Fantastic experience: The service I’m receiving from the team at Bridgfords York is outstanding and I couldn’t be happier. Positive experience: We moved to a flat in York from London without seeing it in person, and Mike from Bridgfords handled everything for us smoothly. Although there were a few minor issues after moving in that hadn’t been fixed beforehand, Mike was quick to respond and even arranged for someone to come out on a Saturday to sort things out. Overall, we’re happy with the service and really appreciated Mike’s helpful and proactive support.

Having rented several properties in York, and therefore had experiences with multiple agencies, Bridgfords has been the best by far. Negative experience: To the Bridgefords Team, In all honesty I have lost my patience with your team.Your team had been chasing us and been in constant contact upto the point of payment of the holding deposit and once it was done, your team went lax with respect to communication.Not only that, when i pointed out the mistake in the duration of the contract, you took over three days to fix it and did not send us the contract till the evening before the keys were to be handed over. I was sent the contract after i called up your agent and threatened to not sign the contract on the day if I didn't receive it immediately.Your agent Bethany, gave us wrong information regarding the council tax band of the house on multiple occasions. Unfortunately majority of our conversations with her were in person or over call and I regret not having a paper trail. I do not know if it was a mistake or not, but we went through an agency to avoid such issues and for that reason we did not bother cross-checking the information given to us. I walked into your office to have a word with your agent and found her to be on annual leave. I had a word with Alfie and was told that he will speak to his manager as well as Bethany and get back to me. It's been about three weeks since then and I haven't gotten a response yet.I have sent a followup email as well. I was informed that your agent couldn't do much, but the least one can do is update and respond to the email.Based on my experience with your team, the vibe that I get is that you do not care to communicate with your clients once you get what you want. I assumed the first few issues we had might have been due to internal miscommunication, but at this point I believe that this is just how your organization works.I do not expect much to come out of this, but I will make sure to inform the landlords about this as well as post a review to help anyone else in the future. I frankly do not have the time, nor patience to keep dropping by your office for you to not even try to sort the issue. I will avoid any and all dealings with bridgefords in the future.

This is the first time I have sold a house and also doing it on my own was extremely daunting but they have supported me every step of the way, answering every question I had and being very transparent about what to expect. Negative experience: not a single good experience with these guys, very pro landlord and unresponsive with repairs/emergency situations, toilet leaked once and took them a week to sort it out, deposits handled by a different company but horrible checkout experience and deductions for absolute weird reasons, landlord was awful, not responsive, it would have been common courtesy to discuss a potential end to the contract, landlord sent no fault eviction without any warning, yes it's not illegal but it's just poor practice, agreed to leave and then just wanted to speak to landlord to ask why they blocked my number, thank god the renters rights bill is being passed to stop these people from toying with lives, you'll never see any known contacts of mine coming here and certainly not myself,
Positive experience: Overall, I would recommend Mike Horton and his lettings team. They have a good insight into the local market and respond to queries promptly. Our property needed some renovation works and they put us in touch with good and reasonably priced contacts. Also kept us well advised on upcoming changes to the rental market. My main suggestion is that the accounts team could perhaps be more responsive.

Negative experience: Avoid - especially if the landlord is responsible for repairs etc, as the lettings agents will not act on behalf of landlord for repairs. Left with broken extremely noisey hot water tap leaking for 3 weeks while landlord was on holiday and told they could do nothing about it. This is an edit in reply to tell me to complain - I did complain, I sent video evidence of the leak for them to tell me ‘the landlord said it was never leaking’ and they didn’t receive my videos, a man I spoke to on the phone also heard the racket it was making down the phone, so how they can say there was never a problem is beyond me. I am now taking it further to the ombudsman and York council, I encourage anyone facing similar issues with this company to do the same - don’t let them get away with it! Oh and after 3 weeks of disturbed sleep, no answers, I became desperate and found the details of and contacted the landlords plumber directly myself, who had it fixed within 3 minutes. Absolutely outrageous!
Negative experience: If you want to save your nerves, NEVER RENT A PROPERTY FROM THIS AGENCY. After letting, you will deal with Countrywide (read reviews for this company). It is the most horrible agency in the world! You will wait for repairs for months. You will get a bad reference for your next reference check even you never missed payment! You won't get back about your deposit after leaving the property! You will need to raise a dispute with mydeposit or even go to a court! I rented from November 2022 to June 2025.
Fantastic experience: I recently rented a property through Bridgfords. Michael and Alfie were very pleasant and helpful. For referencing purposes Keysafe makes a fast, automated check. If you have recently started a new job or are in receipt of unearned income then referencing needs to be done manually, as was the case with us. I was a nervous wreck because I have not been through the rental process for 8 years and was concerned that we may lose the house. Michael and Alfie were very calm during this, pushed to get the references done and we still moved in on the date initially arranged. Our house was a lucky find, very reasonably priced, spacious, and we love it.
Fantastic experience: I have a couple of properties in York and have used a selection of letting agents. I have continued to use Bridgfords since I first engaged them a number of years ago - solely because they have performed head and shoulders above any previous agent I have used. They continue to give an excellent service and my most recent let was conducted by Alfie whose attention to detail and level of service was outstanding. I would have no hestitation in using them again or recommend them to others.

Negative experience: Absolutely dreadful communication, the sale took forever when it should have been the most straightforward sale ever. The staff just blamed everyone that they could, no one took responsibility for any delays. Up to you but I would never ever use Bridgfords in York again. They are involved with countrywide Lettings agents who are, in my experience, the most rude business I’ve ever dealt with. It’s not difficult to be polite, you’ll find you get repeat customers if you are, sadly you are the OPPOSITE of polite.
Fantastic experience: The colleagues at Bridgeford Letting Agent were extremely polite and efficient. They completed all our documentation and arranged the property inspection within a week. Whenever we called, they responded promptly and provided clear guidance, which was especially helpful as I am an international immigrant. Their team guided us thoroughly throughout the entire documentation process. After securing the property, we were pleasantly surprised during the key handover when Bridgeford gifted us a welcome pack with essential household items. This thoughtful gesture was unexpected and truly heartwarming, especially after having experience with many other letting agents. It left a lasting impression on us and made us feel genuinely welcomed into our new home. I highly recommend Bridgeford Letting Agent for anyone looking to rent a property. They are extremely helpful, and all their colleagues are kind, polite, and supportive.

Fantastic experience: I have recently rented my first flat and Bridgfords made the whole process outstanding from start to finish. A huge thanks to Libby for answering my endless amount of questions and making our move in so quick and hassle free, she was an absolute star! Would highly recommend bridgfords for rentals in York!
Negative experience: I am reviewing Bridgfords as a tenant (Sep. 2022 - May 2024), and so cannot comment on their ability to sell houses or how they treat landlords. What is there to say, though, really? This is another greedy, unprofessional lettings company where the avarice of local landlords trumps the welfare of struggling tenants. Every single time. My wife and I rented a crumbling house in Acomb at a fixed rate of £895p/m for two years, so that we could save to get on the property ladder. Towards the end of this contract, Bridgfords informed us that the landlord was upping the price to £1095p/m to 'match the market' (keep in mind, the 'market' is just whatever prices landlords say their houses are worth), despite the fact minimal work towards repairs or renovation had been done since we moved in. Anyway, long story short, when it came time to move my wife and I asked for our deposit back after cleaning the house to within an inch of its life (much cleaner than it had been when we moved in), and Bridgfords (acting through an 'unrelated' company called Blundells) demanded about £450 in deductions. Their reasonings were 'cleaning fees + carpet cleaning' with literally no explanation beyond this. They also tried to claim that there was a 'burn' mark on a carpet, and never showed any evidence for this. Most outrageous of all was that they blamed us for replacing the toilet seat and tried to ask for the original toilet seat back, despite the fact that it was Bridgfords who had organised this repair (demonstrating a severe lack of professionalism and communication in the workplace); they also said that because we left an egg-cup (an egg-cup!) in a kitchen cupboard that we had to come back to 'remove' it. It was an egg-cup weighing about 0.05 kg. In the months-long email dispute with Blundells they never once provided any evidence for their claims and simply demanded we provide evidence to dispute them. The burden of proof was on us, as tenants, to go against their lies. I even managed to ring up the company that they claimed had come in to do a service on the carpets and they confirmed that they hadn't even been to the property. Therefore, any 'receipt' showing their bill was a lie. And yet, and yet! Because landlords, letting agents, and these 'impartial' deposit checking companies are all presumably in cahoots with one another to drum up as much stolen wealth as possible, we still had to fork out a small sum upon leaving the property. Bridgfords, like Redmove (please check my other reviews), are thieves hiding as businesspeople. If you have to rent I recommend smaller companies like Whistles of York.
Negative experience: Whilst I was pleased that Bridgfords found a tenant, I have not been happy with the customer service. I was never advised when the inventory would take place so had to chase them for the information. This was then not completed on the date they told me it would be carried out and instead was done before we had the property cleaned resulting in an inaccurate inventory that is not fit for purpose. I have had no acceptance of their error or attempt to resolve it satisfactorily.
Fantastic experience: We have just signed a letting agreement with this agency and we’re over the moon with our new home! Libby has been absolutely brilliant and has really looked after us throughout the process. At our viewing she was friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable of the property. Fantastic experience: Bridgfords was really helpful when moving in and out of my flat, they responded quick to emails and problems during the tenancy, when things broke they would be fixed within a few days. Big shout out to Kate who recently gave me a lot of advice for renting my new flat but has also been really helpful and informative about people viewing my old flat, she has been fully flexible to work around my schedule and is very friendly too.

Fantastic experience: When we needed to find new tenants for our property in York we went back to Bridgfords because we'd always been very happy with the service that they had provided in the past. Our initial contact was with Pia, who gave us excellent information and advice on the whole process of reletting our property. Emily and Lauren then took over and were great. They provided a really professional service, always keeping us fully informed of progress and offering lots of really helpful advice.
