Negative experience: We got four estate agents to value our property. All of them followed up with us the following week except Hillyards. I put it down to maybe an admin error and thought no more about it when we went with another agent. While looking for a new house for ourselves I emailed Hillyards to request a viewing of one of their properties. They did not reply. I eventually rang the office and arranged the viewing that way. Today we went to the property at the alloted time only for the agent to not turn up. I rang the office and after being put on hold was told they would be there in 10-15 mins. We had another viewing so we could not wait around. We began driving off when an elderly lady came to the door and waved us down. We explained the situation and she invited us in to view on our own without the agent. The agent then rang the lady while we were there and she complained that this was the second time they had failed to appear at a viewing. Overall this agent lacks professionalism and organisation skills. They have let down this elderly couple and I would be amazed if they get their house sold through Hillyards.

Fantastic experience: The team at Hillyards, both sales and lettings have and continue to be brilliant. A difficult time to sell has found me on the rental side of the business. It has been a simple process despite being my first time through. Big thanks to George and Demi on the sales team who have always been on hand for queries and conversations during the sales process and Phil in the lettings team who has supported more recently. Fantastic experience: From the initial contact to the sale of my house Hilliards have been very impressive. Martin took excellent photos and was happy with my suggestions as to what to photograph. Negative experience: A deeply disappointing and discriminatory experience - RACIST director I had an extremely disheartening experience with the managing director of this business, which I can only describe as an encounter with passive, covert racism. Before even taking the time to understand who I was or what my enquiry was about, he made assumptions about me — clearly based on prejudice. It wasn’t until I explicitly told him my profession and the qualifications I hold that he changed his tone and issued an apology. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional but completely unacceptable — especially from someone in a leadership position. The damage, however, had already been done. His initial treatment of me exposed a clear lack of respect and a disturbing bias that no one should have to tolerate. I later spoke with George over the phone, who was sincere in his apology on behalf of Terry and even asked that I refrain from writing a negative review. While I appreciated George’s professionalism, it does not excuse the conduct I experienced. I strongly advise others to think twice before engaging with this business. If the managing director himself cannot uphold basic principles of respect and fairness, it raises serious concerns about the values of the company as a whole.

Fantastic experience: My cousin is now in a nursing home and she asked me as her Lasting Power of Attorney to sell her apartment for her. I asked three Estate Agents to come to the apartment to quote me a reasonable price for selling it, to negotiate a reasonable fee if successful and with the option to change from sole seller to multi seller after a fixed period, which I negotiated Hilyards down to eight weeks. I engaged Hilyards because Martin, who came to see me, impressed me more than the other two, the negotiated fees and conditions were favourable and I had a better feeling for the company. In all, I think I spoke to three people on the phone (I live around 130 miles away in the remoter but beautiful part of the country, Norfolk). Everyone was helpful. The apartment was under notice of sale within a few weeks and the company, Hilyards helped the sale to go through smoothly. They even offered to collect the mail just before the contracts were exchanged, to get rid of advertising flyers and keep the letters and cards which they thought we might want until I collected them on the day of exchange. I cannot find anything to complain about and could not fault anyone with whom I came in contact. Martin even recognised me and remembered my name, the property address and my cousin's name on the two occasions when I went in to the office. I would whole heartedly recommend Hilyards Estate Agents as a business and each person who works there to anyone who wants to buy or sell a property through them. I can only give 5 stars - I wish I could give 10. Michael

Negative experience: Can easily afford the rent but don't have the best credit still will not help you, have a good guarantor in place still will not help you, have great references from previous landlords and estate agents just like them but still will not help you, work full time and in the healthcare so work very hard for people have amazing employment references and guess what they still will not touch you all because of credit!! how unfair is that!! I would stay clear of this estate agents many more out there willing to help people that don't have the best credit this firm are NOT one of them. regarding your comment that is exactly what happened!! you explained nothing when I emailed you it was just no can't help, why not explain why I was no suitable, in my email I explained everything which was personal, and the reply was just cold no explanation at all just can't help adverse credit take care. You have a duty to the landlord fair enough, even tho the tenants pay the landlords mortgages, tenants are people to and like to be treated better than that especially when they have taken the time to explain personal things. your phone call was to late you should of explained your reasons in the first place

In regards to the sale price, he was the only estate agent who valued the house at what we thought it was worth and we ended up selling it for what he valued it at which we were really happy about.
