Negative experience: One of the most unprofessional experiences I have had with any company, and I would strongly caution anyone considering using MQ. I instructed them based on clear promises of full marketing exposure across major property portals plus strong social media promotion including TikTok, Instagram reels, and consistent online visibility. That was a major deciding factor. In reality, the property was listed on only one major platform for 90% of the sale. And their social media marketing was minimal, ineffective, and nowhere near what was presented during the pitch. This would have significantly decreased my properties level of exposure & likely caused the sale to drag on far longer than it needed too by not getting my property in front of the right peoples eyes. The most concerning issue was how my concerns were handled. When I asked why the agreed marketing had not been delivered, I was met with outright hostility. I was shouted down on the phone, spoken over repeatedly, and treated in a dismissive and confrontational way rather than receiving a professional explanation. The tone was aggressive and defensive from the outset. Instead of addressing the issue, the conversation quickly turned into guilt tripping and accusations that I was criticising or attacking their business for asking why the promised services had not been provided. That was never the case. I was asking for accountability on services they themselves advertised. Text communication was similarly dismissive. Concerns were brushed off rather than addressed properly. At no stage did anyone acknowledge the gap between what was promised and what was delivered. To highlight the difference, when I personally created marketing posts across Scottish housing groups, those posts generated hundreds of likes, comments, shares, and a noticeable surge in enquiries within days. Their own marketing posts (the sum of a facebook post with little thought put into it) saw almost no engagement. The contrast is obvious when looking at their own website quotes - "Our marketing and graphic design team is second to none providing extensive advertising on all relevant digital and social media channels" Despite all of this, I still received a full commission invoice with no willingness to recognise the service shortfall or the completely unprofessional manner in which concerns were handled. Selling a property is stressful enough without being shouted down, dismissed, and made to feel unreasonable for asking basic questions about agreed marketing. I have now escalated the matter formally. Based on my experience, I would not recommend MQ. Edit - I am not surprised you feel the need to lie in your response. I raised concerns months before settlement, specifically July. I have screenshots of texts & your lack of professionalism when questioned on them. Screenshots also show lack of portal coverage and missing social media promotion exactly as I have stated. Many enquiries you reference after this, came from my own promotion across Scottish housing groups. Those posts generated 100's of reactions, shares, and direct buyer interest. I then had to stay with you to process those leads because you controlled the listing. Transparency was never an issue. Factor matters were disclosed properly and in line with legal advice. Suggesting otherwise is incorrect. You also falsely referenced my solicitor. She has made no comment about fees. I have not challenged her invoice & in fact they have been paid more than original quote because they delivered a professional service that required additional tasks. I would also seriously doubt a solicitor from a reputable firm, who is legally bound by client confidentiality would make such comments to a random estate agent, showing again the lies & unprofessional lengths you are willing to go to. The issue remains simple. Marketing that is basic for any estate agent service was not delivered. When asked about it, the response was dismissive, rude and confrontational. I also have never refused to pay. It is the amount that is in dispute.

Fantastic experience: Met Barry a couple of years ago for a home valuation when I was considering selling my house, but later on the plan was put on hold due to change in circumstances. From the very first meeting, he was informative, courteous, and provided clear guidance and strategies for both marketing and buying our next home. I never had to think twice about choosing another estate agent company. This year, starting in June, we began searching again. I contacted Barry again and with no hesitation he visited for a new valuation and showed an incredible amount of patience, offering help and advice on all aspects of securing our next home before putting ours on the market. He never failed to answer my calls or respond to my texts—no matter how many silly questions I had. He also honoured the same clear and flexible marketing cost options he proposed two years earlier. Once we secured our new home a fortnight ago, Barry moved everything forward at remarkable speed. Despite a short delay on our side to finish decorating, he arranged the full sales process—survey, photography, etc—within just two days and went ahead as exactly planned. Holly also went above and beyond to fast-track everything so the property could go live last Friday, ensuring it gained quick visibility before December. Holly promptly arranged all potential viewings without delay, and just four days after going on the market we received a strong offer from a buyer in excellent position. The communication from start to finish was outstanding—no calls or texts went unanswered, and updates were always clear and timely. Their marketing timeline was excellent, and I genuinely believe that without their fast-tracking, the sale wouldn’t have completed in time this fast for our onward purchase, especially considering a slow market in December. Barry also recommended a solicitor firm that I’m currently using, who have been great so far and reasonably priced compared to others. I would highly recommend MQ for selling your property.

Getting a mortgage felt impossible at first — the whole process was stressful, confusing, and full of obstacles — but they made it genuinely manageable. They were patient, straight-talking, and explained every step in a way that actually made sense. Negative experience: My experience with MQ Estate Agents and Barry Chuwen was extremely alarming. I saw through him immediately - his aggressive and cheeky phone manner raised serious red flags. He sent a text saying "Who do you think you are talking to?". Despite repeated requests, I never received a legal home report or EPC. Several statements he made were false and I was suddenly asked to pay much more than the advertised price. I genuinely felt I could have lost a lot of money. The entire process was misleading, unprofessional and left me uneasy. I strongly advise anyone considering this agency to proceed with caution.

From day one they’ve been fantastic to deal with. • Initial contact: quick response, really easy to deal with, got multiple calls from their team, that’s how keen they were to do business! • First meeting: In person meeting, had a walk around the house, and provided a fair offer with clear reasoning — no pressure, no sales pitch. We were happy to proceed. • Offer made quickly, which let us start looking for our new place straight away. Having this financial backing really took the pressure off finding a new property. • Worked at our pace — never pushed us or rushed the process. Were always willing to work with us, and understood it was difficult finding a new property. • Funds were always ready — money was there as soon as our solicitor gave a move date, and I was never afraid of the usual “Quick buy scheme pitfall”, as this company is reputable and has good reviews. • We had to delay moving and they had no issues at all with that, were always accommodating, • Communication was spot on all the way through, using WhatsApp for one-to-one chats were great. • Even let us stay one extra night when our removals company caused a delay, Barry explained he would never force us out, and would always work with us. • Everything went smoother than any normal chain sale we’ve ever dealt with Overall, I am really happy with how everything went — start to finish. Positive experience: I recently had an offer accepted for a property being sold through MQ Estate agents. I have to say that Holly provided exceptional service. Attentive and informative for all of my queries both before and after viewings. This experience has put MQ on my radar if I ever need an estate agent in the future. The only reason I’ve dropped a star (I wish they had a half star option), was the showing agent didn’t quite have the property information for on the day questions.
