Negative experience: The post-checkout service is extremely unsatisfactory from a tenant’s perspective. After we moved out, we were left completely on our own to raise a dispute with the deposit scheme because the landlord had added unacceptable and unjustified charges. There was no meaningful support or guidance from Dexters during this process. It feels like once you are no longer renting through them — especially if you’re not moving into another one of their listings — the level of assistance drops significantly. Recovering our deposit became unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming. I would not recommend this agency if you are a tenant.

Negative experience: BEWARE: UNPROFESSIONAL, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND SERIOUS MISMANAGEMENT Our experience with Dexters (East Acton office) has been extremely disappointing and stressful. To start with Jimmy Dhangra, Director at the East Acton office — his conduct throughout this matter has been unprofessional and dismissive. Rather than addressing serious and ongoing tenancy issues, he chose to distance himself entirely once the problems escalated. There appears to be selective memory when it comes to prior agreements, and any accountability was simply avoided. We will now be escalating this matter directly to Dexters’ Managing Director, as senior management should be concerned about how this reflects on their brand and reputation. The property was taken unfurnished, as clearly agreed with both the landlord and Dexters. The landlord left furniture in the property with the understanding it would be removed once our furniture arrived. Despite this agreement, the landlord is now attempting to charge us for that very furniture. Additionally, the property was not redecorated prior to our tenancy — it already had stains, chipped paint, and visible wear throughout. Yet we are now being charged £1,380 for redecorating, which is completely unjustified and unreasonable. As for the landlord, their conduct has been equally unacceptable. The property was riddled with issues from the outset. We are a family of five who lived in the house for 2.5 years and spent much of that time chasing repairs and fixing problems ourselves. We went eight months without a functioning intercom, meaning we could not receive guests or deliveries properly. The landlord repeatedly used unqualified “cowboy” builders who attended after business hours, causing ongoing disruption to our family life. One particularly dangerous incident involved a built-in fridge installed by the landlord’s builder — just months later, it fell out of its housing, which could have seriously injured someone had they been standing in front of it. Despite enduring these issues for years, instead of being compensated or even acknowledged, we are now forced to dispute what feels like the attempted theft of our deposit through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. This matter is ongoing. Further updates and photographic evidence will be added.

Fantastic experience: We sold our flat April 2025 with Dexters. We had a very slow sale due to having slow conveyancers and Peter Daraki and Danielle were very helpful and supportive.

Positive experience: We have just let a property through Dexters and are very grateful for their support in helping us find tenants and have appreciated how quick and responsive they have been with us. Dhruv who let our flat has also been particularly kind and reassuring during the process! We also liaised with Charmaine, Kai and Harley during the process who have been very useful in sharing any and all relevant information in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I have to leave 4-stars as we disappointed to find that prior to tenants moving in, while our apartment was undergoing renovation (and did not look its best), prospective tenants were allowed in an additional time to "measure" the property; without our knowledge or consent to window dress. Additionally, we opted for the inventory service which also took place on a date not agreed with us and ultimately, before workers tools and equipment were removed, before all work was carried out, and crucially, before the property had been professionally cleaned. Had there been better communication to ascertain when the work would have been completed and when cleaners came in, the inventory would look slightly different and in an ideal world, we'd have appreciated taking placing on the day the tenants were due to move in, not the week before. Other than that, so far so good, and are grateful nonetheless to Dexters for their support and speed.
