Negative experience: These guys were our estate agents for student rent from 2021-23. They are unbelievably useless, when we moved in the place had not be cleaned and the kitchen was unusable. Rotting food in the fridges and freezers, old used oil in containers on the counters, rusted out microwave that could not be used. Problems were never addressed, we had to sort it out ourselves. Not only this but when we moved in, having already paid 2 months of rent, they did not have the keys ready for us. Their communication and general management of the property is lazy.

Fantastic experience: I recently let a property through Connells with my partner. Taya was great - she was friendly, kept us consistently updated, responded promptly to emails, and made the entire process a smooth and hassle-free experience!

Fantastic experience: A couple of weeks ago we contacted the letting department of Connells in Exeter to help us find a tenant and manage our property.Liz was very helpful explaining how they could make the whole process easy and convenient ,we agreed on her rent valuation and put our property in their capable hands. Tatum contacted us the next day and agreed to take care of all the safety checks,which she did promptly.and efficiently. By the end of the week she had found 5 prospective tenants ,we chose whom we thought the most suitable. When we met to sign the agreement we were very impressed by her lovely personality and her professionalism, nothing was too much bother for her and we are very grateful for all the assistance she gave us.The tenant moved in last Thursday, what we.thought would take a month or 2 was done in a couple of weeks with no effort on our part,it was our first time letting and we were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency, the speed and the ease of our experience.

Negative experience: For a certain kind of mindset, I'm sure Connells are very good. It seems that they have a very rapid staff turnover, so at any one time a large proportion of their staff are quite new and inexperienced, and I suspect the hiring process is designed to look for salespeople in the Wolf of Wall Street kind of vein rather than people who want to provide a personal service. Again, nothing wrong with that if that's what you're looking for, but I found their agents to lack warmth and knowledge when viewing properties they were selling. I also found that they were quite, let's call it proactive on the telesales front, both trying to get me to buy and to sell, and one of their staff members in particular was quite rude to me when I said I would prefer that he stop taking the hard sales approach with me. So if you're looking for an agent who will pound the phones in search of leads and go for quantity over quality, they may well be for you, but if it were up to me I would always choose a smaller agent with a more personal service.

Fantastic experience: Feedback for Tom (Thomas Coombe) and Charlie Davies Tom has been amazing from the very beginning. As first time buyers in our mid 20s who had just moved to the UK, we were really nervous and unsure about how to navigate the whole house buying process. But Tom made us feel welcome and at ease right away. He took the time to explain everything clearly and walked us through each step, which made a huge difference. Fantastic experience: Once again Connells has exceeded my expectations as a mortgage brokers S. Woodgate was amazing all the way through. Very quick with numbers and no question phased her - very knowledgeable and was able to explain everything in simple down to earth language. Highly recommended. I used other broker who was slow and barley could explain what he was asked. When I needed him to move quick he was slow and very inefficient. We felt that she went above and beyond to ensure we had a quick move in, and proved to be a great negotiator when it came to changing a few things on the tenancy agreement for us. Fantastic experience: The manager Jenny and her team were great, nothing was too much trouble. I was selling my late mum’s bungalow and they suggested I auction the property through iamsold which I did. With their good marketing there were 18 viewings so very pleased. I would definitely recommend this agent.

Fantastic experience: Though I moved to UK recently and was not used to English or common rules in rent, they quickly and kindly supported my lease. I am satisfied their service very much.

Negative experience: Connells were marketing a property via "modern method of auction" that my daughter was keen to buy. The property end date wasn't advertised on their post on rightmove and despite asking several times and being told someone would let my daughter know the end date know, no one did. They did however, call her MANY times, prior to even viewing the property to try to sell her a mortgage (she was already sorted out with one) to the point they reduced her to tears. She couldn't get an appointment to view for over a week, then the date was changed at short notice to the following day. This meant that unbeknown to us, we viewed a day before the end date of the auction, which we were unaware of and not told, despite asking. When we met the agent at the property he didn't know when it ended and promised to let us know and never did. We asked for guidance on how to proceed as neither of us have used the modern method and weren't told anything. We were called the following day by "i am sold" to say the auction was ending in three hours. not long enough to read the pack (which Connells had told us we couldn't see) and ask questions. There seemed to be a lack of information which would have allowed my daughter to bid and lots of obstacles. The property in ide sold for far less than my daughter would have bid, meaning she missed out and the seller sold for a long way under what they could have made. When i asked the Exeter manager about it i was told that "they only market it" and "i am sold sell it" Surely in that case Connells should be aware of an end date and time and be able to provide information about how to proceed, with advice regarding I am sold. She couldn't have cared less, very disappointing and unprofessional. When I contacted i am sold they were also upset about the lack of communication with Connells Exeter and said they would have expected much more assistance and information to have been given by them. My daughter lost the house she wanted and the sellers lost a fully proceedable buyer who had a lot more to bid than the closing bid over very, very poor communication. Completely unimpressed.

Negative experience: This is probably the worst agency in Exeter. Working hours mean nothing to them. Catching someone from the rental department there is a real challenge. They NEVER call back, often don’t even know what they’re letting out. They are slow, dishonest, and speak disrespectfully. They hide important information. I DO NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone.

Negative experience: I had been trying to view a property that Connells had for let. I made my first enquiry 6 weeks ago and have since called them 4 times to find out when I could view it. Each time I rang I was told that someone would call me back and nobody ever did. Very unprofessional and extremely poor service! Would not recommend them to anyone. I have since rented a property through another local estate agent whose service was fantastic. I’m sure the landlord of the property would be over the moon at this service for perspective tenants!

Fantastic experience: Connells Exeter’s letting team were helpful, friendly and very professional in letting two of our properties in the last month. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. They tried to force us into using their in house broker (which of course they get extra commission for) and they fabricated a cash buyer. Their exact words were “there is a cash buyer but if you use our broker we will go sale agreed with you today”. We now know there was never any cash buyer. It’s actually illegal for agents to insist that you use their in-house broker and Connells have been reported for this before. Funnily enough the call was made from a work mobile so there is no recording. Awful, pushy, lying agents.

Negative experience: They are a nightmare to get hold of via phone, and with this offer, a lack of information and reliability, which was a great shame!, I've gone elsewhere to another company and received an excellent quality experience with no fuss or hassle, and the communication is very good, so connells missed out on good business due to their unprofessional inadequate offerings! . you're better off going somewhere professional!!

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I made the alert through another website that I was looking to sell my house and buy a new one. After that, Connells called me daily for two weeks, even after I told them I already found an agency to sell my house, pushing me to go with them too. Now, after 5 months, they keep calling me every few weeks, even if I asked them to removed my contact details from their archives.

Fantastic experience: I should clarify that my feedback is as a buyer, not a seller. Connells Exeter has a great team in place. I have visited many properties with Billy, and I would like to highlight how professional and well informed he is. I really appreciate his good manner (and patience!). The team back at the office are great as well. I have communicated with Caleb, Charly and Sam, and they are always very helpful and come back to me very quickly with answers to the questions I might have. I highly recommend this office. Negative experience: Horrible people. Unprofessional bullies. They will force your rent up in the minimum time window required by law. They ignore all requests for paper copies of their intentions to increase rent. They withhold information required to adaquately contest rental price increase. They are essentially crooks. If you allow these criminals to manage your property as a landlord, expect to incur large court costs. If you have to deal with these bullies as a tenant, expect to have any requests you make for essential repairs to be either botched or ignored. It is hard to articulate just how dishonest and outright horrible these people are. They will force a rent increase while your living space is in a complete state of disrepair, then threaten you with legal recourse when you request your living space at least be made habitable before increasing your rent more than 20% in a single month. Avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Jenny and the team at Connells have supported me over the last few months with the sale of my house and purchase of another (both with Connells). From start to finish, they have been nothing but calm, kind and professional. Jenny has always responded quickly to anything I have asked of her, and she has made me feel as if nothing is too much trouble, going above and beyond to make the process as smooth as possible. Jenny has been an immense help at times when I have been stressed out with the lack of response from solicitors, and when I have felt as if nothing is happening; she has contacted so many people on my behalf, in order to keep things moving. Negative experience: Possible the worst experience and service I have received from a company thus far in my life. From the very start of our tenancy it was evident that connells Exeter have the organisational skills and follow-through of that of a todler. It took chains and chains of emails to sort the most simplistic problems which could have been sorted almost instantaneously had someone taken some semblance of responsibility. The house was not cleaned when we moved in and false promises were made the whole way throughout our tenancy many of which were never resolved. Up to this point… where we have moved out and are still receiving threatening emails about arrears that we do not owe for the month after we have moved out and furthermore not a whiff of a word regarding deposits owed to us. Fantastic experience: A massive thank you to Shane Reavey from Connells who helped me and my partner from the beginning going over and beyond to ensure we found the perfect home and secured it too. As a first time buyer and not knowing the process well, Shane was very understanding and incredibly patient with us while guiding us through the steps and always being available to contact if we had any queries. The experience we have had for a first time buyer has been less stressful thanks to Shane helping us at every step. I cannot stress enough how much this member of staff went over and beyond for his clients and we are forever grateful to him and can confirm we will be using Connells again.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited connells to see about remortgaging. I had an appointment with Shane the mortgage manager and he was brilliant. Negative experience: Stay clear from Connells, all they’re interested in is taking money off you and pressuring you into using their services to better your chances of getting an offer accepted on a property. No help whatsoever when the sellers pull out for no reason and leaving us £700 out of pocket.
