Negative experience: We were tenants at 55 Bygrave Road, Baldock for over 5 years, always paying rent on time and taking care of the property as our family home. We were served a Section 21 notice and repeatedly told by the letting agent that the landlord was selling and that the property could not be re-let for a period of time. On that basis, we were effectively pressured into leaving under very short timescales, causing significant financial, emotional, and practical disruption to our family, including upheaval for our young child and his schooling. Despite this, the property has since been re-let shortly after we vacated, at a higher rent. Throughout the process, we experienced a lack of clarity, consistency, and empathy from the letting agent, and felt misled regarding the landlord’s intentions and what would happen after we left. Advice given to us about our housing options and ability to move locally was also dismissive and unhelpful. After a 5-year tenancy, we expected a far fairer and more transparent process at the end. Instead, we were left feeling undervalued and badly treated. We would not use this letting agent again.

In Oct 2024 we were about to raise a white flag to find a property to letting in Herts but commuting to Cambridge, and the team managed to rent a good property to us within a great timeframe (considering it was a relocation due to a new workplace). Negative experience: To potential tenants, AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! - one star to much Rented with this group an apartment for a year and they are cunning and deceiving. Won't go into the whole experience here. We spent 8 months into lockdown and left the place in immaculate condition yet they are still trying to squeeze money out of us. They will invent stuff, it's actually hilarious the extent that they will go to in order to try get money off you. My advice is! if you ever rent with anybody not just '' 'these', make sure you check the place at check in and take pictures of everything even a hair on the floor. At check out use their check in pictures and leave the place they way they had it in the pictures. Do not be afraid to dispute, if you have all the evidence ie pictures videos, you will succeed. Know your rights as a tenant. I mean it speaks volumes about who they are. Look at their reply, threatening legal action over my review. I wish them good luck. Avoid hunters

The service was continually outstanding throughout; so much so I cannot think of any organisation I’ve ever dealt with privately, or in business, as good - and I’m 61 years old. They always found tenants who were reliable. When a tenant gave notice a new one was set up within a matter of a few days every time. There was never even a single day’s break in income stream. When tenants needed something, I was always informed immediately and any maintenance issues were actioned quickly, cheaply and without fuss. I came to trust this organisation completely. Claire’s staff are friendly, intelligent and super-efficient. Their six monthly viewing reports were extensive, exceedingly professional and easy to access; completely waffle-free. If you are considering letting in the area DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT going elsewhere. I can not recommend Hunters in Baldock highly enough. I only have one buy to let property. I’m a retired teacher who was a filthy capitalist in a previous life. After 9 years of first becoming a Landlord, I sold my flat in Baldock in order to upscale to a rental in Blackpool. My tenant in Baldock moved out on February 8; I then spent 3 weeks refurbishing and Claire found me a buyer and arranged a viewing the FIRST day the flat was on the market. I sold it for the full asking price that day - for considerably more than I was expecting in these Brexit-times of decreasing house prices and a stagnant market. Claire found me a buyer purely out of good service. She is a letting agent NOT a sales real-estate firm. That’s how much she values customers. Putting forward a buyer was not something a letting agency would normally do and what she did is entirely commensurate with her attitude to customer service and quality assurance. The service she has provided to myself and our tenant has been excellent. I am kept informed of any maintenance issues which are always resolved quickly and at a very reasonable cost. In addition I am often informed of any relevant change in legislation which may effect me, often with a suggested route to comply with these changes. I have dealt with other agents in the past and they have never met the service that Hunters of Baldock have provided.

Negative experience: Rented a property through Hunters for just over a year. High tenancy fees and poor customer service, wouldn’t recommend renting through them. Often felt like we weren’t welcome in our own home towards the end of the tenancy. They sided with the landlord and seemed to forget that we were their customers. They tried to charge us for silly things at the end of our tenancy (and quite rightly didn’t succeed)
