Positive experience: Charters recently helped me find a rental, which was an overall positive experience thanks to a few members of the team - Dylan was incredibly helpful during the early stages whilst securing the flat and went above and beyond (even outside work hours) to progress the process. I wish I could give 5 stars, however the level of diligence and communication which I received at the beginning was not consistent from other members of the team all the way up to the move-in date. Phone conversations and emails were left unanswered or brushed off for an extended period of time. If I hadn't chased dozens of times over the phone, I wouldn't have received any form of communication until the day before move-in. I would've easily given a 1* review if it hadn't been for the positive experiences elsewhere. Once matters are passed into the hands of others such as Sarah, communication was clear and also reassuring. From my experience it wildly depends on who you're able to reach over the phone.

She encouraged us to see a variety of properties - in a completely non-pushy way - which really helped us to work out exactly what it was we were looking for. It's all too easy to look at Rightmove and either fall in love with or dismiss a property very quickly, without even seeing it. Fantastic experience: Charters have been brilliant in managing the rental of my Mother’s house. Proactively marketing the property whilst I prepared it for letting, but also in helping me to find reputable people to do this work. The first tenants have been very good, but as this was only a 12 mth tenancy Gary and Sarah picked up the search well in advance and have secured new tenants to take the house on with a minimal gap. Highly recommended, especially as the rental income is supporting my Mother’s residential care.

Positive experience: Firstly, I'd like to give some praise to Sarah Bainbridge who was very accommodating and showed me properties that weren't even posted online, one of which ended up being perfect for me, so thank you for that! She's also been super nice in all of her correspondence with me. Secondly (note that this is not Sarah's fault) though there were some issues with lack of information from the Agency and lack of transparency about who managed my property that I would have expected to be cleared up in the tenancy agreement at the very least. Nevertheless, I did rent the property and the process was fairly smooth, the Goodlord app is pretty good - though I recommend you stay away from Tili.

Fantastic experience: I’m starting my second tenancy with Charters in Winchester and want to highlight the excellent service from estate agent Ash Lovell. Ash took note of my preferences early on and, when the time came, proactively reached out with a list of suitable properties. He arranged a convenient weekend viewing, and the property perfectly matched my criteria. I highly recommend Charters and Ash for their efficiency and professionalism in finding the ideal home.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, extremely difficult to buy a house through Charters from recent experience... I've never had to work so hard to try and spend the thick end of a million pounds before. What a shame. I have a property I need to sell going to market imminently, and based on my experience, I shall be using someone else for this. I wouldn't usually write an online review, but when I offered my feedback directly to them, I was addressed with a somewhat condescending tone and told "this has always been our policy". Somewhat like the (attenpted) purchasing experience with a Rolex AD, it seems like you need to be "lucky enough to pass criteria" to be considered as a potential customer... As they apparently aren't willing to receive constructive feedback & adapt to learn and better accommodate the needs of customers, I felt duty-bound to inform others who may want to avoid frustration when trying to find a house to buy/reach a wider audience when selling a property.

Fantastic experience: Wanted to take the time to say how wonderful Ashley Lovell from the lettings team at Winchester was in trying to find me a new rental property when the current rental I was in was put up for sale. Ash's patience and dedication to finding somewhere that suited mine and my children's needs was relentless and he went out of his way to find me suitable properties often giving me first viewings. I would highly recommend Ash as a go-to for anyone in the Winchester area looking for a new rental property, especially those who are time-poor and want to feel more than like just another number to an estate agent - a real professional and personalised service! Fantastic experience: Charters Estate agency is a trusted… Charters Estate agency is a trusted agency, very professional and kept me updated throughout the whole process. Ms Jo Goddard was fantastic, she reassured me at every step and was promptly informing me of all updates. I would definitely recommend them and would work with them again in the future!

Negative experience: Disorganised liars. Lured us to the market with the promise of lots of interest and completely overvalued our house. Terrible photos of the property. After house viewings we had to chase them for feedback and would not hear anything for days. Charters would call to say a viewing had been cancelled which we weren’t aware of in the first place, and then suggest we were to blame. Very disappointed with our service from Charters and would not use again.

Negative experience: Absolutely dreadful company to rent from. If I could give them zero stars I would. I would not recommend this estate agent to anyone if you are renting. Our problems started from the day we moved in when we realised there was no working electric meter. We contacted charters about this and they didn't want to know about it so we spent months resolving this issue and getting a new meter. It cost us a lot of money in inaccurate estimated meter readings also. When roofing works were carried out on our property, they allowed the roofers to use our car port as apparently the landlord had agreed to this. Nice or him to let us know. We were told when we complained we would get compensated for this which surprise surprise, we did not. We had an issue with an internal leak in our property which went on for months and again cost us a fortune in water bills. We also had an issue with a shower not draining which they took months to fix. To top it all off, the tried to increase our rent which we attempted to negotiate and we were issued a section 21 notice because of this. We were great tenants, paid rent on time every month and kept the property spotless. They are now trying to deduct almost 300 pounds from our deposit for cleaning when we spent 3 hours cleaning the place before we left. Avoid these cowboys. Edit: I see you have responded to my review saying I made "aggressive phone calls". At no point was I aggressive to any members of your team. You may be confusing assertiveness for being aggressive. This is a defamatory comment.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend the Charters Estate Agents in Winchester. Cameron Broom, in particular, was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and a great listener. He really worked on understanding our rather unique situation and provided much needed information, guidance, and support.

Negative experience: The experience I have had renting with this agency has been really disappointing. From being told by my property manager that we should put up with a camera on our front door as "CCTV is everywhere" and just generally our concerns being completely ignored. Renting your first flat should be a really exciting time, but I feel completely let down by Charters Winchester.

Fantastic experience: Charters Estate Agents in Winchester have been fantastic in my House purchase journey. The whole team have really assisted me in the process of buying our family home and my main contact Mark Dryhurst was instrumental makings sure the sale went smoothly and in helping me understand the process from start to finish as this was my first time buying a house in the UK. The Charters process was great with regular updates and it enabled a clear communication channel between myself and the Seller. Fantastic experience: I was very impressed by the level of service we received from everyone at Charters throughout our house sale. Mark Dryhurst was very professional and called regularly with updates and we felt completely in the loop with everything at all stages. He was also very open and upfront at the start about sale prices and length of time for different elements.
