Fantastic experience: Excellent agency — very supportive, always responsive, and truly caring. They helped me find a great rental property and looked after me throughout the whole process. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Avoid this estate agent and associated landlords at all costs. Our apartment was dirty when we moved in with a grimy oven that hadn’t been cleaned. When we moved out we used the estate agent’s own recommended local cleaning company and paid them for a deep clean. The estate agent then tried to play ignorant and keep £600 (yes, £600) of our deposit for ‘cleaning’ fully pushing our deposit into a dispute. Absolute criminals, luckily the deposit protection schemes have more common sense and awarded us the majority of it back. Don’t use their recommended cleaners as you won’t get an invoice and don’t use this estate agent if renting.

Fantastic experience: Bradley was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process and always reassured us when we worried our offer would fall through. We are very grateful for all his help and could not recommend him more!

Fantastic experience: Friendly team, we viewed a few properties with this team after receiving a recommendation from a friend that they were a good estate agents to go through. We had good experiences with Bradley and with Mercedes who helped us secure our tenancy. They were supportive and communicative throughout the experience.

Fantastic experience: Bradley was very helpful through the early stages of my application, especially during the viewing. He showed me around and answered all my questions patiently. He was also very communicative prior to the viewing and after the viewing as well. He has explained all my options to me comprehensively and given me the benefits and disadvantages of all my options. I would definitely recommend him.

Negative experience: Unprofessional and misleading. 0/10. Reported major maintenance and safety issues (mould, broken doors/windows) from the start of tenancy (first day) which were never addressed, yet rent was increased regardless. At the end of the tenancy, they used an inaccurate check-out report to target our deposit. The property photos used for ads are outdated and do not represent the actual state of the house. Extremely disappointed—avoid this company and its parent group.

Negative experience: (AVOID AT ALL COSTS) Sale collapsed after 6 months — lack of due diligence and communication We had an extremely disappointing experience trying to sell our property through this branch. We were encouraged to proceed with a buyer who, as we only discovered months later, did not have a mortgage in place. Despite repeatedly asking for updates over a six-month period, we were reassured the purchase was progressing — only for the sale to collapse once the buyer finally applied for a mortgage and was unable to secure one. As a result, we also lost the home we were in the process of buying, which added to the stress and frustration. When we requested our file notes, the information we received raised serious concerns. The notes did not reflect the level of contact we had or the lack of progress we repeatedly questioned. It was extremely confusing and left us feeling misled about how our sale had been monitored and managed. We expected proper checks and clearer oversight of the buyer’s position from the start, especially regarding financial readiness. This entire situation could have been avoided with basic due diligence and transparent communication. Instead we lost half a year, missed multiple opportunities and went through a huge amount of unnecessary stress, all for a sale that was never in a position to complete. To add to this our formal complaint went unanswered. The lack of acknowledgement or accountability has been incredibly disappointing and is the reason we have now instructed another branch.

Fantastic experience: The staff Bradley Bevan who was with me at the time of viewing was very good. I gave 5vstar rating. He explained everything about the property and the process and its very helpful. ​​​​

Fantastic experience: Moginie James have over many years done a very good job of finding the best tenants for my property and this year Bradley has been absolutely marvellous in a difficult situation. They have also been assiduous in monitoring new tenants and helping me keep on top of maintenance.

Negative experience: If I could put negative starts I would. I rented with Moginie James for 4 years as a student and I’ve been left traumatised. Throughout the 4 years there was a leak in the shower that they didn’t bother to fix until there was a MASSIVE hole in the living room ceiling. And then they “fixed” just they didn’t so I was just left with A LEAKY HOLE for WEEKS! And when they finally fixed it they opened YET another hole on the wall and left us without a shower for a week. My housemate had to drive to the motorway to use a public shower and they never really fixed the holes. When I asked for a compensation they just said I could still use the property so they saw nothing wrong with it and when I went to their offices to demand my deposit back THEY LITERALLY CALLED THE POLICE ON ME AND MY FRIENDS. The way these people treat their customers is ridiculous. They’re so unprofessional and unresponsive. They have like a thousand different departments and they can never fix anything. I would rather chop my left arm off than rent with Moginie James again. I advise everyone, ESPECIALLY STUDENTS, to stay away from them. They will treat you like shit and have you live in shit and then blame you for it.

Negative experience: I'm currently renting a property managed by Moginie James and it’s been a COMPLETE nightmare from the start. We moved in to find the flat unlocked, uncleaned, and only one set of keys provided but this was just setting the precedent for the next 12 months. Since then, we’ve had to chase constantly to get anything fixed — severe damp, a broken hob (now a fire safety hazard as it’s permanently on), blocked drains, curtain rails falling off, just to name a few — all ignored for months unless we threaten to withhold rent. Messages go unanswered, repairs are promised but no one shows up, and nothing happens even with persistent weekly follow-ups. It’s an incredibly stressful way of living, knowing neither the landlord nor agent cares about your wellbeing or safety I’m writing this out of pure desperation, hoping it finally forces Moginie James to sort the long list of unresolved issues. Stay far away from this company.

They have been really good at responding quickly to enquiries, really helpful with lots of information and regularly check in to keep me up to date. All the properties are very well managed and they have excellent information and advice about the Residency Scheme and Tenant Liability Insurance. They have a brilliant website which clearly guides you through applications and is a brilliant resource. I was shown around by Andrew in the Roath office who was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and really made an effort to give me as much information about the property as possible. He also checked other details and got back to me to answer my more complicated questions. I would highly recommend them.

Negative experience: The reference-checking system is so worst, that they can't even listen to our words even if they get wrong. Be careful while paying holding deposits or any other payments before the tenancy agreement they will not return a single penny to us if the mistakes on both sides, and they will point out our mistakes and keep the money in their pockets. I recommend to not to go with this Agency please. Money will be wasted.
