created a very uncomfortable living environment. Additionally, the staff member I recently dealt with was exceedingly rude and unhelpful, making me feel like a burden simply for seeking assistance. This pattern of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on their professionalism. The other staff member I interacted with was not only unhelpful but also displayed a noticeable lack of courtesy, making me feel as if I were inconveniencing them by simply asking for assistance. This lack of professionalism and courtesy is unacceptable and has left me thoroughly dissatisfied. It is important to understand that refusing to acknowledge or reflect on negative feedback is unproductive. Continually deflecting criticism with excuses or dismissive remarks, rather than addressing the underlying issues, creates the impression that you believe your work is beyond improvement. This approach limits professional growth and discourages constructive dialogue. Feedback ,particularly when it is critical,is an opportunity to learn and improve. Ignoring it or responding defensively not only prevents progress but may also lead others to disengage or avoid future interactions. Despite having clearly explained the reasons for my one-star review in the email I sent today, your public response suggests a lack of professionalism in how customer concerns are handled. Such interactions can negatively affect trust and credibility. Based on this experience, I would not recommend your services, and I will advise friends and family to avoid using them in the future.

Negative experience: The worst experience I've had with an estate agent in Reading, which is saying something. There were so many problems that I ended up moving out within a month. A lot of the problems were to do with their dreadful customer service: - During an issue where I had no heating (in November), they provided two small heaters (for a two-bedroom house), but not for four days and not until the day it was fixed anyway. When the agent handed them to me, she said "Are you happy now?" - No solution was offered to the issue of having no hot water at this time, except when my property manager recommended that I fill the bath using the kettle. - I was told that no one at Parkers has the authority to engage an emergency plumber, which strikes me as an extremely dangerous policy. - My property manager refused to answer my calls after I dared to suggest that Parkers weren't being very useful. - They disagreed with me on an extremely important issue affecting the property, despite the fact that I had provided evidence and they had provided no counter-evidence. - They couldn't be bothered to read (or write) e-mails properly, and so I was often asked questions I'd already given the answers to. In addition to that, when I looked around the property it was in need of a professional clean, which I was told it would have. And indeed it did have this - but it occurred before other remedial work took place, so the property was not clean again by the time I moved in. Please don't put yourself through the aggravation. Find another property that is not marketed or managed by Parkers. EDIT: Regarding the response from the owner, please note that they have quoted the initial response from The Property Ombudsman, and not the response upon appeal, which upheld the complaints about customer service.

Negative experience: Rubbish like any british letting agency. The process is always the same: 1) Advertise an overpriced "ruin" known as room or flat nowadays though edited pictures to make it look better than it is. 2)During the viewing dont forget to lie and conceal important information from the tenant. Remember they dont give a damn about you, they just want your money. 3) After the contract is secured make sure to ask for a couple of months rent in advance as a deposit. Yes people renting nowadays dont want a roof on their head. Deep down they want to vandalize your property. You got us!!! 4) Should any issues arise make sure to take a couple of weeks to reply. In the event that someone insists about a repair in the rented "ruin" make sure to use your super powers! SECTION 21 EVICTION notice. Why? Because you dared to ask for some decency in your "ruin". NOPE. You dont matter my friend. But your pocket does. 5)Make sure to deliver the final blow! Keep the whole deposit by blaming the tenant for everything that is wrong inside the "ruin". After all it your reward for your "hard work". 6) Last step. While the tenant is trying to move out make sure to harass them and stress them as much as possible. Once they are out of the "ruin" re- advertise the "ruin" BUT dont forget to list at least 200£ more expensive. After all the more its "value" increases so do the chances for it to collapse. BRAVO!

Positive experience: My first viewing was fine. But for the second viewing, I arrived on time for a scheduled viewing but was left waiting outside the building for 15 minutes. Called the office three times and I was only told they would be with me shortly. They also didn’t answer the doorbell even though they were already inside the property.

Negative experience: Parkers has been a huge letdown. I've been waiting over two weeks for a basic mattress protector quote from Jay Carter, something that should take a minute. Communication is slow and unresponsive. Alice Beavis was just as useless...rude and unwilling to help with simple things like letting a plumber in to fix a leak. Everything was ended up being liased with the landlord directly anyway...not sure what's her purpose other than to delay and annoy tenants. Look elsewhere. Ideally, at an agency that doesn’t rely on fresh uni grads to run the show. They will be the first ones to take your money in exchange for disappointing service.

Negative experience: Probably the worst estate agent to rent with in Reading (I cannot comment on the sales department) but judging by all of the other negative reviews left by renters, I'm reassured that the service is genuinely appalling. We received nothing but rude customer service, ridiculous threats that the property had to be left in better condition than before, and deception regarding our tenancy terms. Thankfully, we had a very decent landlord with whom we had a relationship with so we would regularly report back to him, but Parkers Reading made a huge effort to give us a hard time for absolutely no reason for 18 months. On a positive note, the sales departments in the Earley and Woodley branches are amazing, which says more about the management of the Reading branch more than anything else.

Negative experience: Customer service on the phone was great as I was able to book quite a few viewings and met with politeness. That’s what the 2 star is for. However, there were 2 instances I wasn’t informed about viewings being cancelled which ruined the experience. 1st one- if I had not called the day before to speak about a different viewing and mentioned this one, I would’ve travelled there and wasted my time. I got a call an hour before on the day saying it was cancelled. Just not enough notice. 2nd one I was at the door at the time of the viewing and wasn’t informed until I called asking where someone was. I was told I’d been called the day prior to cancel it.. I don’t have any missed calls on my phone and requested why an email wasn’t sent as I travelled from a different city for this viewing. There needs to be more done to make sure people are aware of viewings aren’t going ahead as not everyone lives nearby and have to make prior plans to travel. Send emails and texts if people don’t answer.

Negative experience: Disappointing overall. The agent who came to sell the house on the open day knew nothing about it, hadn't read the Property Fact Form I spent time filling in, and worst of all, when he didn’t know the answer to a buyer’s question, he just made something up. I was standing right there! Incredible. No real surprise, though—this is exactly what I’ve come to expect from estate agents. I think because both the buyer and seller approach the agent, there’s no real requirement to be good at the job. Shame.

Negative experience: They really are just awful to both landlords and tenants. My landlord could have gotten a tenant much earlier for a higher rent than I was paying, but they cost him the extra income for absolutely no reason. I gave over two month notice (8th Oct), and told Mark Brooker that I'd be leaving much earlier (11th of Nov), so the property is available from that point onwards if they find a renter, and that I will continue to pay the rent until the end of the notice period in accordance with the contract with the previous agent until 19th of Dec (unless of course they found someone earlier, so the landlord is not at a loss). Mark Brooker being the useless that he is, advertised the property for the 3rd of January! So not only is the landlord not getting the extra income he would have gotten from the increase in rent, the property is now empty from the 20th Dec until the 3rd of Jan for no reason! I gave my notice early so they can take charge of the property, check it (while I'm paying the rent) get it ready for the market and advertise it asap, there was absolutely no justification for the loss of income to my landlord. Now I've been paying for 2 months for an empty property including council tax because these people are incompetent. Could have advertised the property earlier, but chose to be utterly useless and unhelpful. The only reason my landlord is tolerating their nonsense is because he's far away and doesn't want the hassle of finding another agent. If you're a landlord, look out for your best interests, find a better agent and have a direct relationship with the tenant, and you're likely to find better ways than these useless people.

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience with Parkers. I arranged a viewing for 9:30 am, but the agent arrived at 9:45 am, leaving a group of us waiting. When it was finally my turn, I was given barely 5 minutes to look around the property. To make matters worse, the agent had no information about essential details such as parking, gas/electricity setup, or the terms and conditions of the flat. It begs the question—why send an agent who isn't equipped to provide basic information? After traveling over an hour to attend the viewing, this experience was not only frustrating but also unprofessional on Parkers' part.

Negative experience: All good reviews seem to be a new experience with Parkers. Try them for 2 + years and say. I have had years of experience with Parkers Reading. Like most, I cannot afford huge rent rises in last years fobbing you off with excuses as to why for average size property without garden, away from town and not efficient in gas/electric as costly and lots of condensation in winter. In fact they concealed the mould problem before I have moved in, corrected later a bit but not fully. I have worked in facilities for years. Basically if you dont insulate house fully and dont have efficient heating system as maybe valves need changing or there is sludge in heaters, then flat gets dump. They would not bother as time is working somehow. Be aware and make your own decision. They will force you to leave, threat with notice if you do not pay ridiculous rent raise against your contract and if it doesnt work, they will give notice. But not to worry, I rather add more money to bigger and better property. I only wanted the price a bit down but asking over £100 a month more, that`s not OK. Regarding repairs if something is not totally dead, they will wait till it gives last breath and dies on you. One time I was asked to fill up bath daily because scaly electric shower was giving too hot water as was blocked and could burn me. For them I had hot water then why changing. Eventually they did. Parkers all this has emails evidence and reports so no need to say that you have had good reviews. Once I finish being busy, will take you to Ombudsman so you can explain how you had dealt with me. My advice to all is, get better jobs people to get more independent, as these agents know that there are too many people but not enough of houses and think they won with bullying tactics. I will update my review after check out and see if this at least looks fair. Some people state it is not. Parkers be aware that you do periodic inspections that you need to pick up things yourself too. Either way we will see this one. Response as per 16.8.2024- I am not making this review for you to do something as we are done talking, but making this review as free speech right for people to be aware, so they can decide what to do.

Negative experience: Renting houses in reading for over 10 years, Parkers estate it's the worst one so far. Be careful with them they will always try to add some ridiculous charges at end of tenancy just to not pay back yours deposit.

Negative experience: If you are a tenant looking to rent don’t go to Parkers. Although initially they seem very good but once you enter into contract not a good experience! I rented a flat from them which turned out is owned by one of their managers :)(you can assume who would they favour) . The flat was a mess. Extreme damp and mould problems and even destroyed my furniture. Although they had a vent and extractor fan installed (after ages)later but it was of no use. Then comes the pest infestation which they blamed on the building management but there was a hole in the kitchen so not sure how it was building managements’s problem again I had to bear the financial loss and the mental trauma of it. Zero realisation from the management. End of my tenancy here comes the fun part, they sent an absolute rubbish inventory report by an “independent surveyor “ we all know how independent that is but anyways the person basically mentioned issues which were because of mould and was charging me for it, then had things like dust on top of the shower (which was always there when I got it), and charged for other ridiculous cleaning like stated above. All in all they robbed me off my deposit which is not a surprise after reading the reviews this seems like a normal practice to them. Bottomline avoid renting from them if you do then forget about your deposit.

Positive experience: Thanks for your work, in the end house has been sold which was the target, but later than expected. My experience to sell our house with Parkers Reading, and in particular dealing with Harry has been a rollercoaster. A mix of bad luck, having had two times agreed offers and both pulling out of the process, and Harry and Co being more reactive than proactive with the sale and marketing. I felt had to keep asking for updates, how was the market, why we were not getting views, what else we could do to market it and to get interest, all the plan and initiatives came from me asking/ proposing to them, more than them calling me and telling the plan they had. Only after me pushing hard and mentioned I was thinking to leave to another agent and asking for an honest conversation with Harry, he and team found another round of potential buyers and one of them was the final one. If i can suggest something for Parkers to improve is: share with your client the actual weekly plan you have to market the house, and add something different each week, dont stick to same plan if you not getting offers over. That gives reassurance to the your customers as well as sell to sell house quicker.
