She was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, always friendly, approachable, incredibly helpful and quick to respond whenever we had a question or needed an update. Fantastic experience: I have recently bought my first home through Connells, and the sales team have been fantastic. My experience was mostly with a really nice guy, Jamie, who showed me around a couple of locations, which led me to find the one I now have the keys for. He was in a similar situation to myself at the beginning, and took away some of the stress I had too. He was always available for support, and kept me updated on the process too. Making offers was made really easy by Paul, who seamlessly connected me to the seller, and organised the majority of the viewings after the offer was accepted. I can’t thank the team enough for the work and support I received. My only slight disappointment was on the mortgage side of Connells, whom I didn’t use in the end. As a first time buyer, I felt almost pushed into using their services, which seem to be glorified to me, and came at a fairly steep cost. The advisor was very nice, very helpful, and (like the sales team) was willing to go out of their way to help. If you’re somebody who wants someone else to do the shopping around for you, this service would be for you. So, based on my experience, I would certainly use them again. Thank you!

Positive experience: They done really well especially sorting out a new final buyer for £2k more after two suspect sales fell through only down side was we agree an all inclusive price with the sales lady, but she failed to mention the that the money laundering fee would be extra is was in the small print but so were it other fees that were not charged. therefore if you agree an all inclusive deal which was a good ask for assurance if there are any other costs in the small print that may be added.

Fantastic experience: Rosie was amazing throughout the whole process; from valuation to getting buyers in to view my property to getting me the sale price I was expecting. She also was super helpful while the whole chain progressed and was always easy to reach and responsive. I would not hesitate to reach out to her again if I ever decide to move, and probably wouldn’t mind what agency she’s working for - I would prefer Rosie above any one estate agency.

Negative experience: Simply dreadful. 8 months of ‘buying a flat’ wasted with this unprofessional, arrogant sales team led by their truly awful sales manager Paul. Good luck if you are buying from these clowns - lack of communication, lies, woeful incompetence. And then they will stand back and say ‘we are just the middleman’ Terrible. And don’t bother emailing their complaints people either - they just refer you back to the branch. Appalling.

Fantastic experience: I recently used Connells in Hitchin to let out my refurbished 3 bedroom 2 bathroom terraced house in Trevor Rd, Hitchin. The Lettings Manager, Douglas Moore helped me from beginning to end, he was excellent and is very professional too. Although the house was originally advertised at £1700 per month, within days we had good quality tenants competing with each other for the house, which eventually went for £1900 per month and the rent is paid 12 months in advance! I cannot thank Douglas and his team for the brilliant all round job they have done for me. Okkes Ulgur

Fantastic experience: Rosie was fantastic from the start! Knowledgeable about the property being viewed, answered all the questions I had, was super responsive, and kept up her high-energy throughout. Great experience from start to finish and would not hesitate using Connells in the future.

Negative experience: Three encounters: First one with the mortgage adviser, where was offered unbelievably unreal low rates for B2L, and ended up with mistakes as offers were for residential. The second. I have given an offer, none got back to me with a refusal via email. They just gave us a call and said - vendor not interested. I have given another offer of 7500 up, no reply/no emails/nothing. Only got an email offering services from their mortgage advisor and call saying that the offer should be in the range I have given. Disappointed. The appointment was one week after the request, another 7 days gone nowhere. I started to look for another property. Third issue: the description of the property is not the same to what the property actually was: Check for the actual SQM, compared to EPC, allocated parking space and other things that were in description disappearing or something new is added. On request - no reply. In general, it is a very unprofessional approach...the worst experience in connection to buying properties I actually had... Now, when I see good apartments and they offer them, I just hide it on a web, as it is more like time wasting then moving anywhere...

Fantastic experience: Paul came round to value my property and was very friendly and efficient, he gave me a fair and achievable guide price. He went through the whole process and advised that Connells would deal with everything I needed going forward. Any viewings were confirmed via email and text and I had access to Connels online portal. I was away from my property during the sale period for a fair part and it was great having Connells escort potential buyers and anyone else that needed access to my property. I had seriously considered a do it yourself online estate agent, but so pleased I went with Connells, as would not have been able to have progressed my sale without Connells help. Thanks

Fantastic experience: I was apprehensive regarding the stages involved in putting my old cottage up for sale. I received a warm welcome from the staff in Connell's branch in Hitchin. The viewing arrangements were sensitively handled and I always had generous notice time before arrivals. Paul had matched my practical limitations and found a buyer who could allow the time for my transactions to be spaced out. My hunt started for a home easier to clean and move about in. I had some severe disappointments after finding a suitable place only to have the selling agent not answering their phone or the website freezing at a critical stage. I sensed my bids would have received a better reception if I had been an investment buyer needing a mortgage. Jonathan helped me to interpret the responses I encountered and relate them to broader market conditions. I could not have overcome the setbacks without this sort of support. It was not matched by the lawyer I had engaged whose plodding inflexibility, grudging explanations and ill-conceived order of priorities dismantled the efforts of everyone to achieve a successful conclusion. Emily on the sales staff always evinced enthusiasm for her role and displayed skill and initiative in revising terms to meet changed conditions as buyers reacted to higher interest rates. My sale did not survive the tighter market but I shall not hesitate to place my house in the hands of Connells of Hitchin when conditions are brighter.

Negative experience: Connells are without a doubt the worst estate agent I've ever used. The only reason I've given them two stars and not one is that some of the staff were helpful for the period of time they were there but over the years I used them to let out my property, the staff changed constantly and when you are in the middle of dealing with a complaint its extremely frustrating to have to start again every five minutes. I had two sets of considerable compensation given to me for huge screw ups that cost me time and money but even the complaint process with head office was a nightmare as they were denying constantly that they were to blame, luckily I had all the emails and evidence to prove it. The way they handled the covid pandemic was also chaotic and caused further problems that I had to be compensated for. All in all I couldn't honestly recommend them to anyone as I had nothing but headache from them. Like I said you may get lucky and get a nice member of staff but I'm guessing as they're a huge chain there's a lot of movement with staff coming and going as the staff was so inconsistent

Positive experience: To date the service I have received has been very good. Paul, the agent I have been dealing with, has been honest, open and straight forward with me, I could wish for no more. Paul has just phoned me to inform me that he has already got someone wishing to view my property, only a couple of hours after it went on the market.

Negative experience: I had called requesting information regarding a property. A total of 3 call were made by myself chasing for information with not one call returned. I would bear that in mind if I was a seller and we’re thinking of using this branch.

Fantastic experience: Great, Responsive and Helpful service. Our washing machine was broken on the Tuesday. After making contact with Connells, they got in contact with the Landlord and arranged a replacement to be sent out and organised a tradesman to install the washing machine within 1 day! After 2 days, the washing machine has been installed, that is what I call fantastic service!!

They then got them moved into the property exactly when requested. An outstanding service and I thoroughly recommend them.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I am not able to give zero stars against this company. They are a bunch of absolute liars and only think about lining their pockets. Winter without heating, weeks not able to use a bathroom, (this was AFTER the landlady gave the go ahead) consistently rude and contradict themselves at every turn. They always look to pass blame to anyone but themselves. I would be highly surprised if the Landlady hasn't been completely shafted too. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Fantastic experience: I recently sold my house through Connells. Paul Bonney and his staff were all excellent from start to finish and extremely professional throughout the sale. Paul visited initially and explained the process in a straightforward manner which was very helpful and easy to understand. Whilst the process was ongoing Paul was in regular contact and helped with any issues that arose through solicitors. The house went up for sale in mid August and we completed at the start of December, which I felt was more than reasonable. Thanks to Paul and the team the sale was made a lot easier and all went smoothly.

Negative experience: I instructed the to market my property for sale, when I had a tennant in place I advised them that viewings would need to be through the tennant in future. I was NOT epecting them to knock on the door see the property was occupied but nobody home and PROGRESS with a viewing. This they DENIED .The potential purchaser informed me when she viewed through a different agency this had taken place. I requested my keys be returned, this never happened, I spoke with Head Office and again 5 days later STILL no keys. I then called Head Office again. Happy to provide my contact info.
