Fantastic experience: Having initially used traditional estate agents with some not always giving me clear advice, using openrent was a game changer. Landlord response times helping understand when an answer is likely, landlords communicating directly and in my experience honestly on where they were with options. And all the financial checks and references cleared so efficiently it took a lot of frustrating phone calls out of the system. The portal shows you exactly what stage everything is at. Great service

Negative experience: AVOID IF POSSIBLE. TOTAL. I needed landlord electricity certificate for my rental property. ''Engineer'' called Chris contaced me prior inspection. I have explained that I had plastic old fuse board, which most likely would fail the test. Emgineer asked me to send him picture of my old fuse box. After that said that it should be fine. On the day of inspection, he stend about 10 min in the house, issued failing certificate, sold me a resolution story to which he never becam eaccountable for. Then tried to sell me his services for around £1'000 to make things righ. TOTAL SCAM

Fantastic experience: This was my first time letting a property through OpenRent and I had a very positive experience. Fantastic experience: I’m a landlord with only 2 properties rented. Although I am a registered agent as well as a registered landlord, I still found OpenRent very useful in finding a new tenant this time. It kept me at arm’s length from the process of vetting potential tenants and it carried out the checks on my behalf so I wasn’t directly involved and could choose not to proceed (if things weren’t right) much more easily.

Fantastic experience: Renting a property is a complicated process but not with OpenRent. Every process on their app is not only intuitive but simple to understand. The App keeps you informed as you go thru every part of the process from advertising to contract signing and final payment of rent. I have been using OpenRent for more than five years now doing at least 3 rentals every year. I have not had one moment to complain. Tenants are very happy and I am very happy. Something I only just found out is that the App helps you to keep accurate records of any tenant issues. I suggest you use it for managing your tenancy.

Positive experience: I couldn't work out why I was going pay the big estate agencies 10% to find a tenant and then continue to charge this after the first year. This takes a lot more time and you get a lot more time wasters, however if you have the time it will save you lots of money

Negative experience: I was asked to add the EPC rating, which I did days ago, however today advert has been removed (due to no epc rating!) and impossible to contact anyone by phone. Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing. It is a busy time of year and i have better things to do than faff around with Openrent admin.

Positive experience: I have been using OpenRent for over ten years, and the ability to book gas safety or EICR inspections has significantly simplified managing my properties. However, in recent years, I have observed that while suppliers promptly acknowledge job requests, they often do not follow through with arranging a date and time with tenants. This has resulted in me having to cancel and seek alternative suppliers. For example, this week, an electrician failed to arrive at the agreed time. He attempted to contact the tenant to complete the job earlier, but since the tenant was at work, he arrived ahead of schedule, took a photo of the front door, charged a call-out fee, and did not perform the job at the scheduled time. I have reported these issues to OpenRent multiple times, but there has been no resolution. This ongoing situation has caused significant delays in arranging inspections. A good platform to advertise your property but OpenRent customer service is failing this company’s reputation

I have used the management plus service also, where they have fixed emergencies with the boiler and a leak by reporting the issue to them. Negative experience: You can't trust any landlord or agent on this site, they have no loyalty at all. Unless you have a holding deposit your screwed. Money always comes first. If you agree a let that should be final not given to to multiple people and see who can race across London the quickest to sign the tenancy. Scummy people

Fantastic experience: I have recently used the services of OpenRent to find tenants. I am not a professional landlord with many properties but have an inherited house which I let out. Letting these days is a legal mine field but OpentRent helped me to steer through it. They are must cheaper than traditional agents and the beauty is that the landlord retains control. I had many enquiries and viewings and was able to meet with and select suitable tenants myself. The OpenRent website is excellent and the user dashboard has everything needed for the job. They have thought of absolutely everything. 10/10.

Negative experience: Does not checking if basic are present including mandatory items like Gas Safety Certification. It’s between tenant n landlord. Regular agents are much better as atleast you have an independent party to listen to your problem but here you are stuck. Not recommended.

Negative experience: Not as good as it used to be. In the chase for more and more profits both landlords and tenants are quite underhandedly given extra cost options such as Rent collection (ticked by default at £10 per month) Reposit (ticked by default and costing the tenant a weeks rent Attempts made to transfer tenants utilities to gain commissions from suppliers (remember there are always cheaper options if you do a full market comparison online) Rightmove advertising (was included) Its nowhere near as good as it used to be and I would suggest you look elsewhere if you are a landlord, we are. What was an almost totally perfect site for genuine landlords to interact with genuine tenants has become greedy for greater and greater profits. Thankfully there are now competitors who dont have this greed. This was my old review..... I have a portfolio of 50 and would use nothing else now. tenants get to see us, get to chat to us and we can offer a service an agent just stifles. perfect. thank you openerent. Sadly, I have changed my feelings on using openrent any longer now they have doubled their costs in the last 12 months. Now looking elsewhere.

Negative experience: Review of 33 Melrose Road, SW18 1LX — Landlady: Mrs. Rosa Canepa I am an independent PhD researcher, writer, and world traveller, and my tenancy at 33 Melrose Road, SW18 1LX was extremely distressing. The landlady withheld key information — including dogs living on the premises and an active camera doorbell used to monitor my movements. She charged £2,200 per month, insisted on cash payments, and refused to sign receipts until I wrote them out myself. Although rent was paid well in advance, she kept demanding more money every few days, forced her cleaning and ironing staff on me, and tried to sell personal items. She turned off hot water, floor heating, and the towel rail, creating deliberate tension, and forbade parcel deliveries to the address. The atmosphere was intrusive, controlling, and insecure, and I left after a month though I had planned to stay for two. When reported to OpenRent, they declined to act, showing no tenant protection or accountability. Attached are photos documenting her behaviour and the conditions I experienced. Future tenants should exercise extreme caution and insist on full transparency before renting this property.

Negative experience: It seems that the customer service doesn't exist here. Every time that I raise the same issue by email, as there is no other form of communication, they cc the supplier. The supplier is unresponsive so the issue cannot be resolved. You can't raise a complaint or find someone to speak on the phone.

Negative experience: The property at 11 Plawsworth Road, in Sacriston is available for rent through Open Rent. I don't believe they know about the issues we had when renting the house. The landlady ignored safety issues which were reported by contractors, such as the bathroom is at risk of falling through the utility ceiling. We can see from up to date photos that the repairs have not been carried out, but instead, she has covered the mould and holes with cladding in the utility. She was made aware that the electrics in the kitchen were unsafe due to a leak in the kitchen roof, which took months to repair. There was black.mould in the loft, due to.holes in the roof, which are still there, even after repairs have been carried out. Photos attached. Please be careful if you sign a tenancy for this property. There are holes in the external kitchen wall which we had mice entering the kitchen cupboards We did not rent this propery through open rent, but it is now advertised through them, and i cannot find a way of contacting them to let them know.

Fantastic experience: As a first time landlord, Openrent was incredibly easy to use from start to finish. I liked the transparent pricing and the option to control as much or as little as you wanted. They offer a template for the contract which you could personalise and there are useful advice pop ups along the way. I entrusted them with the advertising, referencing, deposit, electrical certificates and contract extensions - all of which went smoothly and were a fraction of a managing agent’s fees. Here is their email: Please note, the tenancy is a private agreement between you and your landlord and since OpenRent are not legally involved, we are unfortunately not able to intervene in the tenancy itself.

Negative experience: I’ve had a very disappointing experience with OpenRent. I attempted to list my property multiple times, but my account kept getting cancelled without any clear explanation. Each time, I was told to “contact support and wait one business day” — but no one ever responds. Unfortunately, the customer service is among the worst I’ve encountered. There is no meaningful support or resolution, just automated messages and dead ends. If you’re experiencing the same, be aware that you may not receive any proper assistance. It’s a shame, as the platform has potential, but the lack of reliable customer support makes it very difficult to recommend.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely God send for landlords looking to let their properties without paying for an agent. For a fee less than £100, you can advertise your property on all major platforms, they do the AST, they help you comply with all the legal requirements etc

Fantastic experience: Using Openrent is a lot better than letting agencies to get in touch with the landlord to find out which property is best suited to you for rental. I mean with the rise of rent prices, its worst to rent anywhere even if its at low prices because the cost adds up even higher with deposits, insurance policy costs and other costs but at least you get a chance to secure your chance of getting a place. If you went to letting agency, you would be stuck in an affordability war against everyone. I hate renting but that's just a personal opinion. I am thankful a service like Openrent exists, it's like tinder but for rental. LMAO GETTING MATCHED TO A LANDLORD. Heads up give it a shot.

Fantastic experience: We found Open Rent a very good site to deal with. Our property was well presented by them and they promptly informed us of any enquiries from prospective tenants. We liked their dashboard system which made it easy for us to keep up to date with the information about prospective tenants.

Fantastic experience: I've used OpenRent as a tenant for the first time, and I must say the whole process including previous property references and work income references, and signing tenancy agreement is very streamlined, quick, and efficient! Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Long term customer. I created an advert with specific images, floor plan, order and text. Advert went live on portals with half images missing and ai text. After 3 days and multiple emails, they have fixed my images but they will not fix the text. Their emails are just templates and they do not check the work nor specify the problem. Not impressed. It’s a premium property and the damage is done as people would have already viewed the listing in a sub par state.

Fantastic experience: If you're an experienced landlord and can create and manage a tenancy then Openrent is a great way to find tenants and save a small fortune in agent's fees. I like to vet potential tenants by meeting them in person and gauge if they are the right fit.

Negative experience: Company has some nice features that is easy to use until you use their Rent Now paid service. They collect deposit and first months Rent from the tenant. Under their terms and condition, they will transfer first month Rent to your nominated account after 10days after tenant have moved in to the property. That is fine on paper but reality is total different. On 10th day after tenants had moved in, we had to email to remind them we had not received Rent. They eventually sent an email stating Rent has been paid to our account but can take up to 3 days to receive. Can anyone explain in 2025 how can a bank transfer take 3 days??. This is totally unacceptable. disappointed.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgrace, OpenRent allowed a fake estate agent to market my property without my knowledge or consent. They supposed verify anyone using their platform. They promise to verify their tenants, they can spot a fake agent. Don't use them.

Fantastic experience: Very easy to use. Nice that I was able to speak with the owner of the property without any third party. OpenRent made it easy to rent. Created all the documents and guided through the process. I paid deposit and first month rent to the OpenRent. First month was transferred to the landlord after few days of us staying in the apartment to make sure everything is ok. Deposit was registered with deposit protection company. Landlord sent all the documents about the property (gas safety, electric safety, water safety) via OpenRent process. I hope the end of the rent will be the same easy as renting. I'm glad this cervice exist. Unresponsive agencies should be replaced with this website. Landlords and tenants will only benefit from it.

Fantastic experience: Open Rent have a number of facilities for both landlords and tenants, I'll not list them all, if you are either take a look. It's just cost me £49.00 to find a tenant, can you think of any high street estate agent that could do that.

Fantastic experience: OpenRent is so good, it makes you wonder how high street estate agents survive. The process from start to finish is smooth and professional. Lots of help and additional information and forms also if you need them. The pricing is extremely competitive and saves you a small fortune compared to what the average estate agent would charge you. I've been happily using them for several years and will continue to do so.

Negative experience: Think of creigslist but less sketchy. The middle man (open rent) does everything but it's up to the landlord/lady to actually be the one to go to if any problems. Some are good some are odd. It saves on estate agent fees. If your main job is looking after properties you own and your Tennants then perfect, if not and you work other jobs the tenants get restless and the living conditions worsen. Then that is the time to get a company to take over.
