Fantastic experience: In selling my 2 bed flat with Winkworths, I found their service truly excellent. They were quick to respond, valued fairly and utilised an Offer in Excess Of mechanism achieved a good price. They did a single day viewing in Reading for 9 viewings resulting in 3 offers shortly after. I must highly commend Trudy which tirelessly pushed both up and down the chain for completion. She was always willing to take a call, even at all hours and was highly dedicated to pushing the solicitors along. They also provided invaluable advice to minimise future delays by getting things prepped in advance. In total for a chain of 3 properties they achieved a completion in about 10 weeks and that's including the Christmas break. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Negative experience: We were looking for a home to rent in the downtown reading area, and chose to schedule a viewing for a property being let by Winkworth. The agent who showed up was rude and knew absolutely nothing about the property. The property itself was in complete disrepair, which was absolutely not shown properly in the photos or the virtual walkthrough posted online. We drove from Salisbury for the viewing and it was a complete waste of our time. Avoid this agency unless you really enjoy being lied to.

Negative experience: I recently put my property on the market and invited Winkworths over to bid to market the property. The valuation with Winkworths was fine, but in the end I decided to go with a different Agent who had a better rapport with. The other agent was efficient and quickly secured a solid offer. Whilst proceeding with legals I got a call from Winkworths claiming they had received lots of offers for similar properties well above the price I had secured with the other agent, almost as if to try to rub it in my face that I had 'made the wrong decision'. Whilst its perhaps possible could achieve offers tens of thousands above the asking price, I find it pretty doubtful in the current market. (The property was put on high and reduced anyway, and promoted on Rightmove) It seemed totally pointless once a deal is going through to call simply to try and undermine my choice to go with another agent and give the impression that I would have made a lot more money with winkworths, especially given that in the original valuation they had suggested I put it on for was the lowest price out of all the valuations. The call came across as unprofessional, petty, embittered and honestly pretty slimy.

Negative experience: Rubbish like any british letting agency. The process is always the same: 1) Advertise an overpriced "ruin" known as room or flat nowadays though edited pictures to make it look better than it is. 2)During the viewing dont forget to lie and conceal important information from the tenant. Remember they dont give a damn about you, they just want your money. 3) After the contract is secured make sure to ask for a couple of months rent in advance as a deposit. Yes people renting nowadays dont want a roof on their head. Deep down they want to vandalize your property. You got us!!! 4) Should any issues arise make sure to take a couple of weeks to reply. In the event that someone insists about a repair in the rented "ruin" make sure to use your super powers! SECTION 21 EVICTION notice. Why? Because you dared to ask for some decency in your "ruin". NOPE. You dont matter my friend. But your pocket does. 5)Make sure to deliver the final blow! Keep the whole deposit by blaming the tenant for everything that is wrong inside the "ruin". After all it your reward for your "hard work". 6) Last step. While the tenant is trying to move out make sure to harass them and stress them as much as possible. Once they are out of the "ruin" re- advertise the "ruin" BUT dont forget to list at least 200£ more expensive. After all the more its "value" increases so do the chances for it to collapse. BRAVO!

Negative experience: Winkworth lettings department, particularly Jasmine, seem to be incapable of organising workmen to maintain the property. They often don't reply, and more often don't take any action.. It has currently taken since September 2024 to simply have a weather bar put on a door.

Positive experience: We used them for the sale of the house. Michael gave a good pitch to acquire the business but we had to stop the sale due the circumstance change and not hitting the expected target. We noticed that on a few viewings, there were more than one party seeing the house at the same time. We have given feedback as these needs to be better organised. We liked the 0 week contract which means we were not bound forever like other agents. Fantastic experience: I recently bought a house via Winkworth, and I couldn't be happier. I went to see the property and was greeted by the most honest and sincere Nicola Roberts (I have anxiety dealing with agents from past experiences, been looking for few years), she is knowledgeable, cares and really easy to talk to, you can tell she's confident with many years of experience. We've done a sealed bid with others, and my offer was accepted. There was no gazumping or playing around or negotiations past my offer, I sent my proofs and that was it, they respected the process. It's the integrity for me that sealed the deal. Nicola and the team have been extremely responsive (I'll often get a response within the hour) and helpful addressing any questions and forwarding questions to my seller. They'll step in when things appear slow or blocked. Buying a house is a difficult journey and inherently stressful (my mortgage lender insisted on two solicitors), I'm thankful that Winkworth played a great part in my journey.
