Sarah Thomas gave similar advice to the other agents, but was more personable and appeared to have better knowledge of the area and the local market conditions. After appointing Romans the team kept me informed of progress each week. Sarah had indicated she would find a proceedable buyer close to the asking price within three weeks - she did just that. Fantastic experience: A well established agency who develop and maintain good relationships with their buyers and vendors. Recent perspective, I inquired to arrange a short term let (with an eye to buying somewhere later) and Mark found me a perfect place with the option to buy it from the landlord. Steve liaised with Lansley’s (the agency handling the sale) and arranged a purchase beyond his own agency! Lorraine handled the contracts and ensured that the whole process progressed smoothly. Past perspective, 10 years ago, Romans sold my little terraced house for a good price with no fuss. Estate agents tend to be viewed through a lens of scepticism, but in my experience Romans are a safe option.

I called to enquire about a house that was available to rent in Theale and I found Mark P to be fantastic to deal with! Fantastic experience: Sarah at Romans recently sold our house and the process was very easy start to finish. Starting with valuation we received a realistic list price and expected sale price in line with the market. Beware of estate agents inflating value to win business! Multiple viewings then took place within a week and offers started coming in. Sarah and team coached us through the offers and we agreed on one that worked. There were a couple of hiccups along the way with the buyer but all sorted quickly and easily despite us being many miles away and hard to contact. The trust we had meant that often Sarah would know our response and explain it to the buyer so conversations went more quickly. The house was completed in three months which is incredibly fast.

Fantastic experience: A very positive experience from certain staff. We achieved more than the asking price and I can't speak too highly of Sarah Thomas in the Tilehurst branch. She went over and beyond, often chasing individuals after the branch had officially closed for the day. One negative was the portal It wasn't updated regularly and up until completion, it was showing "awaiting draft contract".

Negative experience: SLIPPING STANDARDS…I had previously posted a five star review, however things have changed…We moved abroad and chose to go with the fully managed property option with Romans as we didn't want the hassle of managing our property ourselves. Previously (around 4-5 years ago) we had nothing but positive things to say, however more recently we have become more and more unhappy with the service and the efficiency of their service compared to when we first started.

Negative experience: We used Romans in Tilehurst to sell our house, they were good at getting the house on the market and selling it but then seem to disappear. We had the odd email but had more information from Roots in Thatcham. They also recommended to our buyers to use PCS legal as their conveyancer and they were awful. They managed to delay the completion by mislaying the mortgage money.

Fantastic experience: At the time of searching for a new place to rent I was signed up with a few agencies in the local area and was receiving the standard treatment you would expect; emails regularly highlighting new properties (always slightly over budget) and a call every couple of days, rarely from the same person you spoke to originally. However, as soon as I engaged with Romans in Tilehurst and was put in contact with Mark it was a very different experience. Within minutes I was scheduled to a viewing and Mark was there to walk me through the property. I did not choose that one but Mark was really open and candid, advising that he had others to show me and worked to the mantra that if he wouldn't live there himself he wouldn't rent it, which I found to be hugely encouraging. Eventually we found a place which was in the location we were looking for and within budget. I won't go into detail but Mark was really candid about the property, something which I really appreciated, and the open and honest communication both with Mark, and through him, with the landlord (who I have since met both him and his wife and they are amazing!) helped me make a decision which turned out to be 100% the right one and we are now (mostly) settled in and making the new place a home. Throughout the whole process, which was a lot more detailed than I last remember when taking on a new tenancy, but is hugely reassuring not just to those renting but must also be for landlords and prospective landlords, the agency and all associated with them have been great. I must also put a special mention out to Nathan who was also amazing, and still is, with any queries we have and is hugely knowledgeable (even when looking at boilers!). I cannot thank Mark, Nathan, and the expanded team enough, I will definitely be staying with Romans as my agency of choice.

Positive experience: Quick enough to want your rental deposit, slow to pay it back!. Probably sat in their own account for 10 days earning them interest instead of paying it back straight away. Then, after posting a 2* review, received a phone call from Steve (lettings manager) telling me that I’d mis-entered my name and account number to their system and that it was my fault they couldn’t pay it. Told me they had text or emailed me about this - but they hadn’t. Asked me to edit or remove the review. Told me I was lambasting them for something which was clearly my fault. Interestingly enough, my deposit was returned later the same day however I very much doubt it would have been without a poor review! I’ll give them another star for returning my deposit.

Negative experience: Very poor letting agent. I was a tenant for 2.5 years in a property. They didn't liase with me once, they received some fabricated complaints. Instead of letting me know, they got the landlord to communicate this to me 5 months later. Seems they are the only letting agent I know that's scared to pick up a phone I was an estate agent for years and managed a branch. That negotiator would be getting the sack in any normal branch. Seems they let a property and then believe the job is done, despite being paid to manage the tenancy. Seems they would rather sit in the pub than do any work.

Fantastic experience: I found this branch of Romans excellent in all the dealings I have had with them. I found Nathan to be very polite and he certainly knew his stuff. Negative experience: I have only great experience with Romans Agency, especially with Levi. He was always very helpful, always in contact with as, very professional. I met before couple different estate agents, and noone was that good as Levi. There is nothing more I can say, except for a huge thanks. (Edit) As soon as some issues appeared in the flat agency turns out to be useless. No communication, delays with everything. At some point I end up in apartment full of mould, with no plans of fixing the issue and without a freaking cooker for a month. At the beginning everything seemed to be amazing but as soon as two weeks into a contract problems started and they were never fixed. I rented with few agencies, from private landlords, even during covid and I’ve never had that bad experience!!! No recommendations.

Fantastic experience: I can't thank Romans Tilehurst enough, especially Lloyd Floyd. We're first time buyers and had quite a disappointing experience attempting to buy a property last year, mainly because of the agents we were dealing with at the time. So when we decided to give it another go this year and found a property advertised by Romans, we were naturally cautious from the start, but Lloyd and everyone else working at Romans proved that not all agents are the same. From booking the viewing to viewing the property and placing a bid, to helping me find financial adviser, solicitors, surveyors, viewing the property a second time, Lloyd made sure everything ran smoothly, calling with regular updates and being the perfect middle man between all the parties involved. We're picking up the keys to our first home today and I can't be happier and more grateful to Lloyd and his team for making one of the supposedly most stressful times in any adult's life, look like a walk in the park. Negative experience: I must agree with some of the more negative reviews here. They oversell their services, promising more than they know they can deliver and then when they can't deliver, they blame the customer. They overvalued our house to get the contract (and read the small print, it's the longest tie-in date I've seen and was so rushed to sign the contract I didn't notice it) and then blamed us for following their advice on the price. We listed it below the top price they recommended as even we thought that was too optimistic and we were keen on a quick sale. The reality is they couldn't get any serious buyers though the door. Over 50% of the booked viewings were no shows which was disappointing. As for viewings, I hope they didn't view our property in the same way we were taken by them to view others. On the viewing we took the salesman stood by the front door and let you look through the house yourself. Good job when we had viewings on our property, we had good mind to hide away valuables from prying eyes. There's lots of 5 stars on here, I guess properties now sell themselves and when there's no issues they get 5 stars, when it's not this straightforward it all seems to fall apart. Communication was also poor. Do your homework before selecting an agent, compare at least 3 and read ALL the small print.

Fantastic experience: One of Agent called Lloyds who served me very well! He is so professional and well prepared all required supplement information for reference. His prompt response also impressed me and always arrive the property on time which I think it’s important as an agent! He’s great!

Fantastic experience: My partner and I have had a fantastic experience using Romans and couldn’t recommend them more. Dan Hind arranged and took me on the viewing of the property and even facilitated a second viewing of the property. He has been extremely helpful throughout this whole experience, providing a friendly and professional service. Negative experience: I have had numerous issues with trying to rent a property. I would honestly discourage landlords from listing properties with this team. We were able to secure another house (thankfully) within a fraction of the time it took Romans to process our application weeks after we initially applied to Romans. I am currently looking into whether or not some of the issues are legal as I do not believe they have acted in our or the landlord's best interests.

Fantastic experience: Molly Greenfield oversaw our move-in process and she was great. Overall, we have been really pleased with communication and service provided from Romans - very helpful and supportive agents.

Molly Greenfield dealt with my new tenancy and tenants and I have to say I was extremely please with the way it all went - seamless and painless!!
