Positive experience: My sister sold her house through Scott Fraser Summertown, and the experience was five-star from start to finish. So, when I decided to sell my flat in Headington, I didn’t consider any other agent—Scott Fraser was my first choice, although I had to go through the Headington branch. I did get valuations from other reputable agents in Headington, but I ultimately chose Scott Fraser based on my sister’s positive experience and because their approach felt more grounded and aligned with my expectations. Unfortunately, my experience turned out to be very different. It was a frustrating eight months marked by constant chasing and complaints. Catherine Dernie was fair and realistic with the valuation, and the property sold within a month of being listed. The photography and marketing were handled professionally. What I didn’t realise at the time was that once the property was sold, the case would be passed on to Elaine to manage the sales progression. After the sale was agreed, I received no updates for over three months. I had to chase repeatedly for information and eventually lodged a complaint before I received any meaningful updates. This pattern of chasing continued all the way to completion. Unfortunately, the delays—many of which were caused by slow responses from the buyer and their solicitors—resulted in financial losses that could have been avoided. Even at the point of completion, they were still asking for documents they’d had for months. While I appreciate the initial professionalism shown by Catherine and the quality of marketing, my overall experience with the Headington branch was disappointing. I would consider recommending Scott Fraser Headington—if they had a stronger and more responsive admin and sales progression team.

Negative experience: Very poor experience with this estate agent. He showed me a property that was in an unacceptable state—messy, dirty, and clearly not cleaned or prepared for viewing. He then pressured me into signing up for a non-deposit scheme that involved a subscription fee, which I later found out is non-refundable under any circumstance. After that, he completely ignored my follow-up messages asking for updates. Unprofessional, pushy, and unreliable.

Callum was very helpful in securing the house that I liked while Iulia assisted in ensuring the house was in good condition. The 4 star is because my move in date was delayed for 2 weeks due to the problems with the house and I was not briefed clearly about the no-deposit option which requires extra payment for membership but on the whole, I am still thankful for their help and professionalism.

Negative experience: Receiving the monthly payment, however they give you the wrong reference number. They chase you, not making any payments for 3 months then they gave you the correct reference number. However they won't sort out the previous payments and now the landlord is involved. If you have time and mental capacity to deal with them, Good luck.

Negative experience: Extremely Unhygienic and Urgent Situation Ignored I am a tenant dealing with an ongoing health hazard in the form of raw fecal matter erupting into our car park. This issue was reported by both myself (4pm yesterday) and by my neighbor early this morning (9 AM) By 4 PM this evening, it had worsened. Despite marking my email as urgent, the response from Benjamin Nujeerallee was delayed, and his follow-up with the landlord resulted in nothing but requests for more information. I escalated the matter to his manager, Adam Bevan, who deflected responsibility, claiming it was the building manager's issue. It doesn’t matter who’s responsible — as agents, they should be addressing this immediately with whomever they deem appropriate. The situation is disgusting and grossly unhygienic, particularly considering that my household includes doctors and surgeons who are on call and need access to their vehicles. This lack of urgent attention is unacceptable for any tenant, and the exposure to such unsanitary conditions is appalling. What’s more appalling is having to write a Google review to get the matter sorted.
Negative experience: I had the displeasure of dealing with Scott Fraser in the role of a tenant. Disrepectful, untrustworthy & generally incompetent. I don't want to waste anymore time on them other than to leave a short review to advise those who have the choice to AVOID.

I have to say it’s very frustrating and time consuming to look for an apartment to rent in Oxford area. Through the help of the letting agent, we are able to survive the hassles and eventually moved in smoothly.
Negative experience: Our experience with Scott Fraser was abysmal. We attempted to arrange a viewing with them. On the day they turned up 15 minutes late, then realised they had forgotten the keys. They told us they would rearrange for the next day and send us a virtual viewing video- but we were never called or sent the video. So we phoned to arrange another viewing... Come the day of the viewing we phone to confirm we are still attending and they say they have no record of the viewing! They then arranged a third viewing for this property and again said they would send a video... No video was ever sent. They also heavily pushed the no deposit option, which is clearly a scam targeting those who can't pull a deposit together. I would absolutely avoid this zero deposit option as it will cost you significantly more in the long term. Although, I question whether they would actually rent to anyone who doesn't choose this option as it must produce significant income for them. We did manage to view a property with them and put in an offer but they never they never told us the outcome of the application. Eventually, we found a house through another letting agents and the experience has been night and day. I am relieved Scott Fraser never accepted our offer as I can't imagine having to deal with this level of unprofessionalism and incompetence. Avoid Scott Fraser if you value your time.

Negative experience: My partner and I had already planned a trip from London (where we live) to Oxford to view a property. We had been assured by the estate agent a week in advance that Saturday was available for an in person viewing. However, just the evening before, we were informed that the property had been taken. The sheer lack of consideration for our time and effort (we had already paid for the train tickets) is absolutely infuriating. What's worse is that we had explicitly expressed our strong interest in the property, yet it seems that this meant nothing to the estate agent. Had we been informed earlier about other viewings or the possibility of the property being taken before the weekend, we would have gladly settled for an online viewing. The complete disregard for our commitment and the last-minute cancellation show their unprofessionalism and incompetence. It's evident that they prioritise their own convenience over the needs and expectations of their clients.

Negative experience: I have used Scottfraser for many years. It used to be a fabulous company. However, since leaders took over a few years ago it has gone completely downhill. I would like to say that the Letting guys in summertown have been good. But they are completely let down by the management company. The management company is absolute shambles. The poor management lead to misuse of our property, poor checkout and poor checking in of new tenants. I had decided to manage the property myself since the new tenants have moved in. The management team raised cost to put the property right at the end of the last tenancy but, after several reminders, failed to raise a dispute with the previous tenants within the 90 day period. Now making the costs from damages difficult to retrieve. Despite having professional check-in and check out inventories and the receipts raised mainly by their team, they are asking that we negotiate on the claim from the tenants deposit. Which is utterly ridiculous considering the evidence they have to show the damages that were caused through neglect. They are awfully slow at responding and are utterly incompetent at their job. I spoke to the manager of the property management department at the beginning of the year. She was apologetic and assured me she will be looking into the matter. She followed up in writing to say she will be in contact within seven days. It has been nearly 1 month and I’ve not heard a thing.
Positive experience: Overall very good experience with Scott Fraser from 2023-24, when I rented a flat from them as letting agents. They were consistently responsive to requests to sort issues in the apartment as they occurred, the communication throughout the process was great and the whole staff team were very friendly and reasonable in their approach. My property manager, Sarah Boyens, was particularly good. Many thanks for all your help.
Negative experience: Would give 0 stars if possible! I let my property in Oxford through SF for many years, but since the Leaders take over, the service is abysmal. Most of the old staff have left, which says a lot. I have lost count of how many times my property manager changed in recent years. I pay for full management service, which they cannot and do not provide and they have no manager in place to complain to. In general, emails are just ignored. I take great pleasure in moving to a new agent this year, and am thrilled to be rid of this dire company. Do NOT let your property though these people!!
Fantastic experience: Elaine and Adrian, and Scott Fraser Headington, have been more than amazing. Their consummate care and skill is outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, and their guidance throughout the sale, with patience and humour, was faultless and more than appreciated. They really are the best.

Negative experience: Scott Fraser lettings have been extremely poor. Initially set up and finding tenants was smooth, but having let our property in March we were paid only half due to an apprent problem with banking details with my husband. We asked for this to be rectified in June, and were promised to be transferred the outstanding balance promptly. 8 weeks later I have had four different individuals promising they have sorted the issue and we will be paid and nothing has happened. We have escalated the matter but still are owed over £6000. People say promise they will sort things and email you but they do neither. The service has been extremely poor which is disappointing as we chose them because they had a decent reputation and had been good when we bought our house. My previous review is maintained below. Can no longer recommend. Past review dated 2019 We have just completed on a house in Headington and Scott Fraser were helpful and efficient throughout. Elaine Norrie in particular went above and beyond in assisting us in the sale, chasing up of solicitors, and making sure that we could visit for fittings and things. Would highly recommend.
Negative experience: Very bad experience with the agency team. If there was an option to give zero, I would give that. They made the checkout process so difficult and got money from me. Despite me using end of tenancy cleaning services and giving them the receipt as well. It surprises you when the checkout report comes as they look at a single hair and can zoom it and show it as a bit fault in cleaning but the check in report is all superficial check with all in perfect condition according to them. Found it so difficult to contact people once you said I would me ending my tenacy soon. Absolutely bad service.
Fantastic experience: Scott Fraser are professional and communicative Estate Agents who support each step of the buying process, whether positive or challenging. Their agents are friendly, generous with their time and really care about their clients. In the Headington office Stephanie, who showed us around our initial property visits, is warm, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humour and positivity. Catherine was also highly supportive and empathetic when things didn't go our way and this was much appreciated. They are certainly a cut above the rest in the fierce Oxford property market and genuinely have their clients best interests at heart, whether selling or buying.
Negative experience: We rented a house with Scott Fraser after a few disappointing experiences with other letting agencies. They seemed more reliable and professional, but we were completely wrong. The lady who was doing the process of renting with us sent me an email about something called Homeshift. According to her, it was a site where we could register to have a place to manage all of our bills all together. I asked if it was mandatory, to which she said no, so I emailed her saying we did not want it. After getting all the paperwork done and all ready to move into our new flat, just by chance the lady from the agency told us the move in date had been pushed forward for a month since, according to her, they had to clean the property. That caused us problems with our landlords at the time. When we moved into the property, it was absolutely filthy. There were stains all over the walls that were not there when we went to see the flat, the carpet was disgusting and the house was full of dust everywhere. We had to deep clean it the moment we arrived. The inspection of the property that they did was not very thorough, since pretty evident things like the fan on the toilet and the switch on the living not working, a completely cracked board on the bed or a massive gap in the kitchen boards were not noted. We reported everything, they fixed the lights and the bed and the property manager asked us to record everything on the blank pages of the inventory and signed it and send it back to her, which we did. In the documents sent by the agency, it was detailed the electricity and gas of the property were operated by SSE, and that they would send us a letter with the first bill and account number. Our surprise was when SSE told us they were not in charge of the gas since February (we moved in March), but a company called Homeshift. Turned out it wasn't a platform to manage your bills as they said, but a gas company. Scott Fraser opened a contract with them in our name since February, even though our contract started in March. When we googled the company, everything on Google was talking about this company being reported as a scam. When I told the property manager, she said she was not aware of this and offered no help. We sent them the contract to prove we only started living there in March and closed the account, but even after starting with SSE they still wanted to charge us saying they were our providers and we had to threaten them with getting lawyers involved for them to stop. During the 2 years we lived there, we had 3 property managers, who changed without notice, making it very difficult to have someone to contact. We also had people coming into our house with their own key without prior notification while I was sleeping or showering 4 times, even though our contract clearly said we had to be notified 24h prior to any jobs being done and we had to give our consent to anyone being given the key if we were not going to be in the property. Since SF were not caring about this, I was eventually advised to call the police if this happened again. We simply made the decision to leave. When we left, we vacated the property even early, left the house completely clean (we even fixed all the wall marks the previous tenant had left) and waited for them to tell us about our deposit. This had to be chased several times, and then they inisted on charging us for the kitchen board we had reported broken when we moved in. I sent them the evidence that we reported that the moment we entered the house and yet they did not care and wanted to charge us for it. Don't rent with them, they will break your privacy all over again and scam you as much as they want.
Negative experience: One of the worst estate agents I've had the displeasure to deal with as a prospective tenant. Super hard to get them on the phone. Arranged viewings multiple times and repeatedly cancelled at short notice, once only 20 mins before arriving after I had driven for one hour on the motorway from London for a viewing. I know the market is busy, but Scott Fraser lack even basic respect for their tenants.
Fantastic experience: My wife and I have moved home often enough to feel qualified to comment on the service provided by estate agents, and we are both agree that the team at Scott Fraser in Headington are absolutely top drawer. Everyone we dealt with was professional, polite and responsive. A key element in the relationship between an agent and their client is communication, and both Simon Liddicot and Elaine Norrie score top marks for the way they kept us informed throughout the process. We were very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Negative experience: From closing the office without warning a few hours early after you make a 2hr trip from Sheffield to pick up keys, to rude staff. After 3 years being a tenant with Scott Fraser, I don't know why I am still surprised with such poor service. I am currently looking for a new place to live since my landlord is selling. Every other estate agent I have contacted has always got back to me. Most recent interaction with Scott Fraser:a July 12th - I first asked about the property and discussed rent pcm. July 14th - I asked for an update, no response. July 17th - I called asking for an update - I left a message as no one was there. July 18th - I again called and was told by a female colleague that she was covering as the manager was now on annual leave. She said she did not have any information if the landlord had been given my offer. July 19th - I was emailed with an application form to complete. I had wrongly assumed, since a week had passed, that my offer was being given to the landlord. This was not the case. I completed and sent the form back the same day. July 20th - I emailed to ask when I could expect to head back. July 21st - I was told Scott Fraser were unable to open the file I had sent. I replied back on the same day with another copy. July 25th - I asked for an update. No response. July 26th - I asked if there was an update. No response.
Negative experience: Horrible experience. We rented a property with Scottfraser and while the property maintenance people were helpful. The agents were not. Had multiple bookings made from Katie who is the head letting agent, who didn’t ask when was best for us. Then proceeded to not tell us when the viewing was cancelled, didn’t even tell the people coming to look who showed up at our door after travelling 2 hours to view the house! We called and emailed multiple times to ask what was happening, the person we spoke to said Katie was on the phone but never heard back, not even an apology from her. Another agent then took over and despite telling them what days we could do for viewings at our property, decide to forget all of that and book the whatever they wanted. Given they are estate agents, they really do lack at doing the bare minimum. Glad we are going with a different estate agents. Rude, rude, rude!
Fantastic experience: The Scott Fraser Headington team is fantastic; Elaine Norrie and Catherine Dernie worked so hard on selling our home and achieved an amazing result. We compared a number of different estate agents for selling our home and are glad we choose them. We will certainly consider them for our next sale and highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: We've worked with a few estate agents in our house buying/selling adventure (read: nightmare) and I can honestly say Scott Fraser are head and shoulders above the rest. They communicate effectively, take actual notes so they can stay on top of things and remain accurate. They sell really well and keep things honest. Above all they are actual human beings who relate and try their best. Will use again, without a doubt.

Fantastic experience: We have been trying to sell and buy in Headington for over 2 years and have been helped through the long journey by Scott Fraser Headington. From the start Simon and Catherine have been excellent and through the various houses that we have tried to buy they have been there to support us. Fantastic experience: This is the second time that we are renting a property with the Scott Fraser Headington Branch and I cannot stress enough how impressed we have been with the professionalism of the team. While Marta has been our first point of contact for most things, Ellise, Amelia, Katie and Laura have also been working very hard to ensure that the whole process of finding and renting another home for our family has been less stressful than it often can be. Negative experience: Worst experience from a letting agent ever. I'm writing this I'm the hope I get a reply from them as I've been waiting for weeks despite constantly trying to contact them. If I could rate 0 stars I would. We have been waiting over 2 months to get our deposit back. I have been contacting our property manager regularly via email and telephone but he has rarely replied to us. On the rare occasion he replied he mentioned he sent the check out report to my mother in law, who cannot speak English despite me saying to them for 3 years that they needed to send things to myself or my husband. On the report they wanted to charge us for things like 'dust on light switch' and a problem that had been flagged on the check in report. They moved over to a new system to send the rent they accused us of not paying the rent, when we had been doing, the fault was their end, then never had an apology. Do not use this company, they try and intimidate you into accepting the deposit charges they offer by not sending you a new offer for weeks, because the know you will desperately need it for your new property.

Negative experience: Avoid their rental team. Unprofessional in the highest degree. On leaving property we waited 3 months to get our deposit back, and only did so after threatening legal action. A day before moving in, we were told the property was not ready yet, meaning we lost money with removal fees that were already booked and paid for. They wanted to deduct money from our deposit for a number of reasons including garden not kept up properly (they provided photos of a garden that was not ours), and a section of wall in the flat not being painted (I promise- I did not unpaint a wall!). All in all a bad experience. So glad I'm now a homeowner and know never to use their sales team in the future. Edit- I note the business replied to this message within a day. When I requested my deposit back with repeated emails/ phone calls, it took 2 months to finally get a response. Maybe prioritise tenants more and replying to reviews less.

Positive experience: My husband and I have recently moved into a property managed by Scott Fraser and have found them to be both professional and friendly (not the case with all agents!). Any questions we have had along the way have been answered and the property we have moved into is lovely. Natasha who dealt with the arrangements for our tenancy made what can be quite a stressful process smooth and easy. I would definitely recommend them!
Positive experience: Initial thoughts: It's my first time renting, but they've made it easy! They've been quick to respond and very helpful. Later thoughts: We ended up having some issues and unreasonable negotiations with the landlord though before renting. A lot of it was not their fault but the communication could have been much better. During the tenancy some things in the house were fixed quickly, other issues were never dealt with.
