Negative experience: Me and my partner were planning on moving to Inverness, and we came up for viewings around the 11th January weekend. Tughan were initially great, allowing us to view some 2 bedroom properties which were not on Rightmove yet after I said I was finding it difficult to find a house (due to living down South in England). We put an offer / sent the application forms on Friday 10th late, and they were acknowledged on Monday morning. Then everything went downhill - I emailed my agent for updates but she did not email back, so I had to regularly call for updates but they didn't have much information (along the lines of "another agent is dealing with this, I'd have to speak to my manager"). I assumed referencing was already happening, but I wasn't told until Thursday 23rd (nearly two weeks after) that the Landlord was happy to go ahead and referencing would begin (through an external provider). So I'm not sure what was happening for those two weeks. Then referencing happened, that went until Wednesday of the following week - then I got what seemed to be an automated email at 5pm exactly from my original agent saying the Landlord was not going ahead, and I saw the property back on Rightmove. As they closed at 5, I called the following morning to ask - I was told our referencing looked ok, but I should not have been told the "landlord was happy to go ahead", but I was. So it went from being somewhere I thought we were going to get (given early viewings before other people), to wasting 2-3 weeks and money going to view (due to no virtual viewing policy) and then just being told the Landlord doesn't want to go ahead. I understand they cannot share those details, but I should not have been told the Landlord was happy to go ahead. Moreover, they have not told the referencing agency that we aren't going forward - so they have been messaging me about moving, and also it is slowing down applications for other houses due to the agency thinking we are getting two houses (it has been nearly 3 weeks and they haven't told the referencing agency). TLDR; Tughan were very accommodating and polite at the start, allowing me to view properties not on the market yet, but then communication went downhill, I was told the landlord was good to go ahead, but then I was told the landlord did not want to after referencing was done.

Fantastic experience: This review for Tuchan and Cochran begins in Oct 2006. My wife and I went to Alice's old small office opposite the Cathedral in Inverness where we were greeted by Alice. At this time we were prospective tenants looking for a property to rent in Inverness. Alice was professional, friendly and welcoming. Alice quickly found us a property to rent in Inverness and for the next two years we had a wonderful home. We had by this point saved enough money for a deposit on our first home. Alice gave us some great financial advice. Over the years we kept the advice from Alice and eventually we were in a position to become Landlords. There was only one person we were going to speak to 'Alice' For the last five years Tuchan and Cochran have managed a property for us in Inverness. When our last tenant left the property required a significant clean. Tuchan and Cochran sent in their cleaning team and returned our property to a fantastic condition. As a landlord the years of sweat and tears you put into to buying a property to rent as a long term investment needs to go into the hands of someone you can trust. As a tenant, you need a company that looks after your rights. Makes sure you're rented property is up to code and a safe place to live. Negative experience: What a joke of a company. Unprofessional is an understatement. Straight out charge you an end of tenancy cleaning fee even though you ‘properly maintain’ the property. No feedback from them regarding the 6 month inspection visits. Never any issue raised from these however on exiting the property they have the audacity to charge £165 to get it cleaned even though it was left spotless. Was charged a fee for removal of cleaning products etc I left for next tennant. Never return your emails, never return your calls. Left me with a non compliant boiler from Sept ‘23 to Jun ‘24. Zero follow up from them regarding contractors they assign to fix issues to see if the work was completed. Avoid!

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible company to deal with. We arranged a viewing of a property as we need to relocate to the highlands to be closer to hospitals etc for our youngest child. Told we could book a viewing, also filled in the tenancy applications form. Everything was brilliant, not even 24 hours after arranging all this we get a call telling us that our viewing is cancelled because we don’t fir the criteria of the landlord for the property. Beyond disgusted, no reason given for why we don’t fit the criteria either which is just horrible. Avoid this complaint at all costs. You’d have better luck living in a tent in the local city under a bridge than dealing with this company.

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling rental company. Every rental we have had we have been charged for cleaning yet the places were more spotless than when we first moved in. They are quick to take your deposit but again not so good at giving it back and you need to chase them for it and then boom, hit with cleaning charges. The last property we had we got professional cleaners in and still they charged a small fee. Paid as we couldn't be farked with the arguing and longer waiting time to get money back. The visits they do are hilarious, walk in with outdoor shoes on and have zero respect for the rentals having beige carpets that mark easily. Most rentals we had also had unwashable paint so again making it harder for tenants to keep clean as you will not be able to clean non washable paint and houses get grubby over time no matter how careful you are. You have been warned

Negative experience: Had a very lackluster viewing of a rather shoddy property from a representative that came across as completed disinterested, after taking time out from work for an arranged viewing that quite frankly felt like a complete waste of time.

Negative experience: stuck in the dark ages. londoners need to DRIVE to Inverness, 12 hours to VIEW properties, make offers, to then get turned away, because LOCAL got the rental. there is no guarantee of your rental being approved beforehand. no technology. no video conferencing. no video inspections. no electronic platforms. no applications being approved prior to inspection. closed minded industry up here. terrible terrible terrible

Negative experience: Do not rent a property through tughan & cochrane. They do not do any property maintenance even though they insist on doing invasive property maintenance inspections regularly. They will increase your rent repeatedly and ignore any issues you report with the property. There staff talk to you like you are a child and are really condescending.

Negative experience: Four good years of being agents ruined at the end with bad attitude, ignored emails and a month with still no deposit returned.

Negative experience: Avoid them like the plague. This company is an absolute shambles. We wasted 2 valuable weeks with them. They asked all of our personal information and supporting documents and they haven't even done a reference check. Collecting data When we asked any question, they didn't have answer and promised to call us back...I guess they lost our number. If you hope, you are going to find a property with them to rent, most likely you will end up on the street.

Positive experience: Overall a very positive experience dealing with T&C - moving up to Scotland from London was a bit of a nightmare but Bruce was extremely helpful in blocking out almost half a day for viewings and showing me around. They managed to get us a flat on very short notice (we signed 4 days before moving!) and so far every query we've had upon arrival has been followed up quickly and efficiently, and everyone seems very friendly. The only criticism I have is that they don't do virtual viewings, which can be an issue for those moving from afar.

Fantastic experience: Super helpful and exceptionally efficient. I travelled to view two properties in Inverness from the central belt. Only one with T&C and the other agent cancelled last minute. T&C found three other properties on the very same day without delay and showers them to me, and I applied for one that day. All within my requirements. The agent (Leigh) was extremely professional and so much more helpful than any agent I have dealt with. I was in my new home within several days! Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: Gave us appointment to see a house and we found out 10 min before the viewing that it was let agree because we went to take another look on the website. They never told it was let agreed and we were already out of the house. We came from another city.

Negative experience: Zero integrity. They care neither for the landlord nor the tenant - just themselves. Landlords beware. They might seem friendly and approachable at first but they are not looking out for your interest. Tughan and Cochrane are in the business to make quick money. They do not do any cross-checks themselves - just an appointed company with an automated system that can be tricked easily and you end up with problems. Once you do have problems, they distance themselves from the equation and leave all the responsibility to you. They collect the application forms and force you to make a decision in a rush so they can get paid. As a landlord with several properties, I would never recommend doing business with them.

Negative experience: Extremely misleading and unprofessional; possibly a SCAM! We recently viewed a property with them and applied after liking the property. The next day, we get a phone call that they are proceeding with the application. A bit later, we got an email from their verification agency - homelet - it looked a bit suspicious - asking for many personal details. Our suspicion was proven right when we discovered it mentioned a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ADDRESS to the one we had applied for. They were extremely unprofessional over the phone when we pointed the error and promised to follow up but never did. We rang them up again and they said the error had been corrected. We proceeded with referencing and then waited for the final offer. Finally, they rang up for us to accept the offer but there was something fishy - they wanted for us to accept over the phone and quoted a property address that was alien to us - STILL A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ADDRESS. They then emailed that the original property has been let out to someone else. SCAMMERS!

Negative experience: Had problems with mice in our rental, were told they'd send out an exterminator -- instead they sent a random old handyman who pointed out a few holes in the house where they could be getting in... and that's it. Offer zero help when trying to find a new property, tell you they'll prioritise you when you have to find a new property due to owner selling but don't even get in contact once you apply. Have to phone them to be told the property went to someone else. Useless at communicating and offer very little help.
