Negative experience: I rented a property with Northwood earlier this week and have not had a good experience with then so far. When I went to view the property, there were pieces of furniture that were suddenly removed after my check-in. When I asked about it, the agent said that they were defective, and I have still been asking for a replacement till date. Moreover, the flat wasn’t even cleaned properly before my moving in. Additionally, the hoover in the flat isn’t working, the drying rack is broken, the blinds in the bathroom are broken, the radiator in the flat doesn’t work and the kitchen lights don’t even have a switch to turn on. It’s been a week since I moved in, and these issues have still not been resolved. These are basic must haves in a flat. How is it that tenants have a list of rules to abide by but agents don’t? We pay a hefty sum for the rent and security deposit and the least we expect is to get the flat in a decent condition. Extremely disappointing service.

Fantastic experience: Our experience from start to finish with Northwood and no one else but Cameron Mayo has been nothing but outstanding! After a casual stroll we saw our potential dream home, requested a visit and a few days later Cameron greeted us on a Saturday morning. We felt an instant connection and appreciation with Cameron, the service and care he provides is outstanding and makes you feel looked after as a potential new buyer of the property. We swiftly made an offer which was accepted after a few days of negotiations and again, Cameron dealt with it in the most professional way, keeping in mind we were the buyers, so not his clients! After we agreed on a price, we had a huge task to get our property on the market, quickly..! We were given a 6 weeks window and had to make quick decisions - well, after speaking to my wife and the confidence and trust we felt having met Cameron, our decision was made quickly and so we offered Cameron to sell our property for us to get things moving even faster and to have everything in order from start to finish. Cameron gave us the trust, confidence and appreciation any client is looking for and he ensured us that our property will sell fast. Of course we were in a lucky position that we had a wonderful penthouse type flat to work with, but given the time frame and pressure we were under, things aren’t always that easy but with Cameron’s help and guidance, and having both parties under contract, what could possibly go wrong. Long story short, we had our property on the market due to Cameron’s exceptional coordination and guidance within a week from our offer being accepted - and were “under offer” within the first week our property was on the market. From this point, Cameron guided us through the legal bits, he knew our solicitor by name from the beginning we made our offer with which made us feel even more confident and looked after. All in all, every single step, from start to finish, and it took us “only” 11 weeks to conclude, was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. Cameron has done an incredible job of keeping his clients happy, understood and supported in any way. Last but not least, meeting us at our new home to congratulate us whilst moving in on the day of the keys being handed over was extra special and you really felt how much care he had for us. We truly appreciate the journey and wouldn’t believe that it would have been so smooth without Cameron. Moving homes is as everyone says one of the most stressful times you can ever face, but if you have someone by your side who you can trust and rely on, that you know, no matter what happens, you are being taken care of. Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with this letting agency. They are very professional, easy to deal with, and incredibly fast in their responses. There were no complications at all from viewing the flat to receiving the keys. They even provided me with a welcome box that included discounts for furniture, which was a nice touch. Communication with the landlord through the agency has also been smooth and very convenient. A special thanks to (Meriel) for her kindness and great support. To be completely honest, the only thing that I found slightly uncomfortable is the inspection every four months. I fully understand it is their right, but it can create a bit of unnecessary tension between the tenant and the landlord. I hope this could be reconsidered in the future. Overall, this is the best agency I have dealt with so far, and I truly appreciate their service

Negative experience: If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Genuinely don’t understand how this place is in business. Had a viewing booked for today which was CONFIRMED through email, turned up for the scheduled time and rang the buzzer, no answer…waited 30 minutes for someone to show up and rang the buzzer multiple times, eventually left because I had other appointments. No call or email just complete radio silence. I called the office only to be meet with automated responses and directed to online resources, eventually called the selling line only for the line to ring for several minutes then an automated message saying sorry no one was able to answer the phone. Talked to another man waiting to view the flat and said the same thing happened to him at an earlier viewing. SUPER unprofessional, will never be using this company EVER again, will be informing everyone I know to avoid as well.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been renting through Northwood for over a year now in Edinburgh. We are very pleased with their efficient and clear communication. When we had an issue with a radiator it was fixed within days. Their inspections are never invasive and we are always given proper notice. I have had a much better experience as a tenant renting through Northwood than I have in the past directly from individual homeowners.

Fantastic experience: I used Northwood’s exit service when giving notice to our tenants in preparation for my family returning to our rented property. The subsequent checkout report was extremely detailed and played a key role in helping us recover a significant portion of the tenant’s deposit from Deposit Scotland, due to the unsatisfactory condition in which the property was left. Our property manager, Lena, was highly responsive to emails, and her preparation of our case for Deposit Scotland was exceptional thorough. I highly recommend their services.

Negative experience: I would not recommend renting from this agency. I had mould in the flat that i was renting from Northwood. The mould was affecting my physical health so I notified the agency and they did nothing about it. Really irresponsible given that they are under legal obligation to treat the mould in the properties they rent.

Negative experience: Very bad service, I moved into a flat with Northwood recently, the flat has a prepayment electricity meter but I was not given a key to use for the top up or any details about how to do that, we were told the tenant shop would contact us and that we didn’t have to do anything regarding utility or council tax, the tenant shop was absolutely useless and stalled us for a week, by that time the electricity meter ran out and I had to find out what company I was this, after contacting them turns out I had to travel an hour by bus to get a key in order to be able to top up my meter. I was also disppointed with the cleaning of the apartment as it was clearly hand cleaned and had dusty surfaces all over. Connecting my broadband was another issue as the apartment had no outlet but just a wire sticking out of the wall, did I get any help from Northwood regarding my utilities, council bill or broadband? Of course not, the only thing this agent did was set up my rent payment, deposit and hand me over the keys. Even when I had plumbing issues in the kitchen and bathroom they took forever to respond and I still haven’t gotten anything repaired. Extremely disappointing service, and having just moved from a flat with Murray & Currie I can FEEL the downgrade.
