Fantastic experience: We were first time sellers but Connells made the experience very easy for us! Mike Holland was great, a seasoned pro. He persuaded us to pay the extra for the house to be advertised across a wider area, which I thought was a bit of a con at first, but then the house sold within two days from someone enquiring at the Salisbury branch, so there you go. We are terrible negotiators, but Mike has obviously had practice and liaised with the buyer so we all ended up with a great deal. We used Connell's recommeded solicitors who were fantastic, and didn't have anything else to do with Connells until moving day when they were, again, really helpful sending all the meter readings etc (we had already moved out). We will definitely use Connells again.

Fantastic experience: Mike and the team at Cornell’s branch in Amesbury have been excellent with the services they have provided. Meet Mike in mid June and he explained everything in fine detail putting me at ease. My property was listed 21st June and after a number of viewings an acceptable offer was made on 21st of August which I accepted. To be honest this then put me into panic mode am I really ready to make that move? Due to personal reasons and much deliberation i decided that the timing wasn’t quite right. I called into the office and had a conversation with Mike regarding my current situation. He was fully understanding and we withdrew my property from the sale’s market. Thankfully we were not to far down the line but apologies to all involved especially the buyers I hope they’re able to find their dream property. What my future holds who knows but for the time being I will remain in my current property. Should my situation change in the future Mike has said that Connells would be more than happy to assist me. So once again thank you Mike and the team for the exceptional service you have provided me.

Negative experience: If looking to buy a house through Connells but you do not have a mortgage through them, then I advise that you avoid these at all costs. If you are not taking a mortgage out with them they aren't interested at all in you and will ring you to cancel viewings etc. I think the TV documentary is absolutely spot on about them. If you haven't watched it WATCH it, explains a lot about them. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: If it had not been for Will Morgan’s polite persistence our house sale would almost certainly have continued to languish. Will visited us more than once to persuade us to meet with Mike Holland whose subsequent presentation when we relented explained in entirely lucid terms why our ‘boutique house’ had not sold with our existing estate agents and what he & Connells in Amesbury would do differently. Sure enough, less than a week after listing with Connells they brought us confirmed and committed buyers and the sale was completed less than 3 months later at our original asking price. Our only issue was the short notice from Connells conveyancers of the confirmed completion date but fortunately we were in a position to jump around, arrange removals and transfer of services and ultimately complete on time.

Negative experience: Our experience with Branch Manager Mike Holland has been appalling. From the outset, his conduct seemed insincere. During our valuation, he spent a significant portion of the visit criticising Simon Colligan rather than focusing on our property. His pitch felt more like a GCSE drama performance than a consultation. Despite our reservations, we decided to sign with him as he had recently listed two neighbouring properties and assured us he had a list of interested buyers. He even suggested that some potential buyers viewing our neighbour’s home in the coming days could be brought over to see ours before we officially went on the market. This is what lead us to sign with Connells. After signing with Mike, communication pretty much disappeared. He failed to confirm any viewings or advise us what we needed to do, and when I expressed that we had lost confidence in him and felt we were not a good fit, he reacted by raising his voice and abruptly hanging up the call. During the call he also accused me of using him for his potential buyers, which I am not ashamed to admit I was, I thought it was peculiar that he saw our relationship as anything other than transactional when he was offering a service that we were willing to pay for. We now understand that, due to GDPR, certain documents needed to be completed before viewings could be confirmed. We had expected Mike to keep us informed about whether the potential buyers had the time and interest to view our property, but he never did. We were also encouraged to use Connells’ in house mortgage adviser, which for a fee. Mike told us that doing so would grant us exclusive early access to properties, this made us feel very pressured that without doing so we would be disadvantaged which seemed rather unethical to us. We were also concerned that Mike had applied such aggressive sale tactics which was another red flag. To make matters worse, Mike failed to cancel the photographer after we ended our contract. Almost two weeks later, after signing with a different agent (who happened to use the same photography company) we scheduled a photoshoot, later to find that the photographer had actually been sent by Mike at Connells. When we requested access to the images, Mike failed release them. Even when I offered to purchase them at my own expense, he remained uncooperative and seemed happy for Connells to be out of pocket. I had to escalate the issue to his manager, who was very helpful and ensured we received the photos. Unfortunately, after further delays Mike appeared to have deliberately selected the worst images to send over. Either this or their photographers are not up to standard. Thankfully, we were able to arrange a new shoot promptly, and the new photographs properly showcase our home. It’s unclear what Mike gained by withholding the better images (perhaps just a petty power play) but his handling of the situation has been nothing short of unprofessional. His overall approach to business has been bizarre, and despite the inconvenience he caused, we are relieved to have cut ties with him. If anything, his behaviour has only confirmed that we made the right decision. Due to this experience we’re now reluctant to view any properties with the Amesbury branch. Admittedly, after my dealings with Mike, I am left feeling anxious and uncertain about what he might do next. His behaviour towards us has been so unexpected that I can’t help but wonder if his games are truly over or if he will attempt further actions to sabotage our sale. While I am relieved that my direct interactions with him have come to an end, the sheer level of disdain he has shown towards us lingers, leaving me unsettled and wary. I’m giving 2 stars because we haven’t spoken with any other staff, and it wouldn’t be fair to judge them. However, our entire impression of the branch has been shaped by Mike and his odd behaviour toward us. In my opinion it seems that Mike took our decision to cancel our contract very personally and has since held a one sided grudge against us. RESPONSE: not true though is it, Mike.

The couple I had for your style of house were a genuine couple and were very keen to view it, however I kept saying that I couldn't legally market your property until your husband had completed his online ID. After a couple of reminders asking you to remind him to do it, he still hadn't.
You then told me you had decided not to purchase the property you had viewed through Connells and where your husband had still not completed his ID I had no option but to leave it. You also said you were now putting the maketing on hold for a month. On hearing that, the couple then secured another property though me in Archer's Gate.
Days later you then called me to say you were instructing another agent. You acknowledge that this was always your intention so you must understand why I was a little upset.
The photos chosen were the best ones and these were passed to the other agent. We still have all the original photos and I would be more than happy to show you the original choices.
Fantastic experience: We are so pleased with the service at Connells. Demitri has been so helpful with mortgage advice and helping us set up home insurance, life insurance, etc. As first time buyers we would have been a bit lost without his knowledge. Will and Dan were both very helpful with our viewings, fitting in multiple visits in one evening. We also went through Connells for our solicitor service and DC Law has made the process very easy and their online portal kept us up to date on the progress. Positive experience: Just completed a purchase through Connells in Amesbury. Very good agents, the only thing I would say is that communication, and answering emails promptly, could be improved. I usually had to contact them for info. The same applied to their preferred conveyancing solicitors, Conveyancing Direct. A short phone call fortnightly would suffice and keep most customers happy.

Negative experience: Put an offer in on a house with Connells and we were told we needed to come in branch for a discussion about the mortgage. Despite advising them that we already had a broker, we were effectively harassed into using theirs and told we wouldn’t get the house if we didn’t use their in-house broker (for a fee, of course). We went through an hour-long meeting only to be told at the end that an older woman had put in a cash offer and we were very unlikely to get the house. The mortgage broker told us how much she was offering and we were then cajoled into upping our offer (and made to do so by being stood in front of the agent like school children), but still didn’t get it - I think they were always going to advise going for the cash offer (which is fair enough), but just wanted to use us to up the price. We were then subjected to frequent phone calls asking us to keep looking for houses with them, despite my partner repeatedly telling them we had stopped looking for the time being. It’s all for the best as we found a house with a great agent, but the whole experience has completely put me and my partner off even looking at a house with Connells again. Edited to reflect response from Connells: both points made in the response were already addressed in the original review; we were made aware there was another interested party, but only after sitting through an hour-long meeting during which there was no mention of our slim chance until the very end, and we were pressured to drop our current mortgage adviser and agree to sign on with Connells’ as it would ostensibly better our chances of having our offer accepted. I also appreciate the vendors make the final decision on the buyer (and, as aforementioned, can understand why they would opt for a cash buyer), but to imply the agent has no influence is untrue. We effectively felt like pawns coerced into upping our offer with false hope in order to get an increased offer from the cash buyer, which is what happened. These things do happen, and we had already had a purchase fall through so we are acutely aware of that, but the way it was handled by Connells was sub-par. This is not the isolated experience implied, as several people we have discussed this with since (some of whom work in allied occupations) have said that poor service is standard for Connells as a whole, and there is a review before mine touching on a similar experience with your mortgage advice.
I can assure you that we have discussed this with both the branch team and mortgage consultant in the branch and it is clear that you were aware there were other interested parties who were in competition with you for the property you were interested in. Who the vendor chooses to proceed with is outside of our control, however we would always look to still support you in your property search as these things can take time. I am sorry you feel you didn’t receive the excellent service for which we are known.

Negative experience: Disgusting and vile company. Don't think customer service is in these guys vocabulary. Initiating a screaming match and slagging other agents off because I wanted to remove my details from their system. Far from professional. Whispers to vendors about all these wonderful potential offers, what offers? The offers they are making up perhaps for a house thats been on the market for 4 months and had to bring in another agent to get it sold. Tanked our offer by initiating conversations with the vendor in regards to offers that weren't proceedable, if they aren't proceedable they aren't an offer... when pulled up on it states thay haven't spoken to the vendor for 3 weeks! Not only is that 100% false but saying you haven't spoken to a vendor for that amount of time when you are trying to sell their house is awful! Absolute shambles of a company, would never want to put any money into their pockets. Update: despite me asking multiple times to remove my details from their records I have now had the branch manager phone me to make comments about this review. Fantastic to see the lack of professionalism is still very apparent

No one has made an offer on the property through ourselves and the seller is aware of this. After having had several viewings on the property there was one viewer who showed interest about a month ago but they decided to take no further due to the issues you are aware of. The seller was informed of this. If you offered through the other agent then the seller may have told the other agent that they had received some interest, but there was certainly no offer made.
We have not been aware that that you have even made an offer on the property. The first I heard of this was when you contacted me.
Regarding not having spoken to the seller for at least three weeks, I have provided them with marketing updates by email and my colleagues speak to them when they arrange viewings and provide feedback. Where the property has been on with two agents and where it is a very niche market property our last viewing was over three weeks ago.
I am really disappointed that you feel the need to make this review and am more than happy to invite you into the office to evidence the above.
Lastly, I hope you manage to secure the property and will leave you to continue negotiations with the other agent agent and seller. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you hear anything else that concerns you and, as requested, I have removed your details from our database.

Fantastic experience: The team at Connells Amesbury have all been excellent. After our initial enquiry, Mike gave an accurate idea of pricing and invaluable advice on how best to market the property and what needed doing beforehand, followed by regular updates on the sale and advice when problems arose. The rest of the team (Savannah, Matt and Will) have also been excellent as they coordinated an open day, arranged multiple viewings and ensured potential buyers could view the property when required. Altho the initial sale fell through (not due to an estate agent problem), in both cases they found a buyer within 2 weeks of the property going on the market. Fantastic experience: Mike stands out as a service provider who actually delivers. He is efficient and constantly goes above and beyond what might be expected from an agent by for example conducting viewings at unsociable hours if required. Fantastic experience: Great experience with Connells. Savannah, Mike and Matt were all kind and helpful throughout the process of buying my first home. One instance of this was when I got asked about getting the property I was buying surveyed. Due to my lack of experience it was heavily recommended that I get one done, so I agreed and booked it in. The following day, I received a call from Mike who advised me that he didn't think this was required, as the flat wasn't that old and I would be better off saving the money. If I hadn't have received that phone call, I would have just gone ahead and dropped near to £600 on something that wasn't necessary!

Negative experience: Connells Estate Agents: A Disastrous Experience - From Inadequate Communication to Complete Disengagement in Sales Progression We are extremely disappointed with the services provided by Connells Estate Agents. They consistently fell far below the expectations we had set, particularly in terms of communication. The lack of communication was evident from the very beginning, especially when it came to coordinating property viewings which included informing us of when viewing were and also when the agents left the property - a crucial aspect of the selling process. This lack of attention to detail extended to their poor efforts in generating interest during the initial stages, largely due to the open house strategy that did not yield the expected results. What added to our frustration was their unprofessional behavior and negative attitude. Not only did Connells Estate Agents fail to deliver to their “commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service”, but they also engaged in bad-mouthing other estate agents in the area. This kind of behavior is not only unbecoming of a professional agency, but it also raises concerns about their integrity and values. Moreover, when we raised our initial complaints about their services, Connells Estate Agents dismissed our concerns rather than addressing them, displaying a disappointing lack of accountability and understanding. To make matters worse, the behavior of the estate agents was both rude and aggressive, as reported by our buyers. It's disheartening to know that the house's success in selling had more to do with its own merits as described to us by third parties in the chain rather than the efforts of the estate agents. As customers, we were left with no choice but to seek assistance from other estate agents within our chain and our solicitors to navigate through the process. Moreover, Connells completely disengaged after the sale post offer acceptance refusing to participate in the sales progression. The next time we heard from them was the day we were moving out when they asked for the keys and, shockingly six days after the completion date when they requested more money. This indifference and lack of involvement were noted not only by us but also by various parties in the chain, including other clients and agents representing them. Connells claimed they don't get involved in sales progression, which contradicted the proactive approach taken by all other estate agents involved, leaving our solicitors in disbelief at their response. We ended up receiving better advice, information and guidance from another Estate Agents involved with the chain. If we had the time and energy after such a lengthy process, we would have seriously considered disputing their charges. In our opinion and in the opinion of some of the other parties involved in the transaction, Connells Estate Agents' service was severely lacking. However, it's a relief not to have to deal with them again. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that others avoid working with Connells Estate Agents. Their level of professionalism and care was clearly insufficient, and we hope that our feedback prompts them to make significant improvements to their services.

Negative experience: Worse service, it’s a joke. They told me I had to go with their in-house mortgage advisor only if I want to get the house. They charged me nearly £1000 for nothing. Time pressure to make payments and once your money is gone it’s not coming back ever. My friend had similar issues with Connells when she was renting. This is no less than a scam, people working here at not transparent. They will just do anything to charge you no matter what only because they made a couple of calls to you.
Fantastic experience: Me, my husband and 2 children were given notice to get out of our previous rental property fairly suddenly. We came across several properties and went through Connells to view more than one but Chloe went out of her way to secure us a new property. Rental homes are going very quickly and it’s scary out there right now. Chloe made sure the process was less scary! We are very happy to have now moved into our nice new rental home.

Hi Karl. Unfortunately you wanted to purchase a property on the basis of letting yours out but we discovered that this wasn't possible on the figures that had been given to you by another agent that doesn't cover this area. You then decided to market the property for a price that was hugely over the price evidence supplied and asked us to hold the other house for you. The seller of the other house had found a property to purchase and it would have been wrong for us to recommend that client take his house of the market when you couldn't proceed. The other house has now gone under offer to a first time buyer and now you have left this review. I am sorry that you lost your purchase but we acted professionally throughout.
