Negative experience: I would not recommend this agency based on my experience. At the start of the tenancy, they tried to push me to buy contents insurance, strongly implying it was required, even though their own screenshot clearly showed it was only advisory. After several emails, they dropped it when I refused. When I moved out, they did not proactively check with the landlord about returning my deposit. After waiting over two weeks, I contacted my landlord myself and he confirmed he was more than happy for them to return the full amount. When I asked the agency about it, their response was unprofessional (Have we had confirmation from your landlord to refund?). It is like have you? Maybe check? and they even asked me to prove it. I sent a screenshot with the chat with the landlord. Btw anyone could make up s prove for this if wanted so again very vague and unprofessional. Returning a deposit should be handled automatically and professionally, not left to the tenant to chase. I wonder how many deposits they keep waiting for the tenant to dismiss.

Fantastic experience: The staff at WHBrown, Lincoln, were all extremely helpful. Lillie was very welcoming when she showed me around the rental, Ruby was both patient and efficient in helping us through all the admin and answering our questions, and Eloise made sure we gained access as early as possible on the day. Finding somewhere to rent can be (and has been!) a torturous experience, but this team made it all seem straightforward! Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: This is a preliminary review based on a viewing experience, with hopes to expand and provide further experiences down the line, assuming I am successful in my property application. I have just returned home from viewing a property with Lillie Sharpe and overall have had an immaculate experience with this young agent. She was extremely professional throughout the entire process, yet also maintained a sense of casual friendliness that allows you to open up to her easily. From the get-go she was very aware of the landlord's wishes with visitors to the property and ran me through 2 options for either shoes off or shoe covers, something that I was very receptive to having seen some viewers drag dog muck into properties during other viewings. The viewing itself was also a great experience, often times agents can struggle to find the line between being too chatty and overbearing or being a ghost in the corner, but Lillie provided a lovely middle ground of letting me explore the property whilst also demonstrating key aspects, personal opinions on the property and checking on my thoughts. Personal opinions on properties can also sometimes be hard to come by as a lot of agents want to ensure properties have a fast turnover and won't give any personal opinions, so I greatly appreciated hearing real thoughts from a 3rd party as it can help to balance out any biases. The offer application stage was also carried out extremely smoothly and professionally. These days I am used to being sent a link and then sent on my way to fill out the form in my own time, however Lillie made a point of filling out the form in person herself whilst using it as a chance to discuss any needs, circumstances and preferences; and to get to know me a little better as a tenant; whilst also demonstrating an understanding of my slightly awkward request for an expedited decision process. This is something I haven't seen for many years and again, was both appreciated and enjoyable. Overall my experience so far has been very positive and is hopefully an accurate representation of the level of service renting under this agency would be. Likewise, as mentioned several times now, Lillie is a very good agent and definitely deserves specific recognition; even if the application does not end up continuing I shall remember the experience and am more likely to apply with this agency again. Hopefully, however, everything shall proceed ahead and I will continue to carry out business with both this agency and agent; perhaps even considering the agency when it comes time to purchase a property down the line.

Negative experience: Edit: 2026 update Following the posting of my original review, I was quickly contacted to have my issue resolved. Sadly this was clearly just a knee-jerk reaction from head office being involved and seeing a negative public review. I continued to have issues with the neighbours who are managed by William H Brown and I was ignored. I sent two follow up emails to the contact who sorted this out for me following the original review and I never heard back from her. I have worked in customer service myself and the fact that your staff can just ignore emails is beyond me. How are there no repercussions of this? You may feel like you were not interested in helping us here because we were not direct customers of you but rest assured, it has tainted our view of you and we have not recommended you to anyone we know looking to rent or buy. Having read the reviews of others, I am disappointed it's not been a positive experience for us though I am left sadly wondering if it's because we are not looking to rent or buy through William H Brown. Instead, our property has been damaged the one above us, rented out by William H Brown and no one seems to care about the fact I've been chasing since March to have it resolved. I've been told on multiple occasions that someone will be in contact with the landlord to find out if he is happy for quotes to be arranged and then they'll be back in touch with me. I've had to contact them every single time, whether by email or phone call, and I've been brushed off every single time. Not one person has reached out to me to resolve this.

A flyer posted through the door of our empty property advising that they had potential tenants for us. Since our return, their fully managed service has always been top quality and has continued to develop, through the changes in rental market legislation. Their tenant vetting has always provided a good standard of people and the ongoing support, from Denise Seller and her team is excellent, with any issues being dealt politely and efficiently.
