Negative experience: I have rented through Winkworth Exeter for the past 4 years. The Positives - Boiler and washing machine were replaced within a reasonable timeframe when they broke The Negatives - When we announced that we were buying a house they booked a number long overdue maintenance tasks that had been delayed for years. During the final month of our tenancy when they sought to do viewings for new prospective tenants I made it explicitly clear that i needed 24 hours notice as I work from home as psychotherapist (privacy and confidentiality being paramount), they agreed. On two occasions they rocked up unannounced (the first time letting themselves in with their keys at 9:30am while my wife was downstairs in her dressing gown, we turned them away and explained the need for notice). They turned up unannounced again the following weekend for a series of four viewings, we initially turned them away. The estate agent came back five minutes later to pressure us into allowing them to view, stating it was the same couple that had been turned away at the previous viewing. We allowed them to view the property and went out for lunch.... We returned to the house to find out we had been locked out by the estate agent, who we could then not get hold of as the office closes at lunch time on Saturday. We called the out of hours locksmith who came and got us into the property.... receiving an invoice for their visit the following week, which we contested. Currently awaiting the outcome of a dispute over the return of our deposit, despite spending a huge amount of time ensuring we left the property in much butter order than the sorry state we received it in. Do your research before using these guys

Negative experience: My experience with Winkworth has been extremely disappointing. I felt that the way they handled our money was completely unacceptable, and their lack of professionalism was obvious throughout the process. We were not able to attend the check-out inspection, and I strongly feel that they took advantage of this situation. Several of the issues they reported were exaggerated or simply did not match the condition of the flat when we moved in. In fact, the apartment was already very dirty when we first received the keys, yet they still charged us for cleaning at the end which feels completely unfair. Overall, the whole experience was frustrating, stressful, and far below what anyone should expect from a real estate agency. I would advise others to be extremely cautious when dealing with them.

Fantastic experience: Jasmine in Lettings is very proactive. Within 24 hours of me calling her she had my property advertised on Rightmove. Her communication is good, always giving me timely updates and responding to my emails promptly. Negative experience: Appointment was cancelled because agent had already taken a deposit for the flat. Not even one chance to view the flat. If I had been told that the flat is first come first served and all applications are viewed on a rolling basis then I should have been advised to book an earlier viewing slot. This is really unfair and I have not come across other agencies that do this. Disgusting.
