Lewis was our guy, we met him at the viewing(s) and often met him in branch to sort what needed sorting! The dude was great and made the process feel a lot less stressful and laborious.

Negative experience: Landlord got us to sign a new lease and then immediately started pressuring us to move out because she'd lost her job. William H Brown joined in, telling us we should move out early 'as a sign of good faith' (presumably code for 'and maybe we won't steal your deposit').

Fantastic experience: So, I moved over from the States to start a new job, and was lucky enough to have a dual citizenship. However, my boss asked me to start a month early, which meant I really badly needed a permanent address to set up banking and home office and so forth. The online services were not helping and the first estate agent I walked into said they did not do lettings, only mortgages. Obviously I was a little stressed by the time I stumbled into William H Brown. I was in such luck, because I met Buster Blore, who is hands down one of the best agents I have worked with on a rental (including in the States!) Not only did he set me up with a viewing immediately, when that flat was taken by another tenant, he actually found an even better fit for me so that when he called with the news, I had a wonderful alternative option. By this time it had to be about 7 in the evening, but Buster actually came out to do a tour of the flat, which is an incredible space, and he stayed with me to help me reserve the space and figure out how to pay the holding deposit with my troublesome American banking methods. Now, in just over a week after landing in London, I have a beautiful flat that I am moving into and which I can furnish over the weekend so as to start work Monday in my own space without the extra stress of working from hotels and such. Not only did Buster and his team go above and beyond to help me find a beautiful home in record time while answering a million silly questions from a Yank, Buster also provided wonderful information on countless topics of interest to a newcomer, from banking and food to travel and shops (along with local slang!) Buster is highly competent, professional, and kind, and he represents his team admirably while going above and beyond to help each and every customer. I have observed him while helping other people in queue or on the phone, and no matter how busy and stressful the workload may become, he treats everyone with dignity and respect. I was genuinely blown away by the kindness and professionalism of this team and the way they helped reduce the considerable stress of my first international move. I cannot recommend this company enough, with special commendation for Buster. Thank you so much for all of your help! Now I know who to turn to when I eventually look at larger places or even a house.

Negative experience: Worst experience they took 500 deposit money first then will take 2 weeks time and in my case they took 3 weeks after 3 week they were saying they need guarantor otherwise we cant able to rent that property. I gave them but then they said you cant get this property because your guarantor do not have British citizenship. They cant give back my deposit. Moreover, In initial they were saying you don't need any guarantor but they step back from their words. So be careful.

Negative experience: It's clear that many people have had a positive interaction with William H Brown but that was not my experience. I was a buyer of a property and they were the agent for the sale. I expected to have a good relationship with them as I'd had with the very transparent, constructive and fair agent I'd worked with as a buyer previously (Ben Allman) but throughout the six month sale I found that to be manifestly not the case. Why? The agents did not respect or address the conditions of my offer, allowing deadlines/conditions to pass without replies. I frequently encountered (sometimes lengthy) out of offices from agents with no cover. This happened at least 6 times with no warning. When cover was requested I was told it wasn't necessary. The agent didn't appear to want to help with anything and directed all matters she could through the solicitors (eschewing the pragmatic and facilitative role an agent can play vs the more challenging solicitor avenue) - e.g. should solicitors be the initial avenue for a short dialogue on whether some chairs could be purchased, or some wood left behind? Made a constructive dialogue between buyer and seller very difficult by creating a cold, adversarial atmosphere where good natured compromise felt impossible and tit for tat behaviours inevitable. I couldn't understand this and could only surmise her idea of doing a good job was acting as a hard nosed "tough negotiator" but instead it was only by a whisker we decided to not walk away from the deal almost on principle. They tried to disregard their particular ways of doing things by insisting that it was industry standard (much research and experience made clear it wasn't) - essentially gaslighting and dismissing buyer concerns. On a positive note they generally did respond (hence the two stars), it's just that those responses were invariably, unhelpful and cold and often counterproductive. When selling or letting my house, I won't be using William H Brown, though I hope this feedback is useful.

Negative experience: Deeply regret the day I signed up with WHB Norwich office to sell my home. In short I'll sum them up as their priorities are their own interests not yours. Both the sales persons assigned to me became argumentive when I refused their advice and where also pushing for me to sell at a lower price than I knew my house was worth. The house was sold within 6 weeks to the type of buyer I wanted, at the price I wanted but it was no thanks to WHB Norwich.
