Negative experience: AWFUL agency. They DO NOT leave you alone. They do not unsubscribe your details - they will email, call and text you forever and a day once you give them a contact. All they do is simply email/call you from one of their other agents. I have reported them to the ICO multiple times but nothing is done.

Fantastic experience: Angela is the safest pair of hands you could put your sale into. She’s professional, friendly, insightful and really knows her onions. We had to accelerate our sale as we found our onward purchase sooner than expected. Angel was nothing but supportive, and turned the most unremarkable viewing (on paper) into an asking price over. Challenges followed but she met each with dedication and determination. Her comms were flawless. Can’t recommend her enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: A lot of deliberation went into my good lady and I deciding that we would relocate. Last September I used the google lottery to find an estate agent, Angela was appointed to value our home, running late she messaged an apology, (for me that is never a good start), however, upon arriving, the professionalism was second to none. Angela valued our home and due to our own decision, we waited until we felt the time was right for us to take the plunge. In early March this year, I contacted Angela again to put our home on the market. The presentation was so good I thought about buying it myself, so good that 9 viewings in one day led us to a buyer. As I write this, I am 12 hours away from moving house and this whole process has been made so easy due to Angela and her work ethic. From calming talks to my good lady, to our conversations at varying points. Angela doesn’t sell anything, what she possesses is the ability to help you believe that you are doing the right thing. Rather than give an opinion on any part you may be concerned with, she listens to your reasoning and will simply ask why, or why not, then the professional skill honed by years of tradecraft reassures you. Estate agents are given a lot of bad press, but that doesn’t account for bad clients. If all estate agents had the same ethos as Angela there would never be anything negative to say. Fantastic experience: We dealt with Angela Williams at Preston Baker - it took nearly a year to sell our house, but that wasn’t due to the lack of energy and effort from Angela. She hosted numerous viewings and promoted our house relentlessly, answered a million questions from everyone, at all times of day and night. Despite some incompetent solicitors, and two sales falling through we finally got the house sold! Considering we paid up front to minimise costs, Angela did not put any less effort in. What would I have done differently? Probably chosen a solicitor that was local, and had great reviews. But that was about it.

Negative experience: Terrible experience - sent them all the info they asked for to get me an "in principle" mortgage decision and chased up several times - even raised a formal complaint - and was assured they were dealing with it. Not heard from them for 6 weeks or more now and it's not like they would have had a problem getting me a mortgage. I have since had 2 "in principle decisions" from other brokers, and am proceeding with Barclays - they approved it in 2 days! Would not recommend.

Negative experience: This is an accurate and honest review, I have all the information in emails and SMS so can back this up. 1. I placed an offer on a property which was accepted by the vendor. 2. I sent over all my ID details, proof of funds and solicitors details. 3. Preston Baker sent the Memorandom Of Sale to myself and my solicitors and the house was taken off the market and marked as Sold STC. 4. I submitted my mortgage application and instructed solicitors to proceed, paying the fees. 5. Preston Baker rang me to advise they have submitted another offer to the vendor and would I want to match it. I believe this is called 'gazumping', note this was after my offer was accepted and the house taken off the website etc. I tried to raise my offer and then received a further email asking for full and final offers. 6. My offer was presumably beaten as it was rejected by the vendor. I have now had to cancel my mortgage application (this may impact my credit score), cancel the solicitors (which I may not get a full refund for) and look for another house. I am sure the vendor is happy as they have a better offer but as far as a potential buyer I would be very wary using Preston Baker as you could agree a sale and then be gazumped later down the line leaving you out of pocket. As you can see from Preston Bakers reply, they will submit any offer during the process even if you have had an offer agreed and instructed solicitors, beware you will end up out of pocket like I have due to the gazumping practice.

Fantastic experience: Angela has been absolutely brilliant from start to finish! She has responded to all my queries within the day and the communication between Angela, the seller and ourselves has been excellent. I highly recommend Preston and Baker, and Angela especially, she really went the extra mile to help us as the buyers as well as the sellers.

Fantastic experience: Preston Baker were really proactive in trying to sell my flat and definitely went the extra mile; the online booking system for viewings is very efficient; and the professional photos and video looked gorgeous. Although their fees are higher, I think you get value for money in the effort they put into shifting properties, and would recommend them for anyone aiming for a quick sale.

Fantastic experience: There wasn't one house that I viewed with Preston Baker that wasn't beautiful, and the price was great and in accordance with the quality. Even though I did not end up renting with them, I highly recommend Preston Baker in York. In particular, Helen Jollands is a top professional and person that will really care for the potential tenant/buyer and their needs, and Holly Stonehouse is another example of an agent that provides top-class service. This agency's professionalism went as far as to providing me with advice, even when I managed to find a house and take it off the market through another agency; they knew that as a new professional, I had struggled a lot with house hunting, and they did not hesitate to help and answer my questions. For all the above, and taking into consideration my experience with other agencies in York, I highly recommend Preston Baker. Had my final viewing with PB been earlier in dates than the one of the house that I happened to take out of the market at that time, I would be renting with Preston Baker now. Worth 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Preston Baker were exceptionally good which justifies the relatively high commission costs. Angela was extremely helpful and organised the launch day very well, which resulted in a sale above the asking price within 3 days of the launch as they had predicted. The house though needing much renovation had great potential with original Art Deco features and in a brilliant location. Angela negotiated the sale for me and looked after the whole sale process extremely efficiently. She was very supportive and helped immensely at the end by involving the buyers, also extremely kind, in helping to clear and pack the contents of the house. Conveyance was through the recommended solicitors in Leeds, also very helpful but once again rather expensive with extra costs added from the initial quote. Overall extremely pleased with the help and support provided by Angela and Preston Baker.

Negative experience: I don’t know this company is professional or not , all I felt is arrogant. When I’ve tried to make an appointment for the viewing , from the staff who answered the phone for the appointment, who viewed the property with us , and who called me back after the viewing, they all had a arrogant attitude!what a team work !! For example, when the lady rang me back after viewed, she saids this on the phone :”hello, xxxx , how’s it going with the property?” When I said this probably is not for us . She replies two words :”how come “?. After my reply again, she saids:”ok “ then hand up . I can’t feel any politeness or welcomed for business from their attitude. This is the most arrogant state agent I’ve ever see!

It is a slick well-oiled machine, but the agents know their stuff, they really care and pull their finger out to a) get the best possible sale price and b) help make the next stage of the process through to completion as painless as possible. Well it works, we accepted our first offer which was £12k over our asking price - a month or so later the buyer pulled out which meant our in second launch we got a lower offer.
