From the outset David helped us understand which items to repair, redecorate and he also organised the house clearance and auctioning. David was particularly helpful on the week of the completion to be on site for the final house clearance and also to manage the cleaners. After a lot of energy had been spent getting the house to this point, one less trip up there meant a great deal. David went out of his way to make the process efficient and stress free.

Negative experience: I was very disappointed with my recent view of a property through this state agent. The property was not as described by the state agent, the place is in desperate need of structural repairs and to make things worse, there was poop on the floor. This is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this state agent to anyone.

Fantastic experience: John Goodwins worked very hard for us in the sale of my aunts retirement flat. The firm gave a lot of support at a difficult time, including helping to clear her furniture from the property. I found staff very good at keeping in contact with updates on progress and giving good professional advice. They always responded quickly and patiently to my requests. Overall I found the company great value for money, very professional and easy to work with.

Negative experience: After having spoken to the most unpleasant, ill mannered, obnoxious woman in the lettings department of John Goodwins Malvern office, I can safely state to anyone reading this post to never use this estate agent. We were looking into the possibility of using an estate agent to manage some letting properties for an aging relative, having found that most agents were 'happy to assist' potential clients and customers when they thought it may bring in business and revenue, we thought we would approach this search from a potential tenants perspective when contacting estate agents. When we contacted John Goodwins Malvern office to enquire about a letting property they were advertising, the female letting agent could not have been any more disinterested, curt, unhelpful or dismissive. So with all credit going directly to this surly agent, we will definitely be taking our business elsewhere.

They kept me up to date with everything and gave advice when needed. Fantastic experience: We have used Goodwin's, twice in the last 4 years for a purchase and a sale. The team are all very professional in their approach and have a great local knowledge of their areas of operation. Viewings well managed and with plenty of notice given, with immediate feedback on the potential buyers actual level of interest. Once a buyer secured excellent liaison with both parties legal teams made for a smooth process end to end. We would not hesitate to recommend them and certainly would use again if buying or selling in their area.

Henry was our nominated estate agent and walked with us through the whole process, from thinking about putting our property on the market until we completed and handed our keys in and picked up the keys to our new home. When we first met Henry we were just testing the water, and where not fully sure about putting our property up for sale. At no time did we feel pressured by him, rather we had very helpful conversations with Henry which enabled us to move to that place of putting our home on the market. We had rather a complicated sale and Henry navigated and supported us though this. He went the extra mile, enabling us to get our sale and purchase completed. We found it really helpful to have someone available who has knowledge of buying and selling a house to advise and steer us through the process. We really did feel that he journeyed with us on such a turbulent journey! Henry was diligent in liaising with all parties involved and we found it very helpful to have regular updates, whether by phone or email. It was good to have a sounding board when we reached times when it felt that there was no way through, just to get his advise was really helpful. If Henry wasn’t available, a work colleague would take a message and get Henry to call us back when he was back in the office. And when on hols Henry left detailed notes with his colleague who was there as a point of contact in his absence. As we have already mentioned our sale and purchase was a very long drawn-out process, there were times that we thought we would throw in the towel and walk away from the process. However, we did stick with the journey, at times it was difficult, and Henry’s expertise and support really got us across the line! We are so pleased to be in our new home.

Negative experience: In my opinion, the worst, most unprofessional experience I have had with an estate agent. Recently purchased a property through John Goodwin and it was a terrible experience. I found John Goodwin himself to be very male chauvinistic, the way he spoke to me was wholly different to how he spoke to my husband. I felt bullied through the entire process and felt I had to have things explained to him several times, which you wouldn't expect to have to do to an estate agent professional. If you have no choice as your dream property happens to be at this estate agent, make sure you check details and look through the property with a fine tooth comb as I found there were details not included. My advice is steer clear if you can!

Fantastic experience: The service I received was exceptional. This is the second time I have used John Goodwin, first when relocating to the UK and second on selling. Nick looked after me throughout my relocation spending the extra time needed to ensure everything went as smoothly and easily as possible. This time I was looked after by Hannah. My sale was stressful and at times messy but Hannah was always up to date with what was happening guiding and giving me advice. Hannah went over and far beyond her remit by stepping in, dealing with the purchasing agency representative and ensuring that another member of their team looked after my purchase. Negative experience: Visited the area for a full calendar week specifically to view properties to let but John Goodwin (in contrast with all other agents in the area) made the process too much hassle and required too much chasing simply to arrange a viewing so I couldn't see any of their properties of interest. I'd understand (a little) if I wasn't looking like a good prospective tenant, but with no pets, no children, a high income, 6 months rent advance ready to pay etc... - in short I don't expect to have to chase an agent around during a viewings process that they themselves have made over-complicated and prone to failure. As with (just) one other agent in the area, John Goodwin insist you view a video tour before they'll book a viewing. Fine (even though I'd rather just get on with making the booking as I'm already on the phone with them). They then didn't send the video tour and needed chasing by phone. Mistakes happen I guess. Then (again, this is 'extra') you need to and fill in a form with earnings details etc for the landlord to approve before they'll book you into a viewing. It doesn't sound too bad... Then you open this form and realise it is a full tenancy application CV (they hadn't even bothered to change the title) asking no less than 7 full pages of exceptionally sensitive and irrelevant details even compared to other tenancy application forms (one example among many: full names and DoBs of any people at my current address who aren't moving into the rented property!?). So after filling enough information to excite even the biggest data fetishists, I send off the form. And got ghosted, not even an acknowledgement. I called. No answer. I called another time. No answer. I then gave up and didn't make any further enquiries because I simply shouldn't have to work this hard just to get through to someone at this company who have made things so needlessly complicated during this already complicated time - I worry about how they would treat me after they have money.

Fantastic experience: We have experience now being a customer of John Goodwin as both buyer and seller and in both cases the service and communication was excellent. The team offered support and updates throughout a process we didn't know much about and could have found very stressful (especially as our sale fell right over the peak of the lockdown). We were economy clients but never felt we got anything less than first class service. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic experience: David Cox and the team in Malvern were excellent to work with selling my late mother-in-law’s house. Everyone was helpful, friendly and straightforward and made sure they either answered our questions or found someone who could. David gave good advice about an achievable selling price and negotiated a realistic final price. One of the reasons we chose John Goodwin was because they offered a complete service that worked well for an executor sale, and Rupert Chambers, Auctioneer from the Upton branch, arranged for the sale and clearance of the furnishings. Rupert and David were in tune and we never felt we had to repeat information when dealing with the one or the other. The third-party company Rupert employs to transport auction items and clear houses did an excellent job with no damage to the contents or the property. Because we live out of the area and the house was unoccupied, John Goodwin staff accompanied all viewers. Mick made sure he arrived in good time and that the property was opened up and ready for viewing, and securely shut up afterwards. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: We were looked after very well by all at the Malvern office, including staff brought in from other branches (e.g. Ledbury) to enable us to have viewings at short notice. Nick in particular (not forgetting Hannah and David) was a very good communicator and all the way from their initial valuation to completion acted in a professional and responsive manner. Fantastic experience: John Goodwin sold my home in 2016. The team went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the sale went through to completion.
