Negative experience: Strangely an estate agent that doesn’t like to book viewings. I’ve been very interested in a property, Millbrook in Baglan, for a few months, yet the agents are unwilling to book a viewing, despite the property being on the market for around a year. I tried to book a viewing in April, but as the agent was going on holiday (4 days after my call) he wouldn’t book a viewing until his return, I asked multiple times to book, but he refused. He called me back in May and offered me a midweek day around 10 days later. Frustrated with the lack of customer service, I declined. Last week, I swallowed my pride and reached out again to view the property, I received a generic response a few days later, I sent all requested info and then received a response from Simon stating that due to the heat they’re not booking any viewings. Again, I asked if I could book a future viewing and pointed out previous issues I’d experienced with the company. He flatly refused and said I’d have to await his contact, exactly the same as what happened in April. Every other agent is still booking viewings, just not Abbey. It’s very frustrating for a purchaser, I’m not in a chain, my house has sold, I’m staying with family and ready to move quickly on a purchase, so perfect buying position. However, from the vendors point of view, this agents working practices and reluctance to work with purchasers will surely negatively affect the sale of your property. I’d happy to adjust this review if there were improvements with the agent, but think it’s unlikely considering I’ve tried twice. Finally, if anyone knows the vendor of the house in Millbrook in Baglan, please advise them to change agents as I’m very keen on the property.

Negative experience: I rarely leave negative reviews, but after more than three weeks of trying to arrange viewings, I feel compelled to share my experience. I initially contacted Simon about three properties I was interested in and asked if it would be possible to view them together. He took all of my details and confirmed he would get back to me. A few days later, he advised that he could only arrange one viewing because one property was under offer and he didn’t yet have a key for the other. I viewed the available property, but unfortunately it wasn’t suitable. I made it clear that I was still very interested in the other two properties if circumstances changed. Both properties are still being advertised for sale at the time of writing. Since then, I have spoken to Simon on several occasions. Each time I have provided my availability, I have been told he would get back to me, but he hasn’t. On one occasion I even had to send a follow-up message after hearing nothing for several days before receiving another call, where I again gave my availability. Unfortunately, I’m still waiting to hear back. As a buyer, this has been incredibly frustrating. As a seller, I would also be disappointed knowing that a genuinely interested buyer has been trying for weeks to arrange a viewing without success. Good communication is a fundamental part of estate agency, and unfortunately that has been lacking throughout my experience. I last interacted with Simon around 10 years and remember him providing a much more proactive and customer-focused service in the past. Sadly, that hasn’t been my experience this time.

Fantastic experience: I recently moved home staying within the Neath area and can honestly say it is purely down to Simon we got through the process. From the very start when he came to view my property for sale, he was very polite and very professional - instantly it was obvious he was experienced and a very knowledgeable estate agent. He was selling the property we were also interested in. I explained that due to my availability with work I was restricted to what days I was able to attend a viewing and he was happy to provide a viewing on the weekend when he was due to be off. The sale of my property was advertised very quickly. Available on his website and third-party websites such as OnTheMarket and Zoopla within days. We had our first viewing within 2 weeks of the advert going live and even received an offer on the first viewing. During the legal process I believe Simon saved the sale/purchase from going through. When all was failing with awful communication with the solicitors, Simon was always available to give us updates as he received them from the others involved in the chain. Even when I was able to get through to my solicitors to be told there was nothing new, Simon would be able to provide me details that he had received. Always one step ahead of the solicitors giving me information even the solicitors didn’t have. I was completely new to the process of selling/buying at the same time as I had only been a first-time buyer before. He was very patient and very informative of the process making sure we were aware of what to expect and what would be needed along the way. I am relieved that we chose to go through this process with Simon and very grateful for everything he was able to offer and provide to us, and if we decide to move again, we will definitely be contacting Simon again.

When you are deciding if this review is impartial I can state this is and I haven’t been paid or rewarded to post the review. Simon offers a high quality and honest service. The sales brochure was good, the photos were good quality and were a true reflection of the property without filters and effects added. There was a virtual tour which also reflected the property accurately. He was very responsive to emails and calls always answering them within hours sometimes even within minutes. Simon made the sale process straightforward finding a buyer within 1 day. Regarding his fees, he is transparent with them and nothing is hidden, with a clear explanation given for how they are set.
