But the moment Samantha Penberthy came in from Naomi Ryan and began describing in granular detail the state of the housing market along the streets of our estate, we sensed a whole different level of experience and expertise. So we chose this locally-based company and have never regretted the decision. We could feel how much they operated as a team; it made no difference which member picked up the phone. Fantastic experience: Every part of our house move process has been handled brilliantly by the NaomiJRyan team. The initial stages were friendly, clear and efficient. We were well advised and given realistic expectations. The process was well explained and costs clearly stated. Everything we were promised was matched in practice through the whole process. We were particularly impressed that the whole team provided a seamless system of support (eg if one person was away our calls to them were handled by someone else who was equally well informed about our situation). However, we always felt we were given a strong personalised service - we never felt we were just contacting a faceless machine. Our move has not been easy as we were part of a rather clunky six link chain, but the NjR team was super-effective in working with that chain to move things forward as efficiently as possible. We are hugely grateful to them for this. Alongside all of this invaluable technical expertise, we found we were dealing with supportive, friendly team who understood how frustrating the process can be, and always dealt with us with good humour and sensitivity.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Rachel and Michael at Naomi J Ryan Exeter was brief but sweet - not something you can often say about dealings with estate agents! They marketed my property as part of a Easy mover scheme with a local new build developer. Although they didn't end up making the sale (it went to another estate agents who had it on the market for nearly 4 months) the quality of their work, their professionalism, and a feeling that they genuinely cared about my situation, means it has been a fabulous experience. Michael valued our home, and took the marketing photos and video, and was so polite and courteous at all times. He even gave me some sage, honest advice re the value of my home when I was in a predicament over whether or not to accept an offer. If I ever come to sell my property again, these people will be my first port of call. Very competitively priced too. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Not great if I'm being honest and Estate Agents wonder why no one trusts them. I arranged and went to view a property in Cranbrook on a shared ownership scheme. This was all fine and no issues however the viewing was conducted by someone who didn't really have any knowledge of the property as she wasn't someone who normally conducted viewings. After trying to make an offer and applying I was informed that someone else had made an offer and it was the policy to continue viewings until Livewest confirmed an application. At no point in the two/three weeks prior did Naiomi J Ryan see it appropriate to mention that someone had already made an offer on this house. Its the lack of transparency not the fact someone else had already made an offer. Michael did politely explain take the time to explain this however their colleague was less than forthcoming and clearly saw it as not their problem. Bearing in mind my parents are also in the market for a new house in the Exeter area (above £1M) and we have viewed other properties, this has made them reconsider any further properties marketed by this estate agent and I think you need to carefully consider the level of service and transparency they wish to provide.

Negative experience: BEWARE Offer accepted on house, vendor showed people around after our offer was accepted and accepted a new offer. Naomi has the nerve to tell me I dont understand what she telling me, that the vendor broke her legal contract. She then went on to tell me I need to understand her point of view and how difficult it is for her, not so difficult for her as she gets her commission anyway! Probably dodged and enormous bullet here if that how they do business.

No hard sell, no pushy recommendation on solicitors (anyway we still decided to hire the solicitor they recommended and the service is excellent too). I'd say the experience from house viewing, making an offer, to entering the paper work, and completion, staff from NJR contributed a lot to ensure a smooth process. Very grateful for it. Our purchase completed in 2 months. HURRAY!!!!
