Positive experience: Courtney in the St Albans branch was amazing, dealt with my queries quickly and efficiently. My rating is not due to Courtney - I have been left somewhat disappointed with the service from the central team, for example I have found that despite having the full management service, I am often chasing for updates, and I identified discrepancies between the check out and check in reports despite the reports being completed by the same company (a company instructed by William H Brown) a few days apart making me question what I am paying for.

Fantastic experience: I can not thank William H Brown enough for going above and beyond to look after me recently. I viewed a property with Finley who was very polite and nice and met with John their mortgage adviser, who was very knowledgeable, personable and really helped me out advising me on what I could afford and preparing a mortgage in principle for me. In fact the whole team were welcoming and helpful, even David the manager followed up with a query in John's absence. I felt very supported with my questions being replied to incredibly quickly. A 5 star team, thank you so much, if I need a mortgage in the future I will definitely be contacting John Greene at the St Albans branch.

Negative experience: I've asked politely please not hassle me to switch agents. I've blocked their number and then they start phoning on a different line. I've 'unsubscribed' to their emails and directly emailed the branch (email acknowledged) to remove my details from their database in accordance with GDPR regulations and yet they still phone. Questionable techniques as today's voicemail message says they have a buyer for our house, and we're not even listed with them! The ICO will receive my breach of GDPR complaint.

Negative experience: Courtney repeatedly requests to book my property on Airbnb as a way of reaching out to ask if I want to rent it out on a long term basis. Its really annoying as hosts have to respond and it stops genuine guests booking.

As frustrating as the selling process was at times, Jake would always be on hand and although he was spinning so many plates at once to keep the branch going he would always get back to me as soon as he could. The 5 stars are for Jake and I hope WHB have managed to solve some of their staffing issues to provide a service without it all falling to Jake.

Fantastic experience: After a sale that fell through Jake gave fantastic advice on the re-marketing, secured multiple viewings on day one of being back on the market and 4 offers on the viewing day. He advised best and final offers and secured a good deal. He was proactive and responsive throughout the process. This was particularly appreciated and important as we don't live near St Albans. Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. We rented through them and they're incompetent. The branch philosophy is "get the AST signed, and then knob them off to complaints." As a result, prior to signing our tenancy we were given a number of promises and assurances that were never carried out (getting carpets cleaned, getting ovens cleaned, minor repairs - basic stuff) We moved in and a number of things weren't legally compliant - THATS RIGHT LANDLORDS, YOU WOULD BE ON THE HOOK FOR FINES THROUGH THEIR INCOMPETENCE! As a tenant we rented through them for 6 months, rolling maintenance issues that were never addresses (leaking roof!) broken promises, high turn over of staff so no accountability. We had to get the council and MP involved it got so bad. In the end we moved. 6 months in to a 12 month AST was enough. Tenants, AVOID, rent through someone else. Landlords AVOID, they let properties out that aren't necessarily "legally compliant" and it's you that will be on the hook for the fines. Zero stars, do not recommend @ Lucy at Customer Relations - Lucy, I have no intention wasting my time with you. If you wanted to resolve this you could have progressed the countless emails we sent to your branch, your maintenance department, or that the council sent, or that our MP sent. You had 6 months to fix this. The facts are we moved in to a property without working smoke alarms (documented on the inventory, and I believe a legal requirement PRE tenancy - that's the bit landlords can be fined for!) we were without a working oven for months with the branch and maintenance batting it off as the others responsibility. The bedroom roof started leaking 6 days after we moved in and you did nothing. We had damp and mould issues constantly. Your company would respond to our emails telling us one thing, and respond to the council/MP telling them something else (Frustrating certainty, dishonest, maybe.) Your response here is nothing more than virtue signalling and an attempt to salvage some semblance of professionalism. I maintain Zero stars. Do not bother me again.

Having passed through two different agents who had failed to sell (even when several buyers were close to the point of exchange, only for key information that wasn't shared by these agents from the outset putting said buyers off), by mid-2022 we were in a quandry as a family so decided to give William H Brown a try. Negative experience: I asked to view a property and informed them that we would like to see it today/ASAP as we have we planned to place a offer of 5% over asking price. We was told there was no viewings today and they would contact us soon with a date. We then received a call letting us know all viewings are today and close at 3pm, with 90 minutes to drive 2 hours and view the house. We missed out on viewing a house because or poor organisation and communication, therefore we did no place an offer on the house we hoped to buy. Disappointed is an understatement

Negative experience: Very disappointed. After going above and beyond for making our rented flat super clean for viewers and making ourselves available for William H Brown to set up viewings, they treated us very badly in return. After returning the keys, we have chased them for three weeks to get our deposit back and still no sign of it. The landlord said they confirmed to WHB as soon as we returned the keys, that the deposit can be returned to us in full. The issue is clearly with WHB themselves. Will not consider them for any future renting of my home or selling of home. Avoid at all costs. Use Frosts instead!

Fantastic experience: Jack from Mortgage Service the Best Broker Ever! We are first time buyers so we had no clue what is what, he explained everything in details. Great communication either on the phone or mails. I will also add that before we chose to work with him we spoke with few other brokers but he was just the person we wanted to work with ! Fantastic experience: Hello, I was recently looking for a professional rental and was having a hard time finding a beautiful and luxurious place to live. I saw one of their rooms offered in an HMO home share and decided to contact them about it. They were really quick to answer to any of my questions. I immediately chose to go with the room when they guy Charlotte scheduled a viewing. They were eager to assist me with anything I requested. I had a fantastic time renting a house from them. The procedure was quick and painless, and the room was occupied within a week.

Fantastic experience: I cannot put into words how impressed i am by my mortgage advisor, Jack Cutmore. He went above and beyond to ensure I was happy and well informed. If I ever had uncertainties he was the first person I would call. Even if it was not his department he would find a way to get the answers I needed. If it was not for Jack I do not know what I would have done. Our sale had some difficulties and delays and he stood by me and took a lot of responsibilities into his hands even when he didn’t need to and it was not his job. Fantastic experience: I have just let my family home out with William H Brown, I was nervous with the whole idea of it, but my mind was quickly put at ease with the help I received from Emily & Chloe. They found me tenants very quickly and managed to get over the asking price too, I would not hesitate to recommend these girls to any first time landlords. Seamless service from beginning to end. Negative experience: This is a review for both William H Brown and their tenancy management arm Sequence. We rented a property through them, and experienced several issues throughout. Below is not the complete catalogue of the issues that occurred, merely the most memorable. They often took several months to respond to queries and requests for repairs, assured us there was resident parking available with the property, which turned out to be false (so we had to find private parking at significant cost), and on at least one occasion threatened legal action and pursued us for outstanding rent which we had already paid - before mysteriously letting the matter drop without even an apology. The issues didn't even end when we moved out. When it came to getting our deposit back, they withheld it for at least 4 months whilst "waiting for a repair operative to come and quote for some damage within the flat" (which ended up being a truly miniscule sum). Yes you read it correctly, 4 months to wait for a quote. They didn't seem to be very fussed in chasing the quote, and wouldn't allow us to arrange for another quote or in any way make an effort to try and speed up the process. Seemingly pointless complaints to higher management within Sequence and William H Brown resulted in us basically coming to the conclusion that they don't really care about the plight of tenants.

Fantastic experience: As a first time buyer I had exceptional help from Brian in getting the best mortgage offer tailored to me in rapid time. He was always available to ask questions to and handled the process very competently. A pleasure to work with, I would highly recommend him as a mortgage broker.

Fantastic experience: If you're looking to buy a house, speak to Brian, their mortgage broker, as your very first step. I instructed Brian to work as my mortgage broker and what a stroke of luck that was. As a first time buyer, I can say without exaggerating that Brian paid for his fee two or three times over, and I would not be looking at a successful completion without his patient advice and guidance. He's the sole person in this entire process that seems to know what's going on and actually care. I only wish I'd been introduced to him earlier in the process!
